I played Dead Island back in 2011, when it originally came out, and only made it through a third of the game. I can't remember why I lost interest, but I was excited to try it again after falling in love with Dying Light in 2015. I have only played about an hour so far, but I'm very disappointed that a remastered game from 5 years ago can have screen tearing as bad as this does. Games like this remind me of the great advantages of Xbox Game Pass with Gold. I just picked it up for 15 bucks for the first three months (returning player). Now it's no big deal when I try a stinker like this. There are other zombie killing games that are SO much better. I played this for about 15 minutes before I quit and uninstalled the game. The terrain and backdrop are so cluttered you get claustrophobia. And this is supposed to be outdoors. You're walled in by buildings, hedges, and fences everywhere. And there is no freedom of movement or alternate routes to destinations. It's one route only for missions. If they wanted to do this they might as well be in a bunker or a dungeon like DOOM. You're in a maze all the time. The zombies are easy to kill but the weapons stink and are fragile. And very limited. In the early game they expect you to fight hordes of zombies with a pipe, an oar, a broomstick or a knife. Only the pipe is effective and the weapons degrade quickly. I got through the first couple segments mainly by running (if you stand and fight you die) and kept saying out loud to myself "Where's my gun?" I'm supposed to fight zombies with out a gun? Also, you're encouraged to loot but I don't see where the loot is useful in any meaningfull way. Med kits and weapons are what I'm interested in. But you won't find either in any suitcase. I don't where they're hiding the weapons, but I couldn't find them. I opened every suitcase. Oh, you get $9. BFD. At least give me a bow and arrow or an effective spear or club if you won't let me have a gun. Sorry, there are other games that allow you to have firearms and effective weapons.. I'll go play those. Really Bad! How are these people able to release this filth? Nothing new added to gameplay{which was never great) in fact i would almost go as far to say the game is worse than the version that came out on 360. Avoid at all costs unless they give it away for free, and even then i still wouldn't be jumping to hit the download button.

There is a download code for Riptide? really? Also why release this when superior verison of this (ahem Dying Light) is out and you can get the complete ed of that and have a blast.

This remake is only 30fps....what a joke!
The sluggish framerate makes it feel like an old ps3 game.
A definite don't buy. The graphics isn't pushing any barriers so this not being 60fps is just lazy. Give us 60fps or don't bother at all.

Still lots of fun to play!!

Needs some work done though like the combat can be quite annoying at times and sometimes you glitch through walls and roofs.

Dead Island: Definitive edition is/was a great form to get the new-gen users to play the original Dead Island, but it's not that good, like the fact of using the downlode code for riptide instead of a DVD or Blu-Ray Disc, but hey, i still like it.

I played on my Xbox and i really love this game . Graphic much better then 2011 version and with fps boost feature on Xbox you have Super satisfying experience , 60fps with no lag or stutter. Dead island riptide and dead island have good story , i know is not great but for me game is perfect .

I must say, but I really liked this game. Being that it has the DLC, a great variety of customizing weapons with whatever there is, the funny bugs that do not affect the game (Some), in this traveling from here to there the map of Banoi, the zombies "Realistic" (Because they even fall to the ground with a kick), the hordes of zombies that kill you quickly and the missions that are funnyI must say, but I really liked this game. In short, I really liked the game, because it is a real survival style in the situation that you don't have a firearm and you have to improvise with whatever you have. Also, even zombies can corner you and use a perfect combo to kill you. Expand

Two ho-hum games that are aging quickly despite their youth, and a new retro title that adds very little to the equation.

For its budget price the Dead Island: Definitive Collection offers two solid open world experiences that have never looked or played better on console as well as a retro-styled novelty that can be enjoyed in short bursts. It’s just a shame that the changes made to both Dead Island and Riptide are only visual, as both have gameplay aspects that could do with a little more polish.

Dead Island Definitive Collection is a fine collection of three games. With updates graphics and some new extras, the games are better then ever.
