    I loved the old-school presentation they went with because it gives the game charm and in some ways it makes the game quite immersive. The RPG elements are very good and handling certain tasks creates a realistic feel to the game making you become quite attached to the characters. I enjoyed the turn-based combat quite a lot because it has a decent amount of depth to it and defeating the zombies always felt satisfying. There isn’t a ton of resources available to you which makes the gameplay challenging and realistic at the same time. The story kept me interested throughout my time with the game and it combined with the gameplay extremely well. There’s a little too much grinding required in the game and this can make things become repetetive quite quickly. The weapons you can use aren’t the best and there isn’t enough variations of them which means they all basically feel and act the same way. There isn’t much in terms of exploration available to you and a little bit more in terms of freedom would’ve been nice. Does Dead Age do enough to get a recommendation from me? I can’t think of many zombie RPG’s so Dead Age grabbed my attention almost immediately. My interest was further strengthened by the many good things I’ve heard about the game and thankfully I’m pleased to say that after sinking a few hours into it it’s clear to see why so many people enjoy this game. At it’s core this game is an RPG filled with turn-based elements and these aspects of the game have been done really well. In fact they’ve been done that well that it’s quite difficult to put the game down and even though the game can be pretty grindy it still won’t stop you from returning back to the game time and time again. You’ll be pleased to know then that the game doesn’t suffer with too many problems and my only gripes were really only down to the lack of exploration and lack of weapon type’s. This then means recommending Dead Age to you is very easy indeed and if you love a good RPG with plenty of turn-based combat then this game is a must buy.… Expand

    85% of Steam users (very positive) like this Zombie Apocalypse game and that has reasons.
    Its a indie rogue like RPG a bit in the style of FTl random events with a turn-based “Final Fantasy” Style combat System.     Overall, Dead Age felt like an old-school educational computer game — something like Liberty’s Kids or Carmen Sandiego where the extent of gameplay is reading and being shown things happening, with little engagement from the player. There was no excitement or thrill to it — the presentation is dry, the gameplay is simple and repetitive, and the story goes nowhere. Send this one back to the boneyard.

    Overall, Dead Age isn't my cup of tea. The only part of the game I found was decent was the fight scenes, as that had the most action. I feel like gamers who like strategy games will enjoy its premise though. The concept of Dead Age is fantastic, I just feel it fell a little flat. What I was expecting and what Dead Age provided was a large enough difference where I feel I won't play it again. That being said, I'd like to move on from this camp and see if I can find something else down the road.

    Sadly and even though the idea presented by Dead Age shows plenty of potential for an exciting gameplay experience, the overall execution leaves a lot to be desired.
