I’m a massive fan of the Burnout series and I was very excited when Danger Zone was announced and at times the game does a valiant effort of trying to recreate the Burnout formula, but unfortunately it never feels as exciting as the series, which is a shame. The game however has nailed the one more go gameplay very well and when you first play it it’s super addictive, but in the end the lack of content hurts the game’s replay value. The game is very clever at times and each stage you take part in has a lot of variety and can be very fun at certain stages. The inclusion of a local multiplayer mode would have made the game even more fun and I was very surprised and disappointed that they didn’t include local multiplayer. Without a doubt the game shines brightest when the explosions are happening. The explosions and car crashes can be wild and full of destruction at times and it holds up really well even when there’s complete mayhem happening on the screen. I would however have liked the controls to be more responsive because the steering problems can be very frustrating and off putting at times. If you don’t know about the type of game this is then you will have all the tutorials you need, and I think this was a very good addition. The presentation side of the game was something I was a little disappointed with, and the basic design is something that’s not very memorable at all which is a shame. At the end of the day Danger Zone is a game that’s good for playing in short bursts. It isn’t however a game that can be played for long periods because things start getting repetetive really quickly, and there isn’t much content to mix things up. Fans of the Burnout series will find some enjoyment here, but in the end you just feel like it’s lacking and you’ll be crying out for more. If you want a cheap thrill then Danger Zone has you covered, but if you want more bang for your buck then maybe this game is not for you. Expand

A slight game as far as storyline is concerned. Drive your car into others, causing as much damage and mayhem as possible a la Burnout's Crash Zone. However there is quite a bit more to this game than exploding dodgems. Challenging tracks, interesting physics, varied range of explosions (trust me, it's very satisfying) and a huge dollop of fun.

For a game that you would think would be a quick ten minute pick up when bored, it held me enthralled for hours, down to it's just one more race magnetism. Filled with achievements, for £12 it's an absolute steal (especially having more tracks than other consoles & PC). A solid 8.75 for me. Great fun.

Danger Zone is a good game if you can appreciate its simplicity. The sparse setting and presentation aside, the puzzle element is a fantastic spin for the game, and it's hard to deny the satisfaction of crashing into tons of vehicles. It also helps that the game's addictive nature and leaderboard presence can inspire multiple runs even after everything is unlocked. For fans of a title that's easy to pick up and quick to play, Danger Zone is worth checking out.

Whilst it may not encapsulate the wonder of Burnout's Crash mode, it's still quite fun, and will give you something to do for a few hours.

As I was playing through Danger Zone, my general opinion of the game kept jumping around as often as my car did. I love the crash junctions from Burnout, and the puzzle nature of trying to obtain the pick-ups. With that said, I wish there was simply more to it and that it was a bit more polished up, especially considering the game’s development pedigree. Three Fields knows its stuff, and I sincerely hope there is enough demand from franchise fans to prompt planning for either a DLC expansion or a Danger Zone 2 with a level editor. The fact that the game will get Xbox One X enhancements and 4K output in the near future offers that hope. So, if wanton destruction and a relatively easy 1000 Gamerscore are your thing, queue up Kenny Loggins and take this highway to the Danger Zone.
