Cruz Brothers is a Boxing-Centric Side-to-Side Fighting Game. The story centers around Phillipe and Igor Cruz, Street Boxers with talent who want to make it big. Saying this is a boxing game would be selling it short. this is a brawling fighter game, complete with controller combination special moves like throwing energy. The story centers around Phillipe and Igor Cruz, Street Boxers with talent who want to make it big. Saying this is a boxing game would be selling it short. this is a brawling fighter game, complete with controller combination special moves like throwing energy. Every move in this game hits hard if it hits at all. The controls take a little time to get used to, but after a few good bouts, I found myself beating my opponents senseless. Then I instinctively tried to "Hadouken" at my opponent, and I sort of did! The blast of energy my fighter released in front of him caught me off guard. I had seen a few of the special moves, and they produced glowing trails, but this revelation changed the game entirely! With years of controller moves in my muscle memory, I tried everything my hands remembered, and I went for beating my opponents senseless to decimating them entirely. The only issue I had was defending, you have a block stance and a dodge stance, only one can be used at a time, blocking does just that, and the dodge stance takes your stamina, and bobs and sways to avoid enemy contact. I would either run myself out of stamina awaiting a hit, or I wouldn't initiate the blocking in time and take a pummeling as a reward. You can build up a breaker move that allows you to stop combo attacks, but you either have to take or deal more damage than can usually be acquired in a single match, which some battles were. Cruze Brothers has a few visual anomalies, but nothing that detracts from gameplay. The story has a few great moments but goes about where you expect it to. Overall Cruz Brothers is a Hard-hitting fighting game that packs a few surprises and should entertain the hell out of fans of fighting games. Expand

There are some great ideas, and an admirable aesthetic, but when you can pick up better fighters such as SoulCalibur VI, Mortal Kombat X, Tekken 7 and even Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite for far less, it’s hard to really justify the price.
