    Things I disliked:

    - AWFUL pathfinding and map, with near constant confusion and wandering around aimlessly.
    - Repetitive and fairly dull combat and it takes up almost the majority of the game, strange for a narrative-focused game too.
    - Original soundtrack is pretty bland.
    - The main character is entirely forgettable.
    - Harmful feminist undertones (all the males are either stupid, die, are evil or incompetent) and ZERO females die, and are always strong and capable.
    - The ending was pretty poor.

Control has an amazing story, great gameplay mechanics and succeeds to create an immersive and suspenseful atmosphere. It's the kind of game I love and would recommend gamers to play at least once.
But Remedy, why not make previous gen saves compatible with current gen ? Real bummer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I went into Control not expecting much. I've been trying games recently that got lower reviews, or less attention than others. Initially for the first 5 minutes or so I was thinking Control was going to be another Myst type puzzle game. Then the first psychological thing hits. You circle around an upstairs area until you meet a janitor. He tells you to go straight and up an elevator. Low and behold going straight takes you back to where you started and there's now an elevator. However minutes before there was no way to venture this way. BRIEF overview of the world in the game there are things called Altered World Events, they can create Objects Of Power, think of the spear of destiny that peirced Jesus. The game had decent combat mechanics, and a decent narrative. All in all this is what games like Quantum Break could have been. I've seen others saying this game was a metroidvania, I didn't see the parallel that they did unless it's the gaining of new powers. It's more akin to an rpg without a level system. You gain mods, and powers by exploring not by levels. As for graphics the game is by far one of the best visually of the former generation. Others are legit complaining about dialogue and they didn't connect with the characters. For me it was the opposite, I grew up watching the XFiles and this very much felt like playing a female version of Mulder. People also complain about an abrupt ending, I get that but that also is a marketing scheme to allow for DLC and a sequel/prequel. I'd love to see more done with this franchise. Pros
    Good story driven game
    Good combat Decently hard encounters
    Psychologically messes with you Cons
    Sometimes the game can lag
    Video playback issues
Coming out of options etc drops framerate for a few seconds

Control is set in an enormous paranormal world that is great for exploration. The combat system is so satisfying, even though, it gets repetitive from time to time. Control feels a bit unfinished. You expect to get the answers to all your questions but the ending came more quickly and abruptly than I would have liked.

Just like me, don't go into the game after reading a lot about it.

For me, getting something that has a sense of supernatural to it and a little more exploration-based compared to the typical annual shooters, like the increasingly-boring Call of Duty series, Apex Legends after nearly 3 years, etc., this has been a refreshing title to visit. I got onto it because it was on Game Pass and though it doesn't take advantage of the Series X whatsoever, it's still a fantastic game to play. Gameplay

A fairly standard TPS with little weapon variety. The one weapon is the service weapon which is a pistol, it does have different forms that will make it similar to a shotgun or hand cannon but this is only in look and as such it still acts as a pistol. There is a modification system with the weapon that can give minor buffs to the gun or to health and such, there are also these mods for yourself for the same thing. Enemies in the game lack variety and are essentially your standard zombie-type enemies present in many games, while some of them do interesting things like throw rubble at you it effectively just serves as a long-range option. The player does have superhero-like abilities which are actually pretty neat, the launch ability, for example, allows you to pick up pretty much anything on the map and throw it at people with a force power, this ability feels great to use and is a whole lot of fun. However a problem with this ability is that it is imprecise as a result of how much can be picked up, it can be hard to pick up a certain item you want which can be extremely frustrating and even lead to death if you were planning to throw a grenade back at the enemy. This problem was especially prevalent in a particular boss fight about halfway through the game. The shield ability is fantastic, I have no issues with this and it is the best of the abilities you get, the ability upgrades for it make it possible to be a weapon as well and offer extra protection and some unique combat options. Evade is a simple dodge. Levitate is a floating ability that should be really cool but it works so strangely that it is oftentimes not a lot of fun. For some reason the game severely limits how high you can go with the levitate, this makes it frustrating to platform as if you are not in the exact right spot when you levitate you won’t get enough height to get to the platform, this is annoying if there is a platform beneath youtube land on and frustrating if there is no floor and doing so will result in death. Difficulty in the game comes from enemies being bullet sponges, as you get further in the game enemies will have more health thus increasing the difficulty. This way of having difficulty increase is not interesting at all and is just painful to play through especially with rather generic combat. Exploration is a big part of the game and how you get lore in the game and for the most part, the exploration is pretty good with some interesting areas.

    Story

The story is one of the worst aspects of Control, it follows Jesse Faden finally arriving at the FBC to hunt for her brother Dylan. The story quickly goes off the rails as a force called The Hiss invades and Jesse becomes The Director. Next, Jesse must help the FBC get the situation under control to unlock more of the building to lead to Dylan. The world is an incredibly interesting SCP-like world with anomalies and strange items, the setup is incredible as it seems that there are limitless possibilities with this set-up, the lore even features the standard redacted documents like on the SCP wiki. This is why it is so disappointing when the story is just a basic zombie story with a corrupting influence, they could’ve done anything and choose the most boring option, the lore of the game is more interesting than the main story. The characters featured in the main story, with some exceptions, are incredibly one-note and boring. Jesse for example has few emotions and a quirk where she will talk to herself essentially to comment on things that are currently happening in the game, these monologues are quite jarring and really take away from the experience as what is said are things easily deduced or completely unnecessary to have explained. Dylan is an even worse offender of this getting absolutely no build-up or connection to the main character. The game tells us we should care for Dylan but doesn’t show us why, a big part of the game’s story revolves around a specific incident from Jesse and Dylan’s childhood but we never see or experience this event as the player, it is only talked about and alluded to mainly in the optional collectibles, it is completely baffling that they would not have this very important incident be something playable or at least in a cutscene. The game attempts to set up a potential twist where The Hiss might actually be a good thing and the FBC might be the evil ones, however, this idea only shows up halfway through the game after you’ve spent hours working with the FBC and having them help you save people and them help you out, it is so jarring and not set up at all that it is completely unbelievable that The Hiss would actually be good. The set-up of the story is so good but the payoff and actually story and how it is presented fall short.

    Conclusion

Control is a game of missed potential, I wouldn’t recommend buying it.

Too many side subjects, texts that contain the background of the main story and require a lot of time to read. Even if you read everything, the whole story will not be complete again. There are two additional DLCs, which explain a little about all the events in the agency, but they are paid. Frequent repetitions of exactly the same opponents, as well as going through the same areas of the agency over and over again, are extremely frustrating. As for physics and shooting, short, brilliant! Remedy is the absolute champion in that segment. The best and most realistic shooting feeling in gaming history. The gameplay is exceptional, with many abilities providing unlimited ways to interact with objects and enemies. The design of the game is great, but at times the graphics look extremely bad, pale and blurry. There is a lack of budget. Minus the charge for the next-gen update.

    SRB:
Najbolji i najrealističniji osećaj pucanja u gaming istoriji.

Pretty good! The setting was absolutely stellar and parts of the story worked well, especially all of the videos and files you pick up along the way, but the main story and the ending brought it down a bit.

Jesse Faden is summoned to an imposing office building while searching for her lost brother, and pretty soon she finds her way into the mystery of other dimensions and powerful artifacts disguised as everyday objects.

The Oldest House is definitely one of the best locations I can remember from a video game and it holds up everything about the game that might falter. Exploring each of the sections and uncovering all of the mysteries made for an awesome experience, for sure!

On the other hand, the characters came off little silly-being quirky or weird for the sake of it. None of them are particularly memorable or interesting.

The powers were fantastic, though! Flying around or throwing objects with telekinesis is always fun. It can be a bit frustrating to try and solve a puzzle without knowing that you need to acquire a specific power first. Not a huge deal, though.

There are also quite a few great accessibility options in the settings that made the game way less frustrating for someone like me who was mostly playing for the story. I definitely think that more games should go in this direction for my own sanity.

The ending was definitely half-baked. It really felt abrupt and there was no closure at all. I'm looking forward to the DLC to see if that wraps up the story and I will update my review accordingly.

Everything they do is aimed to get more money also from those who paid premium for the game already. Pushing to buy another copy of the game to have an XS upgrade and even to play DLCs. This is lame.

The characters are mysterious and interesting (Before I played I thought Jesse was a generic protagonist but wow, I loved her)

Soundtrack (I am still addicted to 2 specific songs and if you played you will know which ones are lol)

    Negative points:

    FPS drop at certain times

Note: I really think this game was underestimated, it's a masterpiece

It's modern Devil May Cry 3 or some 2000 era crap. Bosses are over powered, NO USEFUL TUTORIAL FOR UNLOCKING MOD SLOTS, UPGRADING ABILITIES. CAN'T CUSTOMIZE/UPGRADE ANYTHING OUTSIDE CONTROL POINTS, IF DEAD, GAME LOADS FROM CONYROL POINT MEANING PLAYER HAS TO KILL THE ENEMIES AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING OF CONTROL POINT IF HE DIES. I call this a BUG, because in 2021 it cannot be a feature. It's modern Devil May Cry 3 or some 2000 era crap. Bosses are over powered, NO USEFUL TUTORIAL FOR UNLOCKING MOD SLOTS, UPGRADING ABILITIES. A stylish shooter that subverts and surprises at every turn. A little glitchy, though. [Issue#182, p.79]

Control has that signature Remedy feel to it, from its unique combat to its completely out there narrative, something only Sam Lake could be a part of. Although the story is Control’s strongest asset, it will take a lot of concentration and thought to piece it all together, as I’ve still got many questions even after the credits have rolled. Luckily you can continue Jesse’s journey once completed, allowing you to finish up any sidequests and other activities as we wait on the upcoming DLC that will hopefully answer more questions. Welcome to the FBC Director.

Control is Remedy's most daring work. A courageous level design that encourages exploration and limits visual guides is mixed with fierce combat. In the second half, this combate can be somewhat monotonous and repetitive. Its story is neither the best nor is it told in the best way. Quite the opposite of its setting, which seduces the player with shocking scenarios and situations.
