The core mechanic of coffee making is great once you get a rhythm for it, the game welcomes experimentation as long as it's not too drastic, the characters are likable and have charm, and the story is entertaining despite being just everyday problems and conversations. Please try this game, because you will more than likely not be disappointed. Also, the music is absolutely astounding and easily the best part of the game, combining lo-fi with jazz and a bit of techno. I quite love it. Expand

As you advance you gain access to more drink recipes. You will be asked to make drinks you don't know, with little hints as to how to make them. The drink crafting system utilizes a combination of three ingredients to make each drink. Getting a drink wrong, or serving an alternate drink can alter the flow of the game, enticing you to go back and try again, attempting to figure out what drinks you got wrong the first time. The story spans over two weeks, in which time you get to know most of your clientele quite well. The soundtrack is a smooth lo-fi set of tunes, enhancing the chill factor of the Cafe, and keeping the overall mood. Coffee Talk is an enriching game that touches on a lot of real-world issues, and touchy ones at that. It handles all of these issues well without becoming partial or pushing any agendas. This game was a great experience, and the stories are deep, granting you the feel of knowing these characters, personally relatable or not! Expand

The gameplay is meaningless. All you can do is make hot drinks but it has no bearing on the narrative. I looked it up, there are unlocks but no matter what you do the story is the story.

So the story is PRETTY IMPORTANT! Too bad it is the laziest tropes and an offensive grafting of the "its about racism but it is orcs and elves as the minorities". It is just as lazy as that Will Smith

I "played" this for an hour and got through a few in-game days and when it was not cringe-inducing or offensive it was BORING! I quit because I started to fall asleep playing and thought "what am I doing?!"

At first I will say I got this from games with gold which means I didn't really pay for it which will improve my rating. Second this game is an digital novel where you as the player don't really have any choices to influence the story. So this is more of an interactive book review than a game review.

For the gameplay the only thing you can do is make coffee latté art, make some hot drinks and pres a to see next line of text. There isn't really much besides that. But from the story and characters is where this game really shines. All the characters feel unique and always have something interesting to talk about. Its really amazing how good these characters are written and its just so hard to describe that thats the reason why you should check this game/novel out. Also the vibe of the place where the whole story is good that i often found myself so immersive in the place that I would make a cup of coffee or tea myself just to in the vibe with these characters. A big part of the vibe was also the amazing soundtrack that i also immediatly downloaded when finished. The last thing I need to say which makes this novel so special is that I never felt lonely in this entire game because their always was someone to talk with ingame which is crazy in my opinion!

So I am going to rate this game a 8/10 for the amazing experience of 5 hours long (I am really bad at reading so you will finish it probably faster). But I have a final warning to people that don't like to read or don't seek for relaxing games i have to say: this may not be a game for you and if thats the case please skip this game. (unless you want to try it out of course but don't rate this game badly because it isn't for you.)

I'm at the beginning of my writing career myself and I had the chance not to miss the game owing to the Xbox game pass. It has enchanting short stories along with the main story and it's my favorite part of the game. It's well written and I'm happy I didn't miss this fantastic game.

Coffee Talk gameplay is minimal but not less meaningful considering it's how you give certain inputs to get a reaction from your customers. Coffee Talk is an extremely pleasant experience from start to finish that tackles some difficult social issues in the process. The characters are extremely charming and the writing is very well done. I found myself rooting for these characters and looking forward to each day at the coffee shop to see who would show up and where those situations would leave them. I am happy to report that it did not disappoint.

What you should be preparing yourself for is a game with massive dialogue and very little in the way of ‘gaming’. It’s not a detriment, as it helps the experience standout, and I couldn’t stop once I was fully invested in all the characters. Plus, it’s a quirky Indie and fringe developers need all the help we can give them. So pull up a stool and order something warm, this might just become your new favourite cafe.

Coffee Talk is far from a bad way to spend a few evenings, with some interesting characters and stories being told. For me though, the same sounding ‘voice’ to each character, lack of real weight behind the issues it tries to raise and the uninteresting coffee making aspects bring the whole package down. I applaud the Toge Productions for trying to create something different, and hope they can refine this into something a little more fleshed out down the line.
