    3/10 not enough light, not enough children, kidding obviously, but the battles are a little repetitive. In my opinion it's a beautiful game, and it's well made and everything but it just doesn't hold my attention.

It seems perfect for a 12 year old or something. The story is good enough for an adult to enjoy enjoy, but its basic enough for a child to understand... Overall I score this game Above Average because I expected a little more, a little more story, more exploration, its a very basic game, If It was $60 I would give it a 4! But for 15$ Its definitely slightly above average, its worth it just to enjoy the beautiful graphics!… Expand

    If you are a fan of classic old school RPG going back 15+ years or so you owe it to yourself to not miss this game. Fantastic visuals, sound and game play, especially the combat! The game is near pure perfection and totally addictive. Huge skill trees, multiple characters to fortify your party as well as gem crafting to improve your weapons, I simply can't say enough and all for $15 bones!!

    This game is by far my favorite indy game this year. It has amazing graphics, great controls that are very simple and easy to learn, and it has just enough rpg elements to make the platforming seem less tedious. The battle system works very well and after many hours of playtime I have not once gotten frustrated or battled a boss that felt unfair or cheap.     This JRPG is perfect for a JRPG novice such as myself. As someone who can only really remember playing final fantasy, and eternal sonata in detail, I definitely can only play this genre when the combat system keeps things interesting and the art style keeps they eye from wandering. To me the combat system in CoL is perfect. Its not to complicated, but the variety of ways you can approachThis JRPG is perfect for a JRPG novice such as myself. In the end this game is one we all can enjoy, I think JRPG fanatics are going to have a blast, and those of us who haven't played one in a while can get a nice refreshing dose of nostalgia.… Expand

    The game is beautiful. I have to say I really enjoyed the game. Its not just the gameplay thats enjoyable. It was the whole experience and atmosphere. My only con on this game is that it ended to short. Rigth when you get powerful its basically end game.. Yeah its indie...wish there would be some DLC or a sequel

    A beautiful beautfiul game, and the story is nice and relaxing, I do however find myself lost at times where to go and I find the combat scenarios a tad repetitive but that's my only minor criticism

    A beautiful game. Simplely beautiful, it can be very difficult at times but the way the game works is breath taking, i had never really played an indie game before this, but this game is just, i cant say it enough, beautiful.

    Amazing! I got it for free through xbox gold and was really surprised by the game play and the quality of the storyline! Finished the game a few weeks ago and still have the music in my head :D

    The game is basically two genres mixed together. A platforming adventure at heart with quick turn based combat when you engage enemies. Unfortunately it is not particularly good at either. The platforming is easy and uneventful with some nice puzzles and cut scenes to mix it up. The platforming    Adventure? RPG? Platformer? Turn based strategy? Story? I'm not sure this game knows either.

The platforming is easy and uneventful with some nice puzzles and cut scenes to mix it up. The platforming Occasionally has you miss attacking objects or negotiating windy tracks, But thats about it, nothing too interesting, difficult or new.

    The combat is where the gameplay is really at. Quick turns means you have to plan your next attack but it does pause before you commit your action allowing you to think about what's best to do. Some actions/attacks are faster and allow you to 'interrupt' enemies slower casting attacks. But that's about it. Once you have worked out the best combo then all is needed is to repeat it over and over until victory. Nothing amazing.

    The story and characters are childish but dull so I'm not sure of what age it was aimed at. It was neither offensive, enlightening, funny or captivating but it is east to follow.

    It's an open world map but it might as well be linear as there's only really two directions to travel: left or right.

    Just screams of averageness. It's good for a small developer I guess but it's not ground braking like FTL or Minecraft. Anybody who has rated this a 1/10 or a 10/10 clearly has no idea how to rate a game and needs ignoring.    … Expand

    I Gonna be honest, i wish there were more unique games like this,ubi-soft has done awsome job..i just started this game this morning and it gives me that good feeling i used to get when i played super mario 2 and 3 for the first time on nintendo..wow factor a 10..BUY THIS GAME GUYS its worth more than the price what a deal...AWSOME...and looks awsome on XBOXONE...GREAT JOB UBI-SOFT

    This is easily the highest quality indie game I've ever played, plus it's super cheap. As the reviews have said, the graphics are breath-taking, and it's quality as an RPG is hard to match. Overall just a really great game.

    Child of Light is one of those games that transports you into another world and creates a serene, calm, and tranquil environment through the use of beautiful imagery and a soothing musical score. The game makes you really feel like your in a fairytale-esque dream. Most importantly, the gameplay feels very attuned with the story and atmosphere. The protagonist's movement feels very natural and smooth and the controls and response time are perfect. Also, the absence of a HUD, really enhances the world coming to life. The combat is decent along with the gameplay in between the combat. The thing that really makes this game stand out is how well everything seems to flow together. The game just feels very natural and easy to play as if it was a game made out of a dream. Downsides for me was because its combat was turn based, it could get kinda repetitive. Having played many turn based rpgs, I'm a bit tired of them when there is a lot of enemies. Your enjoyment of this game will depend on how much turn based action you can stand. Also, the crafting gems system can be kind of confusing and annoying. I love the atmosphere, but wish the gameplay was more than just collecting gems and potions and generic turn based combat. Give it a try though if you like the atmosphere of the world.… Expand

Let me start of by the saying the whole game has been hand drawn using the rayman engine which to me for a 10 pound game (UK currency) is simply fantastic. The amount of detail and craftsmanship that has been poured into this game is fa-nominal. The story isWow here is a shining example of a game done right. Everything about this game from the story to the combat is simply a masterpiece. The whole game and story is told with poetry though this may not appeal to everyone it still tells the story beautifully in my opinion. The game play is unique and fresh setting it apart from many other turn based strategy games. Overall the game is a masterpiece and I recommend it to be played by anyone and especially rpg fans. For 10 pounds this is a steal and is well worth the price. For anyone that has any doubts about buying this game please do its one that cant and shouldn't be missed!     By the way for those who think this is an indie, it's not it's made by Ubisoft, who clearly have decided and correctly to my opinion to price their games reasonably. This has the standard gameplay of 12+hours most PS4 titles have at a fraction of the price (take MGS for example with a quarter of the gameplay). The Graphics engine was created for Rayman, so they price this very reasonably considering they use the same engine, instead of selling rinse and repeat products for an arm and a leg. Every signle title this company has ever produced is at the least respectable. I will continue buying their products. I don't want to spend £55 to play a bad game for 12 hours.

    I hope more studios follow this road. Current prices on new games do not reflect the amount of effort put into them, with shallow storylines, bad voice acting, buggy gameplay mechanics. Only the graphics are at a good level in most games you are called to pay £55 for. I don't care for graphics that much to be honest. I enjoy old NES/SNES games the same as good more modern titles like Mass effect or Far Cry.

    Thumbs up for Ubisoft both for this and Rayman Legends which is also very affordable and up to now the most awesome game in next-gen consoles. They always put a lot of effort into their games and seem to care about satisfying the game community, apart from helping them part with their hard-earned money.    … Expand

    Alright so I've only played Child of Light for just over an hour and a half, so take this with a pinch of salt...     - Fighting is actually rather challenging, but in a good way and certainly makes turn based combat (which usually is a turn off for me) really engaging because there's actually a timer for how long until the next move, and with "Firefly", a light, you can actually have the advantage and slow enemies' attacks, thus allowing you to attack before your opponent.
    - Art style is actually beautiful and it really won't matter what platform you get it on; even on Xbox One, it still looks fantastic and I don't think it would matter on any platform.
    - The entire environment craves to be explored and there's some nice secrets to be discovered too =]

    [ [ The Meh ] ]
    - Your inventory will fill up quite a bit so for a while you'll be waiting for a reason to use potions.
    - Not entirely sure where they are going with the story but from what I gather, it might be going down a "Sleeping Beauty" route. After all, the main character's name is "Aurora".
    - Controlling Firefly can be a little hard but you'll get used to it... sort of...

    - The dialogue is a little... off. I mean characters try to rhyme with each other and other times it just feels like they're over thinking the dialogue; there are rhymes which just sound cheap.

    Not a game but very all over the place, it doesn't give you a chance to decide when to play the final mission which i think is stupid because i want to finish all the side missions before i play the final quest,the game loses all its interest when you finish the storyline and you feel left in wanting. Beautifully done. Moves are average but i love the different characters.     This redefines boring. The game is slow, repetative and uninteresting, only the easy achivements kept me going for a while. Not recommending this to anyone.

    It took itself way too seriously. It would be a solid 8 if it didn't overdesign the RPG aspect of it (it's a simple indie game, no need to have 80% of the time having to do lengthy RPG fights) and the poetry was way too corny. This game would be much better if it kept it simple with the RPG design and if the writing was more organized and less gloomy.

Of course there is no 3D-graphic but the game brings brilliant scenes in 2D to you - all carefully rich painted. The music in the background makes the atmosphere very good.     Best game for now on JRPG this year on consoles. I really love this game great music. The price seems some what right. The graphics visually is superb especially the combat. This game clearly sucks you in.

The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that although I do like the rhyming that the characters use, I don't really think they needed it for every piece of dialogue. Ici, une petite princesse de CE2 remplace l'autiste : elle aussi, elle saute et même qu'elle donne des coups d'épée ! à ce copié-collé, Ubisoft a rajouté une couche de japoniaiserie bien niaise avec notamment un système de combat tout droit sorti de Final fientasy !

    Un juego bastante sencillo pero que guarda toda esa magia de los RPG, un juego con una historia entretenidas, unos gráficos buenos que te envolverá en un cuento de hadas, es un juego bastante bueno que lo disfrutaras de principio a fin y que le debe dar una oportunidad que te envuelva en su historia de princesas.

    Superb game! Got it free with xbox gold but wish I had bought it when it came out. My daughter loved watching me play it, then when we realized she could play the firefly on the other controller it made it that much better! She got to learn a LOT about old school RPG and basic mechanics and terms. The music to this game is incredible. The graphics just FIT the game's whole theme andSuperb game! Only thing that could have been improved on is maybe a more coherent reason for her coming back again (both times) and some additional scenes of what happens to the characters during the ending credits.… Expand

    A very charmig and well designed little game with pretty graphics and fantastic music. Gameplay and combat feels smooth. I never felt bored, I enjoyed every second.

    I was really surprised at how much I liked this game. The animation was wonderful, and the music was beautiful. In fact, I purchased the sound track. I was transported to another world in this game and, unlike with so many other games, am perfectly happy with the purchase price. You get a lot for $15.
