    Decent enough COD game, campaign is short and fairly enjoyable, characters are okay and some missions have variety. Multiplayer is simaler to it was years ago, fun enough with friends for a few games, cant complain about the game itself at all. Fairly solid COD game.     Game non-functional. Purchased through Xbox store, downloaded, and it will only bring up the Warzone launcher. When trying to use Modern Warfare, it says "Data Packs Missing" even after I confirmed on my Xbox that they are downloaded and installed. When I try to open the download manager in the launcher itself, it crashes back to the main menu. When I try to see downloaded packs in theGame non-functional.     Terrible game on Xbox Series X and PS5.

    Audio stutter, problems with data files not being installed after an update, and even if you have all the data files installed according to the game, it still claims some are missing. Crashes galore, your level being reset for no good reason. Lots of error codes when joining games, crashes when editing loadouts.     Also, the terrible decision to share things with the other recent COD files like Vanguard, Black Ops and Warzone, means that good luck figuring out which guns in your collection can be used in which game. Literally the same game will lists guns as usable in one place and not let you use them in another.

    Since there doesn't seem to be an incentive to fix these bugs seeing as some of them has been in the game from day one, it was essentially released as abandonware from day one.

    Great graphics but, mediocre campaign, the levels are boring and very generic. Please no more politics and agendas in video games.

    I understand that this game has a lot of content which I will give it praise for but most of the maps are too big with too many camping spots and is it just me or does the new engine feel inferior and too weird compared to the older one?

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Generic cliche "murica saves the day against evil russians" campaign. Story isnt that great, its just same hollywood like cliche "One man saves the day" story. Price's voice actor is not good as old actor. The other memorable characters are missing, I hope they appear in the sequel. Gameplay, graphics, animation, gun sounds and reloading animations are much improved than previous CoD installments, but it is not enough reason to give this game positive score. CoD MW 2019 is very nice example of US government funded corporate propaganda and pandering. MW2 was much better in story, it had both evil american general and evil russians.
    This game is good game if you don't remember how USA assassinated democratic leaders in south america because they tried to do something good for their nations instead of supporting US corporations. if you don't remember how US soldiers committed multiple war crimes in vietnam, iraq, libya, syria and afghanistan, and even killed their own allies and got away without any punishment (Cavalese cable car disaster, Yangju highway incident). If you don't remember how USA orchestrated 9-11 attacks and killed their own 3000 people to justify their invasion of middle east and afghanistan. If you don't remember how USA installed fascist dictatorships in South america, and installed monarchy in Iran. The truth IS USA and NATO are #1 terrorists in the world.    … Expand

Not only do most Americans not think Russians are the monsters portrayed in this game, but Activision seems to have convinced Russians that we do. This propaganda does nothing but stir hate toward the US. Too much politics in this campaign.

    Multiplayer is trash ,campers are everywhere because map design are ass and gun damage is atrocious ,moving around disavantage you beacause you make so much noise that camping is the only was to not get killed everytime ,not fun at all ,maps aren't good either and it's laggy (Matchmaking is an issue too)

    The absolute worst multiply in the entire history of the franchise. The maps and spawn system are so terrible they detract from any positive aspects that might be considered to give it a better rating. IW has proven in their last three games they can no longer make a decent multiplayer shooter. Going forward, I'm skipping their games.

Multiplayer is unplayable from a competitive perspective. Spawns follow little to no logic. Enemies will spawn directly into your crosshairs multiple times a game. Holding “anchor” for spawns in a competitive match is useless now. The game just spawns players anywhere on the map. The maps are made to encourage corner campers, it is impossible to check everywhere. The game has a real problem with peaker’s advantage, and angles. When one player may be completely hidden behind a wall on their screen, half of their body will be sticking out on anothers screen. You will often die from an enemy jumping around a corner before you can even see their character. The movement feels very smooth, but the game never works the way it’s supposed to. They don’t focus on fixing any problems. Especially for xbox users, you will often feel like activision is giving xbox the middle finger. Xbox has the most issues. All in all, I wish I never wasted my time on this game. If the next COD isn’t good, i wouldn’t buy any more in the future.… Expand

    I'm so tired of this game. The servers are just unplayable for anyone outside the city. They have minimal and over crowed servers. For example to many east servers and pretty much NO west servers. The servers themselves are just TERRIBLE

    I want to start off say everyone states the same thing on every COD it's this or that that makes the game bad. I however find the real reason COD multiplayer is so bad is because of all the gimmick accessories and hacks that can be bought online to give an unfair advantage to ppl. Ever since COD has allowed scuff controllers to be used, the game has been nothing but a pain for most ppl. If scuffs are allowed and aim hacks allowed then we need them released with every xbox ppl buy so no one has the upper hand or don't allow these accessories for ppl to have a slight edge. COD was great when we frowned on players that use cheap tactics to win and modded controllers but now everyone defends these things and says just adpt and get good. No one likes playing against ppl with all the BS accessories you can use. To put it this way if this game was football how many ppl would hate football and stop watching if some quarterbacks could use glue and spikes on their shoes? No one would watch and everyone would be pissed but since it is a game ppl say its no big deal and still the same ppl that say its no big deal are the ones that are using cheap tactics and sweating their *** off saying its a sport. Well which is it? If it's sport don't allow dropshots and halo jump spamming and scuffs in the game and set rules and guidelines that must be followed or frowned upon like any other sport. If it's not a sport then stop being a tryhard to make every kill as cheap and unfair as you can. It's this logic that has ruined the game that no one talks about. COD was good because most ppl played for fun and was sportsmans about the game and frowned on being dirty(like camping and laying down in BO1 was very frowned upon and even bannable). I'm not arguing with some kid that wants to number crunch and weasel his stance for scuffs and halo jumping and drop shotting to win. If it is not cheap then why is it so controversial and not everyone can agree upon whats right or wrong? A simple fix is too just ban these ppl and implement rules that can be followed by everyone and not just an up in the air debate. COD needs rules of what you can and can't use and do. (simple) This would make it clear of what's right and wrong and gives everyone a fair game. I'm just saying if ppl are getting so ridiculous that not one match can be fun because everyone is being cheap and tryharding every match and want to treat the game like a sport then we need rules and better guidelines to follow or ppl need to have fun and stop tryharding.     I wish I loved the game, but i don't. Been a fan of Cod since the first Call of Duty games. The maps are pretty boring, too big. It's all about riot shields, RPG, shotguns and sniping.     The way IW is doing SBMM is never, and I say again NEVER going to work out. My team is always bad just because my KDR is above 1.0 and even force me to miss shots just because I had too many kills. The SJW of video games. Whoever came up with these map designs should be fired ASAP.

    The design choices Infinity Ward have made are incomprehensible. Every single new mechanic they've introduced has been an utter disaster. Doors in multiplayer? Mounting your weapon to cover? It's like they played Rainbow Six Siege for 25 minutes and decided to include that game's mechanics without a second thought.

    Every decision they've made in the multiplayer punishes player movement. Between the mounting-your-weapon-to-every-conceivable-piece-of-cover mechanic — giving every player a laser-beam gun so long as they remain motionless, the door mechanic promoting stagnant, chokepoint-y gameplay, and claymores being a level-one unlock, it is impossible to move in the game. Also, because no one is moving, the amount of engagements per game is minuscule compared to other Call of Duty titles.

    I have so many notes that I’m just going to rapid-fire through these.

    The time to kill is ungodly fast.

    The create-a-class system is a convoluted mess.

    The in-game footsteps too loud (again, punishing player movement).

    Piccadilly and Azhir Cave aren’t even maps; they’re torture devices that Infinity Ward have somehow condensed and funnelled into video-game form. They’re so bad that whenever they come up in the rotation, I quit and find a new lobby because there isn’t a map vote system (!).

    But, that’s probably fine, you say. I can always play on the *checks notes* six other new maps. Is that it? To be fair, that number has gone up with the seasons one and two updates, sitting at 13 standard 6v6 maps as of the launch of season two. But, of those 13 maps, five are playable.

    Shipment is a completely broken map — the fact is was released to the public at all is unacceptable AND after the latest "patch" to the spawns, it's STILL broken. In fact, the overall map design is absolutely atrocious. The best maps in the game — Crash and Vacant —are from an older, better Call of Duty game that was released 13 years ago.

    I don't understand how Infinity Ward did it, they’ve made the most derivative, annoying, frustrating, unfun Call of Duty game of all time. Never again, Infinity Ward. Never again will you have another dime out of me. I’ll still play older titles in the franchise, but you’ve singlehandedly driven me from purchasing another Call of Duty game. I am kicking myself for having paid money for this game. Now you couldn’t pay me to play it. Congratulations, and so long.

    Campaign is amazing, one of the best I have played for a cod game.

    Multiplayer is a mess and the Devs should be **** ashamed to release this like of crap. Want something that looks cool, gotta pay more money. Camera angles are broken as hell. Hit detection does not work you shoot first shore more hits and die anyway. Spec ops is just lazy and again a broken **** mess.

    I’ve been playing call of duty since CoD 2 days and have played every iteration in between with thousands and thousands of hours gaming time... there have been ups and down along the way but Modern Warfare is a nail in the coffin as far as I’m concerned.

    This game is cancer, there is little I like about it bare the movement mechanics and graphics....

    The story mode is painfully slow paced and boring, dimly lit and far too tactical to really have much fun... you have to sweat even in campaign mode LOL.

    But that’s not even 1% of what is wrong with this **** show. The online experience is nothing short of a brain aneurism.

    I genuinely find myself having to psych myself up mentally before I even switch the game on at this point... I tell myself to just try and have fun don’t focus on the bull**** just run and gun, rush a flew b flags, try and at least have some fun but no.

    Between the SBMM and the awful hit detection and stupid TTK, awful map design, **** spawns and glitchy audio you just can’t enjoy it.

    I somehow have 2 days play time which I find hard to believe as I can’t even go 2 to 3 matches without having to turn the game off due to the anger it makes me feel. No CoD has ever made me this stressed to play.

    Not to mention the fact the battle pass is wack and the latest update somehow wiped all my CoD Points id collected which in normal circumstances would have really pissed me off however I couldn’t really care less on this game because I’m never going to play it long enough to warant saving cod points for skins or weapons etc.

    The game was already cancer before the latest update however they’ve decided to slap the old school cod lovers in the face again by ruining two perfectly good maps, vacant isn’t too bad apart from the new safe space outside and the fact they moved the position of the bins near the old jump shot so the only way to get a line of site down the long corridor is to climb the bin below the window and inevitably get killed before you even make it half way.

    But SHIPMENT... seriously don’t get me started on shipment... just play a game for yourself I don’t even have the energy to write out everything that’s wrong with that map... just utter **** The worst spawns in FPS history by a country mile.

    There’s literally maybe 2-3 half decent online maps the rest are actual crap...

    The game is seriously not right, not to mention that in recent days it takes me upwards of 10 minutes to find a full lobby without players backing out because we have no choice of map or ability to vote so when we get one of the **** maps which statistically is about 80% chance then everyone backs out and you fail to even start a game which creates stress before you even get into the game which causes heart attack levels of stress LOL!

    Why does every single game go to the time limit? A 10 v 10 and the maps are so big that after the game ends the top player might be lucky to have 15 kills that’s like 1 kill per minute some games unless you spawn trap and can avoid being killed by the countless campers this games pace has created.

    I’m honestly about to uninstall the game and not even consider redownloading until massive changes are made because at this stage the game is unplayable for a serious player. I average a 3.0 KD or thereabouts across all the other games yet this game I can barely keep a 1.5 because of the SBMM... every game I play feels like an MLG sweat fest World Series final with millions on the line, every player on both teams is sweating heavily and we’re all of a good quality so it’s barely even possible to do well most games you and the rest of the lobby will scrape just above or below a 1.0 KD... that is not fun IW... we are casual gamers who want to have fun after a stressful day at work or school for the younger generation and this game is literally a mental health hazard it gives me migraines and can literally ruin my whole night because of how badly it annoys me that my favourite game franchise is going down the ****ter. I could go on for hours but if anybody actually takes the time to read this before buying just don’t... it’s not worth the stress and anger plus the money it will cost you.     The game came out great! I loved how everything I wanted I had to work for it! Earn it. Not pay money like almost every other game. But now after they added their greedy corporate microtransactions I've hated the game... now all the stuff everyone has worked for is inept to all the flashy new stuff that ppl can just pay for now.     I paid $99 for them steelbok special edition. Played it starting with early access. Enjoyed the single player campaign, and multiplayer was pretty good. Got to level 144 before season one made me start back at 55. What do you get for playing the hell out of the game? I was actually looking forward to this game, until I played it. I put two days into this game, but I just uninstalled it and won't be back. I will never buy another COD game again.

    This game is for children, it marketed itself as a gritty first person mature experience. At the end of the day it’s the same old Call of Duty experience. The absolute last one I will buy, very disappointed in my purchase.

Multiplayer camp fest, zero online achievements, not even for lvl 55 like other cod games, no incentive to play online with zero achievements to earn. The death sound when dying from a headshot or knife is terribly loud. It sounds like a cannon going off in real life. It’s so loud it makes me want to just not play.

Also, there isn't any music playing on most levels. What the hell Activision?

    And, yeah, Infinity Ward also lied about "grey morale": all Russian soldiers are evil in the sake of being evil. They are killing civilians, women and children without any reasons or logic behind their actions. If you are trying to make an interesting enemy — at least give them SOME motivation or ideology. Even Nazis in the COD: WW2 wasn't such monsters as Russians in new COD: MW. The Americans and British soldiers, in contrast, are heroes that even in the "torture" episode aren't actually torturing anyone. You can't even shot the terrorist's wife in the leg to make him talk — the game won't allow you to. Because Americans never tortured any terrorists in Guantanamo or Iraqi prisons, of course. Or 'cause USA and UK are the most important markets for COD games. It isn't the game about the dark side of war as they promised. It isn't a fun shooting gallery as previous COD games. It's the stupidest, tasteless propaganda I've seen in my entire life. Activision is trying to be provoking, but they don't have balls to do it properly. For example, we all understand that this fictional Urzikstan country is meant to represent Syria, but devs are afraid to say it out loud.

    If you don't give a ..ck about the singleplayer campaign — I have bad news for you, 'cause multiplayer sucks too. It's trying to be the COD, Battlefield and Counter-Strike at the same time... and it fails to be anything. It's too laggy, unpolished and unplayable.

    Modern Warfare (2019) is the worst part of Call of Duty. Actually, it's the worst shooter I've played in years. And it's one more disappointment in a neverending chain of disappointments from modern Activision-Blizzard.     The system operators are lier. They said that Mice users and Pad users will be separated. But if you turn of cross matching, usually meet together. Mice users are easily slaughter pad users. Mice users always take advantages and system operators don’t care about it. If you are pad users and Xbox users, do not buy this game. It just will make you feel furious and waste of money.

    New year, Same CoD. Seems like they could of done a better job copying Battlefield. Customer Support is a joke as usual. Kinda upset I fell for it again. Activision ruined the Call of Duty franchise at this point.

    First of all, It’s funny watching all the butt hurt russians pissed that their **** hole country that is actually quite evil and whose recent history is a bit dodgy (soviet union anyone) is the bad guy in this game. Yes we know who you are by your terrible English. Campaign is great, multiplayer is one of the worst yet.

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare serves up the freshest take on a stale formula in years, with a new engine and revitalised multiplayer mode that takes full advantage of a finely-tuned weapon customisation system and some welcome changes to ballistic mechanics. While Spec Ops fails to deliver much long-term attraction, the story mode proves there’s plenty of justification for a narrative element in a modern shooter. Free maps and updates bring everyone onto the same page in multiplayer, but Infinity Ward's take on the battle pass template still needs some work.

    If you don’t mind being killed by the odd nuke – how anyone can score 30 consecutive kills is beyond our tiny minds – PvP could swallow your damn life. Pair it with a gutsy (if insensitive) campaign, and this tonally conflicted series continues to stay relevant thanks to the best guns in the biz. [Issue#184, p.68]
