    The Wild West theme might have been done multiple times over the years but without a doubt it’s one of my most favourite settings and when done right it can make a game very enjoyable. For the most part Bombslinger does the Wild West theme justice and despite it suffering with a few problems here and there I found myself enjoying the game quite a bit. The gameplay that’s present has a very similar style to Bomberman and that’s a good thing because Bomberman is awesome. It’s not a Bomberman clone though because it does have its own ideas which in turn create a very addictive experience. You will however have to deal with a few frustrating moments along the way and the gameplay can take a while to get used to because it can be overly difficult at times, but when everything flows correctly you end up getting a very rewarding feeling once you complete a level. To help you combat the difficulty you will find a generous amount of upgrades along the way and thankfully these upgrades actually help and I was very impressed with the amount of variety each upgrade possessed. Whilst the upgrades were very good using them felt a little bit fiddly and that was down to the controls. The controls felt awkward from time to time and the lack of precision was very annoying especially when there was a lot of enemies to defeat on the screen. Speaking about enemies I was very impressed with the design of them. Each enemy moves and plays differently and the amount of variety in each enemy is very high, which in turn means the gameplay stays fresh and interesting for longer. In terms of content there is more than enough to keep you satisfied for quite a while. It has both single player and multiplayer offerings and this means the game offers you quite a bit of replayability. I will say though that I enjoyed the game more when I played it alone and that was mainly because I thought the multiplayer lacked the fun factor a little bit, which is a shame. As I said earlier in my review I absolutely love the western style and thankfully they’ve captured this extremely well in the presentation side of things. Visually the game has a nice look to it and when you combine that with the Wild West sound design you end up having even more fun. At the end of the day Bombslinger is one of them games that is perfect for a quick romp every now and then and these romps will definitely provide you with some fun. Without a doubt though the game would have been even better if it didn’t suffer with a few niggling problems but when it’s all said and done these problems don’t stop me from recommending the game to you.… Expand

    Ultimately, Bombslinger takes the Bomberman concept and runs with it. It's a whimsical, engaging and hugely entertaining bomb 'em up that will keep you coming back, even when the Bombslinger’s thirst for vengeance is slaked.

    Bombslinger provides a challenging, detailed, diverse and well developed experience. There’s no denying that its unique spin on the formula provides it with a compelling edge, though with that being said, this game does become repetitive, tedious and frustrating before too long. Still, it’s well worth a visit if you’re looking for something to fill the void before Super Bomberman R arrives.

    At the end of the day, there is nothing wrong with Bombslinger per se, but it fails to really ignite the multiple player enthusiasm. It is worth playing for the single player however, especially if you’re a fan of randomness and rogue-like elements. Just be aware that you’ll need to be happy looking past the slow, rather painful, first hour or so as you gather up enough loadouts choices for the fun to begin.
