Bloody Zombies arrives to remind us that beat em ups will never go out of fashion, with a frenetic rhythm and an old-school gameplay, it enters the in the Olympus of the best punching games.

With sluggish and unresponsive combat, all of which fails to match the overall speed of the game, Bloody Zombies isn’t the best thing you’ll be playing this year.

They have managed to get the gameplay pretty much spot on, and without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is when playing with friends. They have also added an online component so when your friends aren’t avaliable you can team up with somebody online. I found it very easy to get into a game online and I hardly suffered with any problems, which is great. When it comes to the difficulty curve the game can be a little unforgiving at times, and the idea of having no checkpoints can cause you a great deal of frustration. The movement of the characters can also cause you to be frustrated because they really do move at a snail’s pace. What the game really does well though is that it has a great deal of variety. There are a number of enemies for you to face and they all look and play differently, which is nice. You also have a lot of variety when it comes to the moves you can do and you feel very satisfied when pulling off a decent combo. The presentation side of the game is simple, but at the same time very effective. I was especially fond of the visuals in the game and each level has lots of colour and a nice amount of detail. At the end of the day fans of sidescrolling brawlers will have a lot of fun with Bloody Zombies, and it does stir up some wonderful memories from time to time. It does suffer with a few problems here and there, but they aren’t serious enough to dampen the fun factor. If you have a few friends over then Bloody Zombies will give you a very enjoyable night, and it does more than enough to get a recommendation from me. Full Review »
