The idea of shooting zombies has grown stale over recent years because there’s just so many games that have come out based on that genre. That being said I’ve always got time for a new zombie game so I did have some interest in Blood Waves. Unfortunately when playing Blood Waves though this interest soon turned into frustration and in the end I didn’t enjoy this game, and gave me PS2 style dated feel and a play style . From the moment I started the game then I was introduced to some controls that felt awkward and didn’t always feel as responsive as they should’ve felt often feeling like I was being attack from a blind spot due to the sluggish controls or angles presented. This then meant dying in the game happened a lot and when the awkward controls combined with the very high difficulty curve fun in the game was quickly lost. I would like to say that this feeling was the games only issues, that wasn’t the case because the overall gameplay style gets very repetitive almost instantly and the lack of content meant playing this game was a chore. The content it does have lacks in terms of variety. At the end of the day then Blood Waves doesn’t have too much going for it and the stuff it does have going for it gets lost quickly due to this game’s many control issues. I can’t fully recommend this game to you then because it doesn’t offer much fun and there are far better game’s you can experience in this genre. The one point that is a shining part is in the price of admission. I think sometimes we are overcritical and forget there is some value to be had in a budget title. A few minor fixes could have taken this game much further, for now we will wait and see if we get a patch in the near future. Expand

Blood Waves is mediocre and grotesque at the same time. If you are a fan of the genre maybe you should give it a chance.

All in all, and if you can find it in yourself to take the fight to Blood Waves, then you’ll find a game that lacks sheen and finish in so many ways. Despite very briefly being a bit of fun, it is ultimately missing depth and individuality, which in turn will see it sink into obscurity after a short amount of time.

Blood Waves is bloody awful. The entire game confines its players to a single room, and then expects them to be content with killing the same bland enemies, over and over again. There’s some variation to be found in the game’s pool of weapons, traps, and upgrades, but these generic additions lack depth and excitement. It doesn’t help that the game handles very poorly and very awkwardly throughout. It’s a cheap, repetitive, frustrating cash grab.
