I’ve heard good and bad things about Beholder in recent months and I can understand why now. This game is definitely a mixed bag and it does have its fair share of problems, but on the whole it does get more things right and at times it can be a pretty decent management sim. The gameplay has plenty of things going for it and at times spying and investigating on tenants can be pretty fun. The gameplay has plenty of things going for it and at times spying and investigating on tenants can be pretty fun. I would however have liked a little more variety when it came to the missions because doing the same type of mission does makes things become tedious quite quickly. The game doesn’t lack in variety in all areas though and that’s especially the case when it comes to the choices you can make in the game. With each choice comes a different consequence and this amount of freedom means you can be what you want to be, which is great. I would however have liked these choices to make more of an impact on character development because some of the characters in the game are pretty boring and nothing really spices them up, which is a shame. The story on the whole though is actually pretty good and each playthrough you take part in is completely different so there is definitely some replay value present in the game. I will say though that the game can be pretty difficult at times and it will provide you with some frustration because one mistake can result in it being game over no matter how many hours you’ve sunk in. The presentation side of the game definitely has a lot of charm going for it, especially when it comes to the unique and dark visuals. The sound design has also been done very well because they make things simple yet effective at the same time. At the end of the day I am actually a fan of management sim game’s and Beholder: Complete Edition is a good addition to the genre, but it’s far from perfect. The niggling problems can affect your enjoyment levels somewhat at times and this stops the game from being put into the higher tier of the management sim genre, but fans of the genre will still get quite a bit of enjoyment out of the game. The story and setting will be enough to look past the niggling problems and in the end it does just enough to get a thumbs up from me.… Expand
