Balancelot has you balance the clumsy but fully functional unicycle. Thrust the threatening mythical monsters with your sharpened lance as they sit on your way to glory. Climbing over the dead enemies with your unicycle may be the last climb you take. I had fun trying it out, but it's extremely difficult to master. A satirical medieval themed game that explores the concept of demons taking over a calm and prosperous land. I know, while it’s not the most original start, but bear me out. You are a knight in the making in the quaint and mysterious kingdom of Fopdoodle. Everything was going well until demonic creatures arrived and ruined the peace. Lion-headed demons float around like they own the place, and evil monsters, namely snails, run riot, causing mayhem. Knights are called upon, and new challengers to this role must take part in a jousting tournament to make the grade. Crush your enemies, drive them before you and hear the lamentation of your one-wheeler. If you’re into a challenge and like a unique experience for a good price of admission be sure to check it out on your Xbox One. Expand

You set out on your Unicycle with your trusty Lance that help you balance and also cause your a nightmare of a time. You have the ability to also jump which comes in handy when you need to get over a barrel or black or even the giant snails. These mythical monsters will kill you with a single touch use your lance to kill the first.

The hardest and most frustrating part of this game is the balancing. I don't believe this game suits a controller is more of a motion control game for say the Nintendo Wii etc. I was using a XBOX Series X Controller and found it almost impossible to get past the first level, having died over 60 times I as almost at the quitting stages.

Balancing back and forth while trying to move across the screen, up hills over obstacles is hard enough without throwing in the issue with hitting you head when jumping on a platform causing you death and having to restart from the start or last checkpoint.

Overall...its a unique game with great art that kinda reminds me of the Nintendo Yoshi games. But the sheer frustrating and now my number one hardest game I have every played title, I would have to say, this is not for everyone.

Balancelot on Xbox has over 50 levels to play through, but there isn’t anywhere near enough differentiation between them to keep players entertained. The tapestry style and Monty Python cues can only carry Balancelot so far, especially when things such as the cutscenes and water effects are so badly ported over, which has to be said is unusual for a Ratalaika game.

If I’ve discovered one thing playing Balancealot it’s that physic’s based titles like this are not for me. The controls can be highly frustrating, with the triggers used for movement and the analogue stick used to keep our balance. Having enemies to avoid adds some variety though, and the helpful checkpoints do alleviate some of the frustration, but certainly not all. One for those with patience then.
