Armored Freedom is a waste of time, effort, money and HDD space. The sheer lack of gameplay depth, originality and innovation, grouped with the game’s clear focus on chance rather than skill, makes for an utterly underwhelming and overly frustrating experience. There isn’t a single aspect of Armored Freedom that I can commend. It’s a cheap cash grab, and nothing more.

The presentation side of the game is simple I did enjoy the visuals and sound design every now and then. There is no depth at all when it comes to the strategy elements in the game which means things get repetetive very quickly. The game feels unfair a lot of the time and on the whole it’s just too random which in the end causes you to become very frustrated. In terms of content the game doesn’t have very much at all and the content it does have isn’t varied enough.
I was really disappointed with the combat system in the game because it lacks depth and in the end it’s not very fun at all. The maps in the game are lacklustre to say the least because they feature no creativity whatsoever. I found the game boring even when playing with friends. There’s been a great influx of strategy game’s that have made their way to consoles over recent year’s and whilst it’s not my favourite genre I still enjoy these types of game’s if they’ve been done right. Unfortunately Armored Freedom isn’t one of them game’s and in the end all this game proves to be is a major disappointment. From start to finish this game has a slew of problems and whilst some of these problems are worse than others they all combine together to disintegrate any little fun the game has. I could however have looked past some of these problems if the game had got the strategy elements correct, but unfortunately all you get is a very random strategy style that lacks a lot when it comes to depth. This for me is unforgivable considering the game has very little content for you to get to grips with. At the end of the day then I can’t give a recommendation to you to purchase Armored Freedom in fact the only recommendation I can give is that you steer well clear of this game because it just gets too much wrong.

It reminds me of an old German board game "Mensch ärgere Dich nicht", just with robots and cards. Solo missions are not much thrilling but playing with friends can be funny. If you get a bad hand of cards just restart and start over. Visuals are functional as they look like a digital version of a physical board game but nothing special. There is a good selection of human avatars while robot paws are in board game's traditional green, blue, red and yellow scheme. Battle visual effects are nice, however music is pretty generic. Overall it's a solid board game to kill 10-15 minutes and the price is right. Full Review »
