    You are cast in the role of one of eight heroes/anti-heroes all struggling to take the throne in Armello. You're not the run-of-the mill heroic types in this game either, no red-haired barbarian women, or wily mages. Armello is very much in the tone of Redwall, using anthropomorphic animals to tell the story of a crown up for grabs. See the king, a lion, is quite mad and has been infected by the usurper force of the game - the Rot.

    You have a limited amount of time before the king dies, each night he gains 1 Rot, and each morning he loses 1 health. If he runs out of health, then the hero with the highest prestige wins the game.

    The race is on between bear, wolf, rabbit and rat clans to deal with this problem once and for all.

    Victory comes if you either kill the king, wait out his worsening health or use 4 spirit stones to heal him.

    Once you've chosen your hero, all with various strengths and weaknesses, you pick a ring and an amulet from the ones you have unlocked.

    Now the game begins in earnest and you're vying for power with the other 3 heroes, either other players online, or the AI if you're playing a single player game. The AI in Armello is also pretty good, and it's capable of pulling some pretty human-like surprising moves against you/and each other.

    Armello is a gorgeously made turn based game, the quality of the presentation and the atmosphere, aesthetics, and art style are excellent. Each turn plays out in a bright, colourful manner, or a great looking board with superb animations and brilliantly designed characters. It oozes quality from the get-go and it's hard to pick just one element to talk about, it's all good stuff.    … Expand

    A mediocre board game disguised by pretty videos and art.

    This game is incredibly random, there is no depth and no story, everything is determined by random dice rolls, there are no strategic choices to be made. There are supposed to be various ways to win, but unless someone has a lot of blind luck, the game time will run out and whoever happens to have the highest Prestige value    A mediocre board game disguised by pretty videos and art.

    You constantly have to wait for all your opponents and NPCs to take their turns and that takes a very long time.

    The supposed RPG elements are non-existent.

    The videos and artwork are very pretty but they don't make a good board game alone.    … Expand

The game constatly stutters and games just crash mid champain. It copies systems from other games dumbs the down and adds some generic cutsie chatacters for appeal, to someone idk who..

    Habe dieses Spiel in einem Anflug der Spontanität heruntergeladen. Ich habe hin und wieder ein paar Partien gespielt welche um den Dreh ca. 1 Stunde dauerten (durch Einstellungen aber variabel). Im großen und ganzen ist ein Brettspiel, ob nun digital oder nicht, nunmal stark Glücksabhängig was mir persönlich eigentlich gar nicht liegt. Ich bin eher der Planer und Kalkulator...     Civ V flavor in an hour, Hearthstone-esque card play, vibes of Paper Mario and the most POLITICAL multiplayer I have seen on Xbox yet. I LOVE this game. GT: Sea Bee Blue give me a shout if you wanna play!

    As others have stated, it has turn-based game-play on an overlay map, using card effects drawn each turn like used in a CCG. The characters are animal based and have different abilities for each, and are well done. It has multiplayer, local is nice, online can be hard to find games with a limited player base. Music and art are very nice, my only real complaints is that there is no campaign and the map is the same for every game without any variation outside a seasonal change.     Ahhh...I was hoping for a different experience. And when started it felt like it will be a good game, but no, I got bored just too quick. The game is a little annoying too.

    I really want to love this game. I really do. The gameplay is incredibly solid, the characters are very unique and surprisingly well-balanced for the most part, the art style is absolutely gorgeous, and every game feels unique and interesting. There's a lot about this game that's genuinely amazing.

    But it's all dragged down by the game's awful, AWFUL connectivity issues. I can count on    I really want to love this game. I really do. The gameplay is incredibly solid, the characters are very unique and surprisingly well-balanced for the most part, the art style is absolutely gorgeous, and every game feels unique and interesting. There's a lot about this game that's genuinely amazing.

    But it's all dragged down by the game's awful, AWFUL connectivity issues. I can count on one hand the number of times I've played a game online and actually had it finish without the game breaking partway through. And by breaking, I mean that the turn timer just straight-up fails to work, and no one can make any progress whatsoever. I've literally just sat on the same player's turn for a full half hour without anything happening before finally giving up. I'd estimate about 70% of my games ended this way. The idea of seamlessly replacing a disconnected player with an AI seems like a foreign concept to the developers. And unfortunately, it's not just my connection - every single Armello player I've ever encountered on Xbox has encountered the same issue. Even getting a game to start is nightmarish - I've actually had multiple instances of the game just refusing to start despite all 4 players being present and ready. All of this is exacerbated by the total lack of local multiplayer - while this makes some sense due to certain game mechanics (hidden information, players being allowed to act when it's not their turn), it doesn't exactly help when your only other options are playing with predictable AI or attempting to play online only to run into a brick wall.

    Also there's a ton of DLC to the point where more than half the playable characters (and counting) have to be bought separately from the base game.

    I genuinely loved the games I was able to play to completion, and I desperately want to recommend this and give it a 9, but I can't in good conscience pretend these issues aren't there and don't drag down the game to the point of being nigh-unplayable.    … Expand

    Garbage gold game I don't like tactics RPGs either anymore in the 80s n 90s yes but in 2023 it's old genre that should remain buried these indie games are really shert

    The game is a unique free for all strategy game where every player can destroy themselves and take you with them. Mix in some random elements that spice up the strategies that you must employ to win and you have yourself a fun strategy game.

    The game's RNG isn't ruining the experience.
    No you're not suppose to fight anyone without shield equipment and expect to live. Stop blaming your lack of strategy on RNG. I will concede and say that the map generation can be pretty bad sometimes.

    The game shouldn't take an hour. Just hurry up and try to succeed the palace perils when you are strong enough to win. There's a reason that the card that lowers peril difficulty is the most common card in the game. I've been able to win against 3 real opponents in turn 5 which took me about 20 minutes. Games where I'm playing against competent opponents rarely last for longer than 40 minutes. I will say that if there was a way to speed up some of the animations I would do so in a heart beat.

    I promise you that your patience will be rewarded if you stick with this game and don't get discouraged.    … Expand

    This game is amazing. I didn't expect to like it so much, but I really love playing it. To be fair, the story is basically non-existent (there's a prologue which serves as a tutorial and short story) but I don't mind it at all since it's all about the experience of each run. It's addicting working towards earning jewelry that will later enable you to customize your character for your idealThis game is amazing.     Armello is a great board game. You can put an amazing amount of hours into this game seeing there are varying ways you can win a match. However, on a certain moment the board will be full of enemies and what it takes to kill them is a bit annoying sometimes.

    Even with these small complaints, I feel Armello is an amazing game. I have already found several hours of enjoyment as it really has no end. Every time I played it was a new game with a new outcome. Even as I write this review I am excited about jumping in and playing a few more rounds before bed. Armello truly captured the fun of the table-top genre and offered a worthwhile package on Xbox One.
