This game is great amazing! It is a game mainly focused on combat. You can sink a lot of time into this dual stick shooter with a great story. The local multiplayer is really great too.

Imagine if someone took all the best things about bullet hells, top-down Zelda games, and Dark Souls.
Archvale is exactly what it looks like, and it's incredibly satisfying.

Top notch variety in enemies and zones, fantastic bullet patterns, and so many ways to build your character. The crafting is fun, easy to understand, and extremely rewarding. Multiple difficulties and the ability to grind gold & resources (if you want to) makes it very accessible. You get a bit of the story after defeating each temple - it isn't very long but very it's extremely well done. The soundtrack is cute and very fitting for the pixel art.

Extra kudos to this game for the protagonist being gender neutral (they / child / little one / etc). I highly recommend Archvale to anyone who enjoys Wizard of Legend, Nuero Voider, Hammerwatch, Geometry Wars, older Zelda games, etc.

This game has great potential, it's music and art style is great, but it's too shallow and flawed for it's own good. I got into this game with the mindset that it's just another "Enter The Gungeon" wannabe. And I was wrong. But there are a couple kinks, like if you want to change the difficulty of the game or play local co-op instead of solo (or the other way around). You have to make an ENTIRELY new save slot just to do so. So no changing difficulty on the fly or any of that. But the main thing that got me to put down the game are the difficulty spikes. Not even half-way through the game you are hit with a massive road-block with enemies swarming you like flies and killing you in like 2 hits, and I'm playing on Normal mode mind you, or maybe I'm just bad at the game. Also the puzzle's are pretty lame. I appreciate that this game has Local Co-Op, but it's only Locally. So if you want to play this game with someone online, you can't, unless you use an application like Parsec or Steam remote play together. I am not saying that this game is bad, but it's just slightly flawed. If you are a sucker for bullet hells or you just want a game you want to play with a buddy (IRL), this is the game for you. But personally, this game isn't for me. Expand

I often play games and get bored of them within a few hours but Archvale had me hooked. Great game at first , until you reach their sorry excuse for a “puzzle” which is mostly dashing over pits . I’ve only died twice in combat yet there “puzzle” has killed me more times then anything . Things like this literally ruined my experience of the game

Apart from the odd minor issue, Archvale has been a pleasure. There’s some real joy in exploring, in meeting and shooting new and strange creatures, and in enjoying the cute and cuddly visual style - even as the same boss stomps you multiple times. If you like bullet hell games, Archvale should certainly be on your radar.
