Rehash of previous games, little new content, and lack of modes from previous games. The roster is at least impressive and the promise of DLC could greatly enhance the game in the future. But for now there's little reason to bother with this if you've played any of the previous games lately.

An improvement over 2008 but also keeps the positive aspects from the last game. Character models look a little better while the controls still sort of suck, It's still a fun, fast paced game but it's only worth playing if you can't afford WWE 12, achievment whoring or just for the nostaligia of wrestlers that have left the company (Jeff Hardy, Tommy Dreamer).

this game is the same as last year if not worse. little improvement have been made. The addition of the inferno match has not added fun to the game. Road to wrestlemania is awful, career mode for the CAWS gets old quick. the only thing redeeming about this game is the create a finisher.

Much more enjoyable than '08. I've grown to like the SvR series after so many of the earlier efforts in the lineup left me with a bad taste, this is possibly the best so far.

I have three gripes, probably amongst the most common I'm sure. 1. Pre-selected wrestlers only for Road to Wrestlemania, you can't use your own and you can't select from anyone

    1. Pre-selected wrestlers only for Road to Wrestlemania, you can't use your own and you can't select from anyone outside the pre-selected few options they give you.

    2. I understand letters and numbers not allowed for online play (people write offensive stuff on their characters), but none of the other stuff either? Why even have any of the designs at all then? When is this going to be fixed?

    3. I'm very appreciative for the Finisher mode, but it's all slams. Perhaps in the next offering the can allow a wider variety. Take your slams off the top rope, or create a new diving move...anything to beef up this mode from just grabbing a guy and slamming him to the ground.

Tag team finally plays like it should and Road to Wrestle Mania gives you 5 short story modes. The Career Mode is tedious and the achievements range from tedious to really easy.

While it isn't a game that you should rush out and buy, it is still fun, and considering you can get it for cheap it is worth it if you pick it up for cheap.

Quite possibly the worst WWE game ever. Combat sucks, RTWM is garbage and the game is very barebones in game modes.

To all the SmackDown haters out there: If you're going to jump back in the ring, this is the year to do it. Both of these exciting new additions, along with the aforementioned improvements -- and the upcoming downloadable content -- make SVR09 this year's grapple-game champ.
  2. The fighting mechanics have been enhanced and edited to the point that any room for improvement is nearly all in the extras (and if TNA iMPACT! has anything to say, in the animations and the clipping). WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2009 is the strongest next-gen title in the franchise, no questions asked.
  3. SDvR09 is better than last year's effort, no question, and it's a better game than TNA Impact! on account of it being yet another iteration of a tried and trusted game engine and packed full to bursting with features old and new. So yes, on the whole it has met the challenge.
