    This game is graphically beautiful, control system is great, but missions are lacking. There are too many step by step instructions throughout the game, and not enough free flight time to attack as you wish. It is a weak rip-off of the Ace Combat series. Also, this game requires you to play it over and over again to unlock basic weapons packages for aircraft. Most of the extra weapons packages don't unlock until around lvl 39 or 40. If there were cheats to unlock all the weapons packages there might be some replay value...but unfortunately there isn't.     I would certainly have given this game a higher rating if it hadent been so painfully short, literally I finished this game on elite difficulty in under 6 hours, Another problem is that it does what every game with Tom Clancy in the name seems to love to do, involving putting an unrealistically pitiful force to take on an entire army, its fun but at times has needless tediousness.

    not as fun as ace combat 6 that's for sure...especially since this game, I thought I would be getting a sim with extreme scenerios...instead I got a badly tuned arcade game....best for ubi to stick simulations of simulations...and can I get a more interesting scenerio than mexican rebels again and middle east terrorists with 1st world weapons, please....

    Fair to good flight sim- but that's not the point of the game. It is a blast to play, even more fun with online coop, and the multi player dogfights present a challenge that will take some time for me to meet. Very strong replay, and there really isn't anything out there besides the Ace Combat franchise... so, if you are looking for an immersive, beautiful flying combat game, Fair to good flight sim- but that's not the point of the game.     Fun arcade style dog-fighter. Not to be confused with a proper flight sim which I think some other reviewers may have done. Controls are easy and responsive and the missions are entertaining. Dialog and story are ho-hum but at least flow ok.

    A total departure from the rest of the Clancy games in that it focuses on pure arcadey fun instead of realism. That being said, it's still a great flight-action game with enough gorgeous jets to make even Ace Combat 5's massive hangar look like a rural airfield.     I cant put into words how great it is finally,to see a flight game(have to refrain from saying sim),have Story Co-Op(Something that Ace Combat still seemingly cant manage,mores the pity).So thanks & Kudos for that Ubi.Which adds ALOT to the game.Unfortunately,the handling doesnt seem to have any physics what-so-ever.. & theres no feel of gravity or inertia(both important aspects when in aI cant put into words how great it is finally,to see a flight game(have to refrain from saying sim),have Story Co-Op(Something that Ace Combat still seemingly cant manage,mores the pity).So thanks & Kudos for that Ubi.Which adds ALOT to the game.Unfortunately,the handling doesnt seem to have any physics what-so-ever.. & theres no feel of gravity or inertia(both important aspects when in a plane),so the actual handling is nowhere near as good or satisfying as Ace Combat.. Also the Plane models could've used a bit more work,& better moving parts & identification light(like in AC6,to give the planes more life).Also i dont like the fact that you have to leave to **** view to be able to pull off High G manuevers.I have no interest in using this outside view(which doesnt even look forward when you have no-one targeted).You can use High G manuevers in Ace Combat 6 while in-Cokpit view,so why not here? it doesnt make any sense..& gives people that do,the advantage.Also agree with other comments,that it takes far too long to unlock the alternative weapon packs! I've played the campaign through multiple times(on Elite too),& still cant access MOST of the other weapon loadouts!.. I doubt hardly anyone has,& is unable to play this game to its full potential as a result.Not good.. But overall,despite those flaws,i give this an 8,for the reasons that it is fun to play,there arnt enough games of this type around,& the Campaign Co-Op redeems it to a degree.… Expand

    I've only played the demo(i can't afford it right now), but it was possibly the best game i had ever played. sure,the ground graphics sucked, but the planes looked great. i see how it could get repetitive, but it's so fun i could just play the same level and it would still be fun!

    I had to give this game a ten because no one else seems to see it's potential. They implemented the new third person angled combat view that takes dogfights and dodging missles to a new level. As well, the RPG factor in how much you can earn and unlock as you go is really motivating. Ace combat 6 is its only competition and its sluggish game-play doesn't hold up against the smooth, fast-paced, technical combat that is HAWX. The graphics are great and there are over 50 planes to choose from. Some people say its repetitive but, what more do you want? Aliens to come out the sky? It takes air combat simulation to the max and at a point there really isn't anywhere else to go. It's as realistic as is can be, besides the insane amounts of ammo you have. Hopefully they will keep adding more planes and weapon kits on XBOX Live. Overall it is a great adrenaline pumping ride and the online play really sews this up to be the best flight combat simulator out.… Expand

    I thought this game was boring and bland. It accomplishes nothing that every other jet fighting game already has. Unoriginal, not entertaining game. I wouldn't recommend it to the average gamer.

    Fun but short lived game. Interesting controls/camera during dogfights but limited single-player and multi-player content. If you really love jets you might enjoy purchasing but otherwise a rental is enough to experience the game.

    Hands down the best consol flight sim I've played. The graphics aren't as good as ace combat 6 but the gameplay blows it away. The story is good and the missions are just as fun when they are re-played. Aircraft choices and different weapon packs as well as coop-story provide hours of entetainment.

    If you are not looking for a true flight sim then this is probably the came for you. Visually stunning in parts combined with voice commands make this a fun flight game if that is your style. The multiplayer is very lacking however and thus brings the rating to a 6/6.5 tops.

    Played this game, it's pure awesomeness. Not simulation, not arcade, but a blend bent on fun and accesibility, giving you control of how you want to play it, bymeans of ERS and assistance on/off. The visuals are tight, sound...sounds very good. An enjoyable experience.

    This game is so boring!!! The maps are terrible, the story is terrible, it's soooooo boring ! It's just too tempting to dip your jet and slam it into one of the sh**ty flat buildings!!!

HAWX is designed for a specific market segment: frustrated pilots who will only ever fly warbirds on a screen, but know their details and want as much control as possible. HAWX delivers on that promise...maybe a little tooNow available from the bargain bin, HAWX is one of those "games of yesteryear" that definitely merits your attention -- provided you're a big fan of combat flight sims. HAWX is designed for a specific market segment: frustrated pilots who will only ever fly warbirds on a screen, but know their details and want as much control as possible. HAWX delivers on that promise...maybe a little too much so. But let's start out with the positives: the missions are varied and interesting, challenge your abilities in multiple ways, and draw you through all of them with an interesting plot line. The added benefit of voice commands to the AI, while limited, is useful and engaging (plus frees up your fingers, which is very important in this game). Some missions will become your favorites, others not, which is cool because you can revisit any mission once you've completed it, yet still earn credit for completing it again. Some of the graphics, particularly anything that's not a target, look a little weak (ground textures are not high-res), but who cares? The planes and vehicles look great, and that's all you're really going to care about anyway. Now...the downsides. One, you need to be an octopus to play this game well. This is one of those games that makes you second-finger the triggers because you will need the bumper buttons all the time; they're your rudder controls. Sure, you can get by without, but not nearly as well. Difficulty seesaws all over the place: you will go from simple-and-easy missions to ridiculously difficult in one jump. Saves are done by checkpoint and mission completion, but are fairly widely spaced, so failure at some point will result in some backtracking and redoing. Finally, though, this is a short game. There's some replay value, particularly because you will continue earning new equipment, but the campaign is a short one. But, given its price at nearly four years old, it's well worth it.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was great. Selecting your own and earning planes was genius, yet again Tom Clancy makes and amazing game. If they would have added something that's 100% air craft battle WITHOUT and escort mission. But I have a hard time thinking that they could beat it, and the reverse of your sides, and how you battle artemies and assassinate their leader, that was awesome.… Expand

    Hawx is very slick, very polished, and can get your blood racing for bursts of time, but the experience is a very short one, and the replaying of the missions does not feel very rewarding after you beat it once. Assist mode off is cool, but takes a fair amount of practice to be able to use effectively, especially in missions when you are providing support against ground forces.     I’m sick of seeing how bad this games reviews are. Is it perfect? No. Is it bad? Of course not. But oh my god. Why can’t anyone just give this game a positive review? “Oh, I don’t like flight games” then why play it? This game is good, but of course you won’t like it if you don’t like flight games.     The mission design is lacking, the combat is unimaginative, and the multiplayer is shallow. Still, there are plenty who will be able to enjoy soaring 40,000 feet above the earth destroying dozens of enemy planes. All the while belting out lines of Danger Zone. That’s not weird, is it?
