    A superb debut for the Xbox 360, but its marred by glitches that happen every now and then during the action stages. These range from cheap deaths, to slips and falls when you least expect them, and some stages propel you forwards, with very little control, and you are bound to get hit or thrown off course by something. The graphics are gorgeous, no matter what the stage, no matter who you play as or who you encounter; they have been souped up a lot since the Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes days. The music is also a key highlight, as most 3d Sonic games go, but this time, it is more endearing, and worthy of any Sonic-fan music playlist (you can tell a lot of effort has been put into its composition, matching each stage or gameplay strategy perfectly). The storyline is actually quite good, compared the the mess they made of Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes. The cut scenes are very well done, and this time round you really wanna pick up Tails and cuddle him! The other awesome thing is you get to play as three different hedgehogs, with varied gameplay elements; Sonic with his speed-infused gameplay, Shadow with his more aggressive and vehicle-based methodology, and newcomer Silver with his telepathic-based approach.. Each guy has his own story line, which encompasses the story of the other two. All in all a good game which would have been an A1 masterpiece if only the glitches were ironed out and eliminated and the player had more control over the...well controls!… Expand

The controls are very slippery and unresponsive, and the camera is very wonky and glitchy. Sometimes you fall through the floor, or get stuck in a wall, or die for no reason. It’s not fun at all. It makes me want to scream and kick the TV.

    Story
    The story of Sonic 2006 is very complicated and boring. It’s about Sonic trying to save a princess named Elise from a bad guy named Eggman. But then there’s also a bad guy named Mephiles who wants to destroy the world with a monster named Iblis. And then there’s also a good guy named Silver who thinks Sonic is the bad guy and tries to kill him. And then there’s also a lot of time travel and alternate dimensions and stuff. It’s very hard to follow and it doesn’t make any sense. It makes me want to sleep and snore.

    Graphics
    The graphics of Sonic 2006 are very pretty and shiny. The characters look very realistic and detailed, especially their fur and their eyes. The environments look very colorful and diverse, especially the water and the sky. The cutscenes look very cinematic and dramatic, especially the explosions and the fire. The graphics are the only good thing about this game. They make me want to stare and drool.

    Sound
    The sound of Sonic 2006 is very loud and annoying. The music is very cheesy and repetitive, especially the theme song “His World”. The sound effects are very harsh and unrealistic, especially the gunshots and the crashes. The voice acting is very corny and cringy, especially Sonic’s voice and Elise’s voice. The sound is very bad for my ears. It makes me want to mute and cover.

    Overall
    Overall, Sonic 2006 is a very bad game that I don’t recommend to anyone. It’s not fun, it’s not interesting, it’s not enjoyable. It’s a waste of time and money. It makes me sad and angry. I give it one star out of five.

    The game sucks because of the bugs, sure, but it's fun. It has great level design, music, and could very well have been the SA3 that everybody wanted. Alas, it was not to be...until Project-06 made every single level in this game awesome. Apparently all this game needed was better-controlling characters, a brilliant scoring system, and a lot of bug-fixes to be amazing. Huh

    I passionately love this game! Even if it has a lot of bugs, framerate problems and some weird decisions.

    But even with that, this game amuses me a lot. The story even if it has some plot holes. It's very serious and very good. I love character characterization, I love Mephiles, I love Silver, and I love level design. You can not deny that Sonic 06 although it's a glitch mess, you can    I passionately love this game!     To be honest this game was meant to be a masterpiece. I understand the development hell they most have gone through. But overall,it's great if u don't focus too much on glitches. Having to play as sonic, shadow and silver with there own unique move set. It's fantastic.

    Missed opportunity by SEGA to make an adventure like title. I loved a lot of the stages in this game and the themes and the exploration, but omg the glitches and loading screens are generationally bad. Not to mention the cringe and convoluted story line. I see what they were trying to do, but it was poorly executed.

It's a shame this game turned out the way that it did, because i think it would have been a good game if finished. If you played the Sonic fan game, Project 06, it shows that Sonic 06 isn't a fundamentally broken game. And if a game can be still seen potential in just the design itself, I don't think the game should be anywhere near other games like Busby 3D or Superman 64. So yeah, not a good game by any means, but just a disappointing game due to the unfinished state it came out in.… Expand

    Is it me or am I the only one that actually loved the game I never had any problems with it the loading time was never an issue and when u play it was pure fun for me I don't care what people say it's one of my favorites

    I actually think this game is really good maybe because I did not encounter a single game breaking glitch but I think it was enjoyable sonic and shadow could do to be a bit faster though but the is story is one the best minus the scene I’m sure you know which one I’m talking about

    Easily the best game ever made, I really don't understand how this doesn't have a user and critic score of 100. This game is completely bug free, and gaming has undoubtedly gone down from this absolute champion of gaming. Sonic's transformation into super sonic is easily the most dramatic scene ever, and I don't have the words to give it the amount of praise I want to. On top this, theEasily the best game ever made, I really don't understand how this doesn't have a user and critic score of 100.     An overhated and underrated gem of a game. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 was released as part of Sonic's 20th anniversary. The game released in a very unfinished state which is definitely one of the key factors as to why people dislike this game so much but to me, that's part of the fun. The game itself has a terrible story but you can easily look past that. Despite it's flaws, Sonic 2006 stillAn overhated and underrated gem of a game. Mechanically, the game is lacking - all the characters move at frustratingly slow speeds, and will occasionally fly off in random directions due to the game's lack of mechanical polish.     this game is so **** amazing, the one thing i wish they added was the ability to have sex with the characters in the game that would make the game 1000x better than it already is. but jerking off to sonic will have to substitute for the lack of a sex feature

    This game is overhated. What I would defend is the story and some likable characters and HANDS DOWN, THE BEST SOUNDTRACK! But what I do agree about why this game is bad, Goddamn Buggy ass gameplay and long loading times!

    My favourite sonic game. It gets a bad rap due to it's technical imperfections, but looking past those - the story, level design, characters, pacing and creativity in this game still make me love it. And I even have fun using the bugs to my advantage.

Its not the worst in the series (Not even it he top 10) but I liked it.

    Well... is bad, yes, is bad but, not the worst thing ever made, stil playable, the CGI cutscenes is beautifull, the ost is amazing, Silver and Shadow's Story is very good.
    I know this game is bad but i liked, not recomended for everyone, but he deserves a little second chance.

    Being the last Sonic Game to use the Adventure Formula, it has had a lot riding on the success or failure of this title. This main line game was the last one that have multiple playable characters besides Sonic, Sonic, and your OC. While I did encounter a great handful of glitches, none of them broke my immersion into the story. Story wasn't bad and could have definitely been much muchBeing the last Sonic Game to use the Adventure Formula, it has had a lot riding on the success or failure of this title. This main line game was the last one that have multiple playable characters besides Sonic, Sonic, and your OC. While I did encounter a great handful of glitches, none of them broke my immersion into the story. Story wasn't bad and could have definitely been much much worse, but the characters were the best they've ever been. Unfortunately, the only thing in this game that keeps it from being a 10 is the fact that Elise, isn't designed like Sonic and his friends. If she were more cartoon-ish, instead of being more realistic, there wouldn't be as big an issue.… Expand

Honestly, that's accurately what it turned out to be worth. It's a novelty that has some sparkling moments of the ambition put into it, butAfter 16 years of nothing but hearsay, and finally acquiring a used XBOX 360, I admitted to myself that my curiosity about actually trying to play this particularly infamous Sonic entry had reached a breaking point, and I bought it digitally for $5. Honestly, that's accurately what it turned out to be worth. It's a novelty that has some sparkling moments of the ambition put into it, but too much of the execution, whether it's game physics not feeling natural, levels going on too long, hub world design being too bland, writing too unenjoyable, or even just the premise not matching the Sonic brand, can be quite laughable... but sometimes, we need something like that, and I may still come back to it now and then to beat my scores, so at least it's that and not outright depressing.… Expand

    There are many horrible things to say about this game but for me the worst thing what's the loading times take constant loading times that appear and ruined the pacing and it doesn't help that every time you talk to a person to get a quest there a loading time. Just to get the text box to get the quest and I am losing my mind this is bad. This is unforgivable bad

    Very fun game with an almost perfect story. Does contain glitches and long loads but that doesn't take away the fun and the glitches are easily avoidable most of the time. Good structure and pacing as well.

    This game can be frustrating if you dont know what you are doing but this game has a good amount of challenge the music is a banger and there is a good story which is a rarity in the current sonic games if you havent played the game you should definitely give it a try

    Despite the game's many, many MANY flaws... Especially the unforgiving story in general, I love the game. I used to hate it but no.. I like it now. I played alot of Sonic games and Adventure 1 is my favorite and what I believe what Sonic formula SHOULD be instead of tired 2D sections we've been getting for the last 16 years since this game's release and I find it really unfortunate becauseDespite the game's many, many MANY flaws...     What I love about the game:

    +Perfect voice actors. Maybe because I love and have great memories of Sonic X this is the Sonic game feels right with the right VA for me.
    +It is very challenging. I used to hate the gameplay for obvious reasons especially the mach speed sections but after beating them I felt very rewarding!
    +Game still looks beautiful, aside from the anthropomorphic characters they look really weird. But the graphics from 2006? Ahead of its time.
    +Huge cast of characters, so much risk taken and they serve great except for Elise everyone despises here and I'm happy for that. I really like Silver though!
    +Level design and replayability

    What I hate about the game:

    -I mean, the obvious
    -The story. And the plot holes is whatever I didn't notice it too much but the story sucks. Soleanna and the game focuses on Elise. I felt like this weird romance with her and Sonic is wrong on so many levels, and one of them being completely and utterly is STRAIGHT UP character assassination for my boy. What I'm talking about? Sonic rescuing a princess and have romantic plot... this is literally what Sonic was supposed to represent, just look at the early Sonic concepts and one of them concept bios that the hedgehog has a human girlfriend but was scrapped, and if you noticed by now, Sonic tries to get away from Amy almost all the time and do you know why? Because Sonic was supposed to be the opposite of Mario.
    -I feel like the idea for anthromorphic characters transforming into the real world with real humans and gritty style feels out of place and inconsistent.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay, honest review time. First, the good:

    1) The storyline is actually decent. It's no more convoluted than some of the movies I've seen that people actually think are good. Yes, it's complicated, but that's what I like about it. The closest I've come to a plothole involves Blaze. For some reason, she's in the future and friends with Silver. That in itself would be fine if they didn't also try to imply that she knew Sonic from her previous adventure in Sonic Rush, which makes one wonder whether she's from a different dimension or from the future. I will also say that Elise's crush on Sonic made me very uncomfortable.

    2) The gameplay is nice. Sonic and Shadow are fast, like you'd expect, but Silver's gameplay adds a little variety with his psychokinesis. Tails and Rouge attack in bizarre ways that, honestly, make me glad I didn't have to use them much. Omega and Blaze control fine. Amy, for some reason, can turn invisible, which is kind of cool. There are some scripted areas, especially in Sonic's level's, that will kill you if you don't hit them exactly right, but you can avoid that if you know where those spots are. I even enjoyed Sonic's super-speed sections, even though one of them has a ramp that you have to hit exactly right if you don't want to die.

    3) The soundtrack is amazing, as I've come to expect from Sonic games. It's one of the few things that even those who hate the game like about it.

    4) Between levels, you explore Soleanna in an open-world situation, like Sonic Adventure. It's nice to see the town, and there are little side missions you can complete as well.

    Now the bad:

    1) Glitches. As I said earlier, there are some scripted areas that will kill you if you don't hit them at the right angle. There's also the fact that Knuckles and Rouge can get stuck on the walls when climbing, which forces you to climb around on the wall and mash the button, trying to find that sweet spot that will release you. Overall, though, I even tried to recreate some of the glitches people say they have experienced (usually on the PS3), and I haven't been able to. My best guess is that the 360 version is a little less buggy. However, the glitches will eventually reveal themselves in the right context.

    2) Long loading times. Every single loading screen takes forever, and there are a lot of them. My sister calls this a plus, saying it gives her a break after a particularly intense level, but I'd rather be able to get on with the game.

    I get why people don't like this game, but it could be worse. Given more time to actually finish it, Sega could have made a truly amazing game out of this. Overall, I enjoyed it, and I do still break it out to play every now and again.    … Expand

    Let me explain why.
    That was the first Sonic game I played if I put the demos aside, and don't even think that's why I don't think it's horrible like so many others.
    There are several aspects that I really liked according to my experience, these being:

    -The soundtrack is simply something that gives me the creeps. It's epic and has some great harmonies, especially the main theme. Elise's theme is beautiful and overwhelming, as much as the character like that has a large group of haters, we have to admit that the theme is brilliantly well done. Honestly, in my opinion, Sonic Unleash and Sonic 2006 are those games that have the best soundtracks in the entire franchise.

    -The episodes of Shadow and Silver have a story of excellence. Everything that goes on during those two chapters made me so caught up on the screen when I played that I can't even describe it with words. When the scene took place where Blaze put herself in Silver's place, sacrificing herself to ensure a safe future, that was something that really took my toll.

    -Mephiles is a creative villain who is one of my favorite characters in the franchise. I liked the idea they came up with for it, I liked how it connected with Elise's past, as well as with Shadow. I liked the Boss Battle against him in the Shadow Episode, it was one that I really enjoyed the most, compared to the others.

    -It's a game with an acceptable duration. Yes, I know the loads last two hours, but do you know what that period of time also lasts? Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces. What I mean by this is that I personally prefer to play a long game than something I can finish in a single afternoon, like Sonic Generations. Taking days to complete a game is what makes it more fun, not something that ends right away.

    -I had fun with the bugs, to be honest. For the most part, Sonic fans would get annoyed with every bug that popped up or when the game just crashed. But I always had big laughs about it. The bugs made the game more unique and fun for me, something different. It sounds like I'm saying absurd things, but it's the truth, I really had fun.

    That was my opinion, of course, it has all those negative aspects, like the desynchronization of the characters' voices in the cutscenes, the delay in loadings, and the way Elise became an annoying and obnoxious princess (How is it possible for a person to be kidnapped right after being rescued?!), but despite all that, I really enjoyed the game :).    … Expand

The loading times are longer than Karen takes moaning at the manager. Also, WHY THE F**K DOES A HUMAN PRINCESS HAVE ROMANCE WITH A BLUE HEDGEHOG! And, later on, when Sonic (temporarily) dies, she kisses him. KISSING A DEAD ANIMAL. WHAT THE TRUCK! The glitches are worse than Cyberpunk 2077, which doesn't help either. This game is literally released as an alpha build. I feel this may have been a passable game if it hadn't been rushed out for Sonic's 15th birthday. But wow. What a terrible anniversary it was; Sonic Riders on Gamecube, Sonic '06 on X360 and PS3 and Sonic 1 on GBA. Poor Sonic.… Expand

My mom bought me & my brother an Xbox 360 just so we can start our hobbies of game collecting. My brother Christian got Spider-Man 3 and he enjoyed the hell out of it, while I bought of the worst games ever made. I played Sonic 06 for an hour and II bought Sonic 06 just to make more memories as a kid but when I played it, it was one of the worst video games I ever played in my life. My mom bought me & my brother an Xbox 360 just so we can start our hobbies of game collecting. My brother Christian got Spider-Man 3 and he enjoyed the hell out of it, while I bought of the worst games ever made. I played Sonic 06 for an hour and I couldn't stop seeing bugs and glitches all over the game where I refused to play Single Player. Then, one day me and Christian played Sonic 06's multiplayer where it was completely unfair no matter how times he won or I won.

    I recently watched a longplay of this game & this is what I saw after watching it...
    1. The Camera Angles were awful
    2. The graphics were awful
    3. I saw the same glitches back then when I played it
    4. The Controls were weird
    5. Loading Screens that took an eternity...
    6. The Story was incredibly creepy with the Blue Speedster falling in love with a Human Girl

    Sonic the Hedgehog isn't the best gem Sega has provided to the fans from the franchise,and it isn't the worst. As terrible as the animation gets, the badness of this game actually makes this game more fun to play, and, no this game does not support bestiality. Of all of the Sonic games released, this is definitely one of the better ones (which says something about the franchise itself).

    Con: The play control has the complete opposite problem from Shadow: everyone is way too slow, it feels like molasses. And unlike Sonic Adventure 1, 2 & Heroes, your top speed will never be effected by events in the level. Running down a road, a loop, walls all have the same speed.

    Pro: OH MY GOD, THIS SOUNDRACK IS INCREDIBLE, I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!!! It has such a sophisticated edge to so much of the music, and listening to them give off a vibe you can only get from actually hearing them. The vocal tracks are also amazing.
    Con: The sound effects are pretty stock and don't hold that much weight or catharsis behind them.

    Pro: The developers had clear passion and wanted to make the best Sonic game ever but fell short because of staff cuts, multiple games going on at once, and severe rushing.
    Con: The game has a huge lack of polish. Loading screens are incredibly frequent, there are so many glitches, and there are plenty of minor things you can notice, such as the facial animation being the same across all regions.

    Despite how broken and unfinished this game undeniably is, I still like it. I still find value in Silver, and especially Shadow's campaign. There is still plenty of great in the story (despite the lows,) the design is enjoyable and the music is great. I see real passion. I don't see a game so bad you can laugh at it, I don't see a trainwreck with incompetent people behind it, I see a tragedy. If Sonic Team learned the right lesson, and didn't get rid of everything from 06, we would have a very different series. The concepts of this game are not bad, it was the execution. Having multiple playable characters, a deep story, open gameplay, attempts to take advantage of advancing consoles. These are all great parts of the Sonic series, but since Colors, we're not allowed to have them because 06 had them. Once an idea fails Sonic Team scraps it without refining it and repeats whatever works verbatim, which is why the Sonic series is so bland nowadays, I hope the 30th year anniversary game changes that, but looking back on 06, I see the risks it takes and how people see it and it depresses me.    … Expand

    The Xbox 360 version is the best way to play the game. PS3 was a poor port, with lag issues and ridiculous load times. Here, load times are a lot better, and there is very little issue with lag.

    The game really isn't as glitchy as the internet would like you to believe. You see video after video of all these glitches, but actually playing it, you realize these videos are nothing more than exaggerations. 90% of the issues are issues you create yourself and are difficult to do. The other 10% are so minor and easy to fix that you could honestly forget they happened.

    PLAY THIS GAME! If you have a strong PC, you can use the Xenia Emulator to play it, and use the mod manager found on Gamebanana.com, if you like modding.    … Expand

    Not only are the voices horrible, as is the case for most Sonic games, but the story makes very little sense. It’s like if you took any basic Nintendo story like Mario saving the Princess, lengthened it to several hours long, and filled it with mindless details that make no logical sense at all.

    Atrocious camera angles lead to cheap deaths, the slippery controls make it difficult to get a handle on the characters and the game has a large problem with pacing. It tries to mix in side missions with general stages, and the disastrous results ruin the game.
