NickD.Oct 19, 2007I like how everyone tries to compare this game to THPG. They are 2 totally separate games and most people suck at Tony Hawk games so Skate is their way out of playing Tony Hawk games. This game is for the people who can't or don't know how to hold a combo on a Tony Hawk game.

BryanMcCannSep 24, 2007I can not stand this game. it is so stupid. to jump you have to go down then up. and it really is not just like skate bording. sorry but tony is way better. and I have not like a tony game since his early ps2 years.

PeterP.Oct 1, 2007The single player mode of this game is absolutely terrible. They force you to do moves on command that you either have to be quite skilled in the game, or just lucky, to accomplish, as well as set arbitrary point requirements for many challenges. It's just frustrating, and not fun, and freeskate/multiplayer aren't quite enough to salvage it.

RJDec 14, 2007Uhh!! How can you people stand this game? It's a good gamebut the view ruins it. Every second when I speed up I get this foot in front of my screen!! Also, you're riding along then all of a sudden you hit this car you don't see! I gave it a 6 because it has a great storyline, good graphics, and lots of realism. The view just ruins the game though.

Jan 22, 2011Repetitive, annoying dross, doesn't compare to the decent TH games by a long way. If you like repeating the same move over and over again until the game decides you've done it enough and lets you move on to the next bit where you repeat some more then you will like this, otherwise avoid.

EdP.Oct 1, 2007Excellent game which provides real value for money. EA must be commended on their efforts for reviving a flagging skateboarding genre.

GastonH.Sep 20, 2007Revolionary tp the genre. Playing THawk next to this feels tired and stilted. The twin sticks work wonders and truly emulate skateboarding in comparison to the farce that other games have made out of skateboarding. On top of that, it looks gorgeous, the city is huge and there is a ton of things to do! EA is focusing on quality rather than on quantity this year it seems!

MattR.Sep 5, 2007This is an awesome game with incredibly good controls. Now there's finally a skateboarding game that actually feels like skateboarding.

JimmyP.Oct 5, 2007An outstanding game which is challenging to master, but not that hard to get the basics. Moving the RS in just the right way to perform the tricks can be a little annoying, but just makes hitting that trick that much sweeter.

RodS.Sep 13, 2007This game is the most realistic depiction of skateboarding out there. Tony Hawk was great for the past several years, but the lack of realism just made it less and less fun to play. Skate's gameplay is not a cartoon version of skating and the gaming public is all the better for it.

J.P.Sep 17, 2007This game is the fire! Huge world that's fun to explore, tons of spots to skate, excellent, innovative control, feels more like actually skateboarding vs. zooming around on a self propelled rocket board and grinding roller coasters and power lines...anyway, go buy it now! Online roxxers and is super addictive too btw.

NoahRSep 18, 2007The environments are beautiful, the sound is great (with some truly amazing songs in the soundtrack) and the controls are nearly perfect. Coming up with new lines is one of the most fun challenges ever, and you will never run out of lines to try out.

AuggieAnnoFeb 27, 2008skate. was the best skateboarding game in a very long time. This game makes Tony Hawk's more recent games look like garbage. I overlooked the glitches and graphics considering the face that it was still the best in a long time. VERY realistic compared to any skating game i have EVER played. This is the best skateboarding title out there.

PedroM.Oct 1, 2007I love the fact that the only people here giving a positive comment on the game don't have a last name and no matter how much they skate in real life, this game is like heaven to them. Odd that. And someone actually respects the EA "guyz". Yeah, nice try Black Box.

BenF.Nov 1, 2007Pedro 'M' u n00b u say no-one who says gud comments shows they're surname but u also hide urs u nub cake. this game is brilliant, and much more realistic than tony haks could ever be. no more pressing one button to jump, grind and then land effortlessly. i bet u haven't even played it more than 5 seconds u n00b

ChrisD.Oct 26, 2007Nick. D you can compare this and TH as they are both in the same genre you noob, as well as this is is five times as hard as TH games will ever be. Because this is now released there is no need to buy Proving Ground, this is the most innovative and realistic skateboarding game to date!

As a brand new IP, based on an idea that could have completely blown up in EA's face, skate is an amazingly complete experience. Those who choose to relax and skate leisurely -- looking for cool lines and taking on the occasional challenge -- will likely find the most enjoyment.
-
Built around utterly convincing physics and animation systems and a unique control scheme that's equal parts challenge and reward, it manages to be realistic without being discouraging and feels completely different from not only the competition, but from anything else out there.
-
These controls feel great, and they really need to since the game isn’t in the slightest bit forgiving. When you go for a grind, you won’t magically be transported onto the rail. You have to line it up and pray that you time your jump and adjoining trick correctly.
