    Overall, Record of Agarest War Zero is a lackluster title that does not bring much to the table for gamers who are not devoted followers of the series.

    The game might result interesting for those who have enjoyed the previous Record of Agarest War. There are some minimal improvements and the combats are still fun. Some players will love its retro aesthetics and that special japanese flavour, but those who don't should flee from the game.

    It's a tough sell for anyone fresh to the strategy experience, but delivers a solid and lengthy campaign for those who know the territory.

    Zero is a solid game by itself but seriously fails to surpass, improve or even match the original. Instead of the endless generations of past, we are left with only two. Which would be a plus if this meant the protagonist and crew were more developed or interesting. Sadly most of the characters are rather stale as is the storyline in general. Much of the gameplay is the same and graphically I can barely tell the difference from the first. This is a good game if the first title leaves you wanting more, but it offers nothing new to the table.… Full Review »

That is why I'm giving it a 7. It is worth a look at but to truly enjoy this game, you have to be a certain kind of gamer. The dialogue scenes are fairly lengthy and contain no actual movement to speak of, just pictures with slight animation. I personally love the art style, a smoother take on the style of Shuffle. If you like anime, you will enjoy the art style as well. Also, it IS a JRPG so if you aren't a fan of the style, this probably isn't for you. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a very Final Fantasy Tactics-like battle system. Similar, not the same. These two styles (anime and Turn-based Strategy) tend to have a pretty narrow fan base and that is why I rated it lower, in the essence of a rating for the overall public. I love this game, and it has earned a spot in my top 5 and a definite 10.… Full Review »
