Official Xbox MagazineSomewhat unresponsive, sluggish controls. [Nov 2009, p.78]
-
While this is a spiritual sequel to Bubble Bobble, Rainbow Islands is a little less memorable and a little less charming. It's still a good time but it doesn't have the fan base that its prequel has and this XBLA release won't change that fact.
-
An "update" of a classic that's only barely fun, and even then only for a little while. Stick with the original to get your rainbow-jumping jollies.
-
The graphics and soundtrack are very good, meeting the target audience perfectly.
-
Towering Adventure comes close to reinvigorating the Rainbow Islands formula, but this platformer is still tough to recommend.
-
A fun and slightly addictive arcade title but with little in the way of an update from the original there are far better arcade games waiting for you at the 800 MS price point.
