Fans of the series, adventure games or comedies will likely feel right at home with Monkey Island 2 SE. Even if it's not your typical taste, if you were ever curious about this style of game, it would certainly be a great place to start.
-
You really have to either hate point and click games with the burning passion of a thousand suns or not like dealing with downloadable games to dislike this title.
-
Fun, cheap and it'll last you hours, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition is worth the outlay.
-
This Special Edition XBLA release features stunning graphics, improved controls and brand new voice actors. Unfortunately it didn't fix some of the game's faults. But even with its imperfections, LeChuck's Revenge is an adventure worth going on!
-
Simply put, Monkey Island 2 is one of the industry's most widely regarded titles, one that stood at the top of it's genre for years to come, and now looks set to do so for many more to follow. It's place in any self-respecting gamers' library is vital, and without doubt, incredibly as well deserved now as it ever was.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKSimply a must-have puzzle game. [Sept 2010, p.101]
-
The base experience of Monkey Island 2 is still as sharp as ever, though, with some of the wittiest dialogue and intelligent puzzles ever seen in an adventure game. It's just a shame the "special edition" part is a bit of a letdown - it's more of an average 2-disc edition than a deluxe Criterion version.
-
It is not in the new interpretation that this package fails to deliver, but in its presentation of a classic that demands a lot more respect and attention to detail than Special Edition delivers.
-
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is a great addition to your downloadable library. Whether you're an old adventure gamer looking to scratch a nostalgic itch or a shellshocked shooter fan looking for a whimsical break from the fray, this game's meager entry fee is well worth it.
-
Classic gameplay and vibrant new visuals mix with timeless humor and inventive puzzles in this revamped blast from the past.
-
LeChuck's Revenge is one of those rare games that we can truly feel privileged to experience, and this mostly faithful recreation is a necessity for aficionado and newcomer alike.
-
Fans will appreciate the colorful commentary from the franchise creators and unlockable art gallery, while those intimidated by the adventure games of the past will find comfort in the simplified controls, object highlighting and hint system.
-
Make time for LeChuck's Revenge because, even after nearly 20 years, it's still funnier, more clever, and well-written than the vast majority of "blockbusters" lining the digital shelves.
-
Monkey Island 2: Special Edition brings HD life to probably the best adventure game ever. Nice graphics, great artistic choices and a revamped control system for an unavoidable title for every adventure fan.
-
The second Monkey Island remake hasn't got the same amount of love as the first one did and have a few quirks. But nonetheless. It's still adventure gaming at it's finest and recommended regardless of whether you've played it before or not.
-
But with extras like an included director's commentary featuring the creators of the game discussing its crafting, inspirations, and history, Monkey Island 2 is still a satisfying experience for players new to the game and for nostalgiaic fans revisiting this game today.
-
Aside from some finicky movements, Monkey Island 2: Special Edition is another outstanding remake of a true adventure game classic.
-
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition 2: LeChuck's Revenge' is a great update to a classic.
-
The entire package does a fantastic job of delivering all the fun, brain-teasing puzzles and hilarity for which the series is known.
-
Even with the glitches, I absolutely loved my time with Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck's Revenge. It's so good that I can't believe I missed out on it the first time around, but I'm glad that I got a second chance thanks to this reimagining.
-
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is everything fans of the series would expect from a high-definition remake.
-
Perfect for quick sessions or marathoning through, MI2:SE packs a lot into its package.
-
It's just as funny and entertaining as its older self, if not more, with new music, awesome voice-acting, and great bonus features.
-
Regardless, Monkey Island 2 has aged gracefully, and the graphical facelift and extra goodies help sweeten the deal for diehard fans and newbies alike.
-
For those fans, it's a blast from the past chock full of nostalgia and other fuzzy feelings. Unfortunately, new players with an ever-growing backlog of games that are begging to be experienced simply won't have the time to enjoy Monkey Island 2.
-
It's kind of sad knowing that game characters haven't really evolved much in that time, and that the Monkey Island franchise is still able to capture my attention without any of the glitz and glam of 3D graphics, 5.1 surround sound, and gigabytes worth of information. I guess that's just a testament to how well this game was made.
-
Official Xbox MagazineMinor control quirks and some tricky puzzles aside, Monkey 2's rare combo of comedy, brain-teasing, and all-ages appeal will have you ready to buy all the fine leather jackets it's selling. [Oct 2010, p.75]
-
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is a game to be played for the nostalgia factor, and for those who never played it the first time. I'd also throw in die-hard fans of the series, but people new to the franchise will be left scratching their heads unable to grasp what the big whoop was in the first place.
-
Amarcord operations like this one should be enforced by law: a masterpiece of videogame history is proposed again with new graphics and a new style. All has remained as we remembered, with its ironic strength and its perfection. Simply a myth.
