Mass Effect 2 is home to probably the best mission in all of video games. One that takes the context of your entire journey and lays out your decisions right in front of you. For that alone, it's worth playing, not even mentioning it's other successes.

Perfect! One of a very few games that deserves a 10, but Shep and crew in Mass 2 well deserves it. Mass Effect 2 take a huge leap from 1 and this is the space RPG of a lifetime. Bioware were at their best with Mass 2. Definitely one of my favorite games ever!

The game is all built around reaching the end point of the game, and while, at almost any point, you can go to the end of the game you are HEAVILY encouraged to do the various quests around the galaxy, as based on the decisions you choose and make your ending of the game will vary massively. I love the concept of building up to one final point and having almost every decision you've made up to it come into play. The characters and companions throughout this game are definitely the best part about it but just the sheer amount of fun this game provides earns its status as one of the best games to ever be made, in my opinion. One of the most, if not the most inmersive games of all time, the history that this trilogy of games provides to the players is as good as the best Tv series of all time, every decision you make counts and when you reach to the final part of the game, you are going to think over and over what you are going to decide because you love the characters of the game and you take it seriously. One of the most, if not the most inmersive games of all time, the history that this trilogy of games provides to the players is as good as the best Tv series of all time, every decision you make counts and when you reach to the final part of the game, you are going to think over and over what you are going to decide because you love the characters of the game and you take it seriously.
The main quest are awesome, but the secondary quests which i recommend doing, are also awesome, you know that you do them with a purpouse and that they matter to the game.
I cannot say more things of this game because you have tou play it to see how Bioware can create masterpieces like this.

The best mass effect game and it’s not even close. It’s hard for a story to really grip me and have me hooked the whole time but this one did. The characters were all spectacular and the excellent writing made me care about them all so much. This is a must play.

It's sad that they removed the elevators and replaced them with generic boring loading screens. Also, I thought that going from "RPG" to "RPG-lite" really hurt the gameplay for me. I liked having more options for armor, weapons, skills, etc. The whole skill/item system felt really really dumbed down compared to the amount of choices and customization we had in Mass Effect 1. No loot=boring. Upgrades didn't really cut it. Also, the story suffers from "middle of the trilogy" syndrome. There's no clearcut single villain, there's too many last second revelations, too many new characters. This is no "Empire Strikes Back" or "Godfather 2". Saren and Sovereign were far more compelling than the Collectors. Still a great game, but inferior to Mass Effect 1 in gameplay AND story. Expand

Man.. It's really irritating to see people compare this game to other Third Person Shooters. This game is a SHOOTER RPG, not a SHOOTER. As much as I loved how much customization there was, it was just too much to do. That game was 80% customization and 20% gameplay in my opinion. ME2 did a great job at keeping the story engaging, while the cover system, and combat were a bit itchy, I still give this game a 10 for good story, GREAT character builds, and an engaging experience. Mass Effect 2 is a great game with some steps forward from the first but a couple of steps in the opposite direction. The voice acting, story, and graphics remain the same great thing as ever with some slight variations. The combat is one area where Bioware took a step forward. The fights feel soother and the powers are more accessible to use and are generally stronger. The fights feel soother and the powers are more accessible to use and are generally stronger. The leveling system is pretty good. The experience gaining system on the other hand, is horrible. Instead of gaining exp from every individual enemy that you brutally murder, you only gain a net value at the end of every mission. This is extremely strange, in my opinion, because Bioware really focused on combat in this entry. Another thing that got on my nerves was how Bioware removed much of the role playing elements. There is hardly any equipping of items and the few you do find are minor visual variations and slightly different weapon damage. In its place is a rather empty upgrading system that really doesn't make the player that much more powerful. Bioware also made it necessary to gain paragon and renegade to upgrade your charm/intimidate skill. This makes it hard to chose the neutral path as you are losing and option to access bonuses and generally make the game more fun. But besides those annoying quips, Bioware still developed a great tittle that feels more like a shooter with some flimsy RPG elements than a true action RPG. Expand

For people that liked Mass Effect 1 and wanted the second to be the same will be disappointed. The change made the game less repetitive in this reviews eyes. One can still go around, plot, and deplete every planet for valuable resources while running into a mission. If you were to do everything in the game, your playtime would range from 30-35 hours. Its a game that is worth multiple paythroughs, new and old characters and will be in to help shepherd fight the good fight. Mass Effect 2 overcomes its few gameplay weaknesses with a fantastic weave of dynamic combat, lavish presentation, and engaging character and weapon customization.
