This game is sooo much better then most of the reviews state. the average of this games reviews should be no less then I'd say about 85.

Reviews who reviewed this low just don't want to say the Kinect can offer awesome games. But, it can, and no you can't be a lazy person and play this game. You actually have to get up off you butt and get active. You will lose weight playing this

If you don't like a bit of getting off your feet or having fun with your friends and family, then avoid this title. But, if you are planning for the upcoming holidays a get-together with family and wondered what you could do that will make all have a good time (aside from stuffing yourself) then you can't go wrong with Kinect Sports.
I've played it alone, with my family and with friends

I've played it alone, with my family and with friends over. Everyone - and even the skeptics - loved it, and wanted more. If you know Wii Sports (Resort) then this is at least ten times better and more enjoyable. The sports are presented in a very enjoyable way, and there are options to play with others or on Xbox Live. The mini-games are also great fun. This game is definitely a good buy for a fun night with friends and family in order to get sociable, but if you'd rather play Call of Duty: Black Ops online the whole weekend with your friends, then this title may not be your forte.

A surprisingly frustrating experience. Most of the games feel inaccurate and the bowling, the one that I wanted to like the most, just plain sucks. I cannot believe I paid $50 for this trash when the price should have been dropped by now. Beware of this title. Kinect adventures is 10,000 times better and it is FREE.

This game is a blast. A great party game with friends, but just like the Wii not much for a solo game. My biggest complaint is that there is no story mode or adventure mode. So basically this gets a "6" a "10" if it included some kind of objective and the leveling up made some sort of sense. Expand

This title has 6 games and also includes some mini games based off the original six. Gameplay: soccer is limited but outstanding and the motion controls make for some great gameplay. Most of the action just proceeds but you interact at key moments as in real life for the most part. You do not get to sprint but the passing, blocking and direction the game proceeds is based off your coordination, aim and timing. Game is 4 min short and sweet and you should work up half a sweat. Beach volleyball is perhaps the best game, and along with soccer are the best games imo. In volleyball you serve, can block, spike and volley. It's a little confusing cuz the action is decently paced but with a few plays you will likely agree this is a fantastic sim of the sport. This game and soccer alone are worth this disc. Next best I feel is table tennis. Serving is pretty basic but you can do backhands, forehands, spikes and slow lobs and even backspins. Computer isnt all that bad. Next game is Track and field. Here you get to run, do hurdles, javelin, discus, long jump. Each event gives you points based on how you did then totals your points at the end. These first four games I score quite high. The next two games, boxing and bowling I found a little bit disappointed but still pretty decent. Boxing was quite well done with implementation and is as you would expect, throw punches and block. The controls seem fine however when I first played I played beginner. I quite literally destroyed the CPU ai constantly knocking the poor CPU down....but it kept getting up, over and over and each time recovering full health, no fatigue or drain whatsoever. Despite complete dominance it didn't get tko'd until round three. This totally seemed crazy especially in a beginner fight knocking down the CPU at least 6 times seemed way overboard....with what was happening twice to three times would even be crazy. The last game, bowling was decent but seemed to always shoot down the middle if that's where you were standing in front of the kinect sensor it was hard to miss. Further it felt strange throwing the ball with no visual clues where you were really aiming. There are blue guides on the floor as you throw but they didn't seem to match where I was aiming but rather where I was standing in front of the sensor. None the less still playable. Mini games were bowling much as described just shorter and soccer, you can be the goalie. Overall the controls in this game were very well done and fairly immersive to the sports they were trying to imitate. In my opinion the best kinect game so far. Not mind blowing but this disc provides a unique new fun way to play these sports and I'd say even better than a regular controller. Now we just hope this game can be made into more adult oriented sports games. As with many kinect games this one also creepily records video of you as you play. I'm really against this idea and delete my entire save data each time I play this title, that's how much I find it intrusive. . Expand

I agree, low ratings are probably due to people who think its a gimmick and crappy game. Once you play you'll realize how accurate the Kinect is and how much fun the games are. Especially table tennis.

This is a VERY GOOD game! I am amazed at the critic reviews here, I agree with chuckyj1 this should be an 85 at least. I believe the majority of these reviews are tailored towards the so called hardcore readership of their publications who, for some strange reason, feel threatened by Kinect and the mass consumer audience it appeals to. I am a hardcore gamer, I was brought up on Doom, Half Life and COD but I'm also open minded enough to appreciate new and exciting forms of entertainment. Kinect is certainly that and Kinect Sports a wonderful early example of the fun that can be had. Boxing is brilliant and introduces blocking as a fantastic tactical element making it a vast improvement on the Wii version, there is something entirely satisfying about blocking your opponents attacks before unleashing a combination of your own controller free shots.
Table tennis is equally fantastic, a compelling game that allows the player to hit the ball with varieties of spin dependent upon the arm movement used. Soccer is a surprising revelation, I expected a turn based football game to be awful, Rare though have managed to come up with a beautifully simple game that once again uses the wonders of Kinect motion control to track your body movement perfectly enabling you to kick the ball in the direction you chose, again there is something deeply satisfying about taking a free kick and bending it around the wall into the top right hand corner!
Whilst I haven't explored volley ball too much yet, the 3 mini-games above have kept me occupied for the last few days, my short practice game yielded another positive experience - it certainly wasn't a shocker.
Bowling is good not so dissimilar to the Wii version, it's a good implementation but nothing new.
Track and field is absolutely hilarious played with friends.
Additionally since purchase Microsoft have released a free party update a brilliant compendium of all little mini-games perfect for a large group of people.
All in all this is really an excellent game and whilst hugely enjoyable played alone really comes into its own when you have your mates around.

My family thinks this game is awesome! We have a 9 year old daughter and 6 year old son. The funniest one to play (and watch!) is the track and field game! The volleyball is also a good workout if you actually know how to play and do all the motions correctly - like you would in a real game. The soccer isn't as fun, but my son loves it. The table tennis is kind of funny. Again it's better if you play realistically, and don't just stand there waving your "paddle" back and forth. My mom and I played. I was all over the place, like I would if I were really playing. She was just standing still while barely swinging the paddle. :) She is in her sixties. :) The kids love the boxing. That can be tiring also!! These can be tiring games if you have a competitive bone in your body!!! :) Expand

PROS: Great for Multiplayer, pretty good response time, good graphics, decent variety in sports, provides decent excersize.
CONS: Gets boring in singleplayer, requires a pretty big room, Kinect doesn't always read the second player's movements as well.

Wii Sports has got some competition breathing down its neck with Kinect Sports. While the game doesn't support much outside of two-player competition (and even that's questionable) and has its reading issues, it's a well-planned collection that you shouldn't hesitate to pick up with your Kinect device. Let's hit the lanes!
