a decent game, and for a movie licensed game it is top class. a prequel to the movie you can play as the navi or humans battle your way through a semi open world while leveling up your characters abilities using light RPG elements. Incredible graphics, but all of the endings in the game fall awfully flat.

I liked the film very much and this game gave me one more chance to enjoy the world of Avatar. The graphics are quite good, Pandora is really beautiful. Gameplay is similar to Lost Planet and some other games but it didn't bore me, I enjoyed the plot as well. So, if you liked the movie you just are to try this game out. Enjoy this outstanding wold!

The game sucks, I guess, that this game would be a good first shooter for younger kids... but compared to any of the AAA titles that are out there (Gears of war, Uncharted, Call of duty) this game is complete garbage, plus the main thing, who actually has a TV that can do 3D??? They cost over 1,000$

I played and I choose the Na'Vi side, Yes it's repetitive but personally I like it, the JamesCamerons's universe is so stunned on PS3. Using skill at the right moment giving you the possibility to take control of your battle, frankly it's far away of 40/100, I'll recommend it to by friends for sure, so eager to see the movie !

Given the movie I can see why anyone wants to go and rush and buy the game.... until they read the reviews. I think this game is actually great as iti is so refreshing compared to other first person shooters. The world is sick and the way the game immerses you into it is clever. Playing as a Navi is very cool ! + a fun multiplayer ?? This game is must have.

For a game that promised to take you through the same emotional path as the movie, this game falls flat. It's hard to feel attached to such one-dimensional characters. The reviewers got it wrong.... this is a fun game with extremely pretty graphics. I found exploring Pandora to be thoroughly engrossing. It's not supposed to be a Modern Warfare 2 beater and it HAS piqued my interest in seeing the movie now. Give it a chance... movie tie-in games of this quality do not come along often.

DO NOT BUY THIS ! It is absolute rubbish. It plays terribly. Very clunky to control, some bad camera angles. Would really only be suitable for a childs first shooter experience. I only gave it a 1 because the graphics in some of the cut scenes are pretty...some. Verdict: Avoid like the bu-bonic plague !

don't trust gaming journalists and reviewers, they reserve high scores for multiplayer games, mindless shooters and frenetic hardcore games. avatar is a very good game.very enjoyable with very pretty graphics.few missions are a bit repetitive but the game is well-framed.

The planet Pandora is beautiful. The player character works ok. sometimes it gets clumsy on xbox 360. I finished the RDA campaign and now I'm working on the Na'vi campaign. I also liked the Pandorapeida feature. Lot's of sci fi and science mixed together.

It lacks the depth and maturity of hardcore games bearing the 17+ age rating, like Gears of War, but instead Avatar is enjoyable for casual gamers curious about exploring the incredibly beautiful world of Pandora. The controls are simple and the missions won't demand trained gaming skills, so the Avatar experience is truly accessible to anyone. This game is sooo underated, its not even funny. Gamespy 40? Come on! I played the multiplayer and first 4 levels and I had fun. Sure its not reinventing anything but heck its not half as bad as the critics seems to be saying. Rent it and see.

The gameplay is solid and the graphics are gorgeous. Contrary to what the professionals say the story is quite compelling. Quests are a little repetitive but not boring. A sniper rifle would have been nice and a larger more open ended maps would have provided that little bit extra to carry this game into 10 territory.

Although it fails in comparison to the standard set by FPS' (such as COD) and RPG's (Fallout 3), it does provide a good mix of the two especially taking into account the fact it IS a game tied to a movie. The compelling story and excellent graphics don't hurt it either.

First off I'd like to support this game. Number one it's a movie game and after just rewatching the movie I thought it was a perfect time to play the game and see what's what. I wasn't expecting much because of the bad reviews but as I played I have to say this game was unfairly scored by many and although not wowed I was pleasantly surprised. The game does an excellent tie in. Just like the movie it pulls on your strings who you should side with: invasive sky people or native aliens. The feel of the plot within the game matches the movie quite well. On top of that it's pretty decently constructed to be open world. Is it the best open world game? Well no, but it does a fabulous job portraying pandora and it's theme and as a bonus it's not linear. You actually get two campaigns in this one so valuewise it's pretty decent. The game is rated teen and I guess this is where it turned people off myself included being a little bit on the easy side and a bit of a fetch quest. It could have benefited from difficulty settings but I have to be fair it's a movie based game and they chose their market (teens) and the game difficulty is matched to advertised imo so not fair to bash it too hard on that merit. Now on top of that I feel the open world gameplay isn't really that bad all said. You are given creative loadouts as you progress through the game and they do help continue immersion within pandora. If you are fair imagine all the extra work it took to add software development to each of these loadouts skills. I think people were overly harsh with their ratings. Further to all this the game is presented in 3d so if you are able to take advantage of that this game almost is in must own territory. Story wise, this is a decent adaptation. It's different than the movie but follows the same theme of what took place in the movie. So all in all, for the most part I want to give this game an 8/10 for being must own or must play but I have to hold it down to 7/10 because the game does not have difficulty adjustments and is therefore only mostly suitable for the teen crowd. Since it's a movie game and the movie is long in the past with no sequels expected I have to reduce the score. On top of that the controls are a bit unpolished but for the most part are responsive without aggravating you except perhaps in the air on your ride. Ive played a lot worse games that this and I truly feel this is a decent game that deserves a better score. The gameplay may be a little iffy but if it is it's most likely you are not in the age bracket that's on the games label. Expand

It's common knowlege that movie games are mediocre and are usually only worth a rent. However Avatar shakes this assumption somewhat. It's story is somewhat bland and theres definite gameplay flaws but it succeeds more then it fails. It offers plenty of interesting missions, weapons and vehicle to keep you entertained. My only real complaint was the moronic control system for the helicopters. At the moment I'm two hours into the Navi side of the game, and I'm ready to rip the disc from my xbox and toss it in the garbage disposal. The Navi side is almost unplayable. Too much climbing, overpowered enemies (clubs and arrow vs. machine gun, you spend allot of time dead as a Navi), confusing missions, and if I fall off a ledge and die one more time due to the screwed up third person view. You can't zoom in or out on the map or mini map, so at one point I missed a turn and spent 45 minutes climbing around on those stupid cliffs unable to find the path to my target. The Navi development team spent all their time and budget on flying the lizards (which again suffers from a weird control system, but is cool once you get the hang of it) and ignore the rest of the game play. Like I said, I had scored this game a 7, but now it gets a ZERO! Do. Not. Buy. This. Game Expand

It does little to endorse Ubisoft's claim that it's been in development for years, as underneath the admittedly high-detail visuals it's a pretty rudimentary thing. It's a long way better than bilge like the Quantum of Solace, but it's certainly got no sense of a landmark pop-cultural moment, in the way we're repeatedly told the film will.
  2. Pandora could well lend itself to a great film, and would lend itself fabulously well to a good third-person action game. Unfortunately, despite providing two third-person action games here for the price of one, both of them are dull and forgettable.
  3. While the presentation is great and the combat generally enjoyable, the missions leave a lot to be desired - and there's little of the sense of wonder that the movie promises. Had the two campaigns been packed with superbly entertaining moments, the missions been more diverse in their structure, and the "vehicles" been more fun to man, then yes, Avatar the Game might have reached the heights its source material looks set to achieve.
