I'll give my honest opinion - this game is great fun. Even more so for Batman fans. It has a lot of customisation, and the fun game modes and range of maps will keep you going for some time. Firstly, no game is ever released when it's 100% finished. Almost every game will have patches and updates. Secondly, it is supposed to be a fun game in itself, not be compared to other FPS games. i bought this game yesterday expecting it to be just another decent arcade game. I can honestly say it maybe the best $15 i ever spent on a game. The gadgets are fun and the and the "unlock any weapon you want" tokens adds to the style you can make this game out to be. And to add on top of this, the level cap is 1000! what arcade game do you know allows you to rank up that much?

The weapons are cool, the game variants are basic and is somewhat funny. There is no single player campaign. The single player is actually a challenge mode where you use your gadgets and whatnot for a time attack to get medals. There are four multi player game variants: Team Deathmatch, Fumigation, Psych Warfare and Bounty Hunter. Team Deathmatch is what it is. Two teams killing each other. The kill limit was 50 but an update made it 75. Fumigation is like Domination in Modern Warfare. Your team has to take and hold "Gasblasters", which emit either Batgas or Laughing Gas, till it hits %100. When it happens the losing team succumbs to the gas and loses their weapons and are left to slap their opponents and die. Psych Warfare is like Griffball on Halo 3 and Reach. The objective is to pick up a battery and attach it to a device full of speakers on the opponents side. Whenever you attach the battery, you have to protect it for 30 seconds. The opponents have to try and detach the battery. If they can't then they get brainwashed and lose their weapons and can try to survive the slaughter for 20 seconds or try and slap their enemies to death. The team with the most successful conections win. Bounty Hunter is like Kill Confirmed in Modern Warfare 3. It is team deathmatch but kills only count when you collect their bounty (a coin). When you collect the bounty the kill counts and you get a little damage boost to your weapon. The kill imit is 50. Now the weapons of the game are really interesting. I am not going to describe all the weapons in the game but I will tell you some of the weapons that don't use bullets. The first weapon is the Boarding Party. This weapon is in a DLC pack and is really cool. This gun shoots out an annoying parrot. It has a homing ability and is used to distract and daze your enemy. The Witch Doctor is also in a DLC pack and is a great weapon but can be really annoying if you are on the other side of the weapon. It shoots out electric balls that can stick or bounce of walls pending on the mod you want. Most weapons have different mods and paint jobs. You can unlock the mods but leveling up and the paint jobs can be unlocked buy completing mod kills, 500 headshots (most weapons) and 1,000 kills. The DLC paint jobs, like Pizza and Dinosaur, are unlocked by buying the DLC packs. The Kitty and Snowflake paint jobs, which were added from an update, can be unlocked by the weekly challenges. The gadgets are another element you have to use and here are some. The Glider Rig is that you get a set of glider wings that can deploy when you are over an air vent, jump off a building, jump off a trampoline or jump off the ground. When you are in the air, you and hit the right trigger and dive bomb your enemies for some damage. The Grappling Gun is what it is and you can use it as a weapon. Just point and shoot to a place you can go to or a person. Ninja Smoke Bomb Is a bottle that you throw on the ground and makes you an invisible blur. The Support items are really awesome and are very helpful. There can be traps, explosives, projectile weapons or healing items. I will give you one of each. One of the healing items is the Care Package. It can give you and your teammates health and ammo and it is a heart shaped chocolate box full of ammo. In the trap items, there is the Toxic Gas. It's a can of beans and can disorient and hurt your opponent when they are in the gas cloud. The projectile weapon which is cool is the Shuriken. You can lock onto 3 people and throw them. Lastly, the explosive item available is the Pipe Bomb. It can bounce off the ground and wall and can deal massive damage. Now the this game comes with power ups which can be earned by either being killed five times or dealing 1,200 damage. The power ups can increase your weapon damage, defense or speed. You choose. The leveling up system is very good. Every time you level up you can unlock weapons, mods, support items, gadgets and costume slots. The costumes are unlocked by costume coins you earn per match. There are some costumes you can unlock by DLC packs as well. There are things that diminish the game. Sometime the gadgets can be glitchy when being used. Some weapons are tooo strong or too weak and some weapons played spam the hell out of. I give this game a 9 out of 10. There are a lot of other thing to talk about but it would take way too much space. It is a great game and is an awesome game when playing with friends. There is a high replay value with this game when it come to feat hunting and the weekly challenges. Expand

As fun and action-packed as it is, Imposters is really held back by its own matchmaking and party systems. Playing with friends is unintuitive at best and non-functional at worst. Thanks to the disconnect-happy, matchmaking system, you'll frequently find yourself waiting for long periods of time before getting into a game, that is if you manage to connect at all. Though the Imposters certainly manage to impress, they will soon wear out their welcome if the matchmaking situation isn't fixed quickly. 8/10 Expand

Another fact: the first REAL DLC for this game is being released in March, which includes a map, new weapons, etc. Guess how much it will cost? Nothing...the answer is $0. All of these reviews are making the developer to be just some money hungry team, but the actual TRUTH is that they invested in dedicated servers for all three platforms (360, PS3, and PC). COD doesn't have dedicated servers and they are constantly breaking records with sales in the BILLIONS. So for a $15 download title to have them, as well as give away the first map/weapon pack for free is the complete opposite of what these know-nothing, ignorant, uninformed (I know a little redundent) tools want you to believe. The gameplay is stellar, the graphics, because of the art-style of superb for a measily 2Gig download game, and most importantly the game is a lot of fun. Frantic action that surely any FPS fan will enjoy. In closing, most of the critics (and some ass clowns like jj350) are either uninformed and are rating the game without playing it or they are just hating for some unknown reason. You don't have to like the game, but to try to mislead people is wrong and **** And if you are doing that, I am only to assume you have some other motive than just disliking the game to write such a review. I am not a fan of FPSs at all. I remember extensively playing Doom on the SNES when it first came out and thinking it was awesome, but that is about the extent of my FPS playing aside from about 20 minutes of Call of Duty Modern Warfare. FPSs just aren't my thing, I suck at them and just can't get into them. However, I decided to try the beta for this because it looked interesting, a lot different than BF or COD. After downloading the beta on 360, I played at least an hour or two a night until they finally took it away from me on February 6th. I immediately purchased it on the 8th, as I am addicted to this game. What sets it apart from most FPSs is an abundance of gadgets that allow you to traverse the maps in unique and amusing ways. Need to get from point A to B in a hurry? Use a grappling hook. Or roller skates. Or a $%%*ing glider. The weapons, although many are renamed and repackaged as DIY type instruments of death, are pretty standard fare with a few exceptions. Graphically, the game is pretty good, but it could be a bit more polished. One bad thing I have noticed that is extremely annoying is that on occasion, say 1 out of 5 times, if I start a match my grappling hook won't actually fire. It will sometimes give the appearance of firing, but it won't attach to anything and I will lose out on a checkpoint because I couldn't get to it in time. I can stand there shooting at the same point or different points and it just doesn't do anything. Then there are the problems with organizing matches. About 2 out of 3 matches are fine, but then for some reason I will get kicked out of the match and go back to the lobby, where I am the only person there. And it will stay that way no matter what. I can change games, for instance, switch from Fumigation to something else, but no one else will be in those lobbies either. I am hoping they get these bugs worked out because the game is a blast to play. If this were a full on retail release, I would be more inclined to give it a lower score like a 7 or 8. However, due to the fact that there is a ton of replay value as well as customization in a title that costs $15, I am going to give it a 10. I think they will get the bugs worked out within the next few days, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Expand

The game's awesome. Played during the beta and it was fun, so now with 3 more maps, challenge mode and a 1000 level cap its great. Arcade shooters don't last for very long, but this one will probably be on the go for a few months especially with free dlc already announced for March. Hope they can support it well after that too.

Cons: 6v6 can be a downfall on the slightly larger maps, only five maps, kinda slow for server searching. Also to anyone who says the servers are bad, and that you have to pay to be good is false. The servers though slow to find one works really well i have never joined during a game or at the end of one and there is no lag. Then about the "Pay to be good" thing is just utter crap. You earn about 90% of everything the only exception is the mascots and the xp bonus, first of all the bonus is about 0.50$ and it isn't gonna dertermine how well you play and the mascots are just for show they don't have any perks or bonuses to your character. Now i have also been hearing that the graphics are bad. Considering it is only 15$ the graphics are really good and colorful. And it just grinds my gears when critics are comparing this game to CoD or Bf3, the truth is it shouldn't be this is a DLC for 15$ starting price while CoD is still selling for 40$. Verdict is that if you want something just all out fun with a very humorous side and very balanced gameplay and many levels but not an overwhelming amount this game is for you. I would give it a solid 9./10 and considering that free DLC will be out which may include new maps there is only one thing holding this game down and that is the 6v6 gameplay and the kinda slow server searcher both which are very minor to the whole experience. If you can combine all that without your head exploding, then you'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect from this game. Gun play is smooth and responsive, and the costumes look great and are a lot of fun to fabricate. the maps are nicely balanced, offering something for everyone, from runners and gunners to snipers. because of the gadgets and the way the game is played, camping is nonexistent (a problem that still plagues Call of Duty to this very day), so if you're a camper, get ready for a change. There are some single player challenges, that test your skills with various gadgets. these get you familiarized with the gadgets in game. the only problem i can find to complain about lies within the matchmaking, but I am sure that later patches will fix this issue. whether your a COD or Battlefield player looking for something new, a newbie to the FPS franchise, or just haven't ever played video games before now, i recommend this game to you, however, you will have to draw your own conclusions about the game Expand

The Graphics are extremely poor for Xbox 360 standards, and the gameplay leaves much to be desired. The fact that the matchmaking is somewhat broken only adds to how terrible and genuinely boring the game is to play. I would avoid this unless you enjoy bad games. There isn't any single player content, so once the online community dies out, you won't even be able to play the thing. Expand

    its fun.
i was in the beta for the game and i can say this is something i have really enjoyed.
at only $15 its not bad for someone who wants to play a decent shooter now and then
there are some balancing issues, not enough maps either but over all its one of the best shooters you can get. i'd give it a 7.5

Game came out incomplete and should've been held off for another month. Game lags, no player rejoin, hosts 3 bar while all others 1 bar, knife is terrible (weak imitation of COD), lobby crashes, teams start unmatched and with no rejoin it stays. Much more negatives, but all in all a waste until updated properly.

This is a fantastic FPS that finally risks taking creative strides rather than following the formulated methodical COD approach to the genre. The customization is unmatched in terms of class based shooters and the gameplay is fast fun and furious, not to mention this game is a quarter the price of what activision is making you pay every year for a regurgitation of the same stale product. This is a fantastic FPS that finally risks taking creative strides rather than following the formulated methodical COD approach to the genre. The DLC is available but completely ancillary if you're willing to earn the in game currency on your own. While there are imbalances in the game, the developers have wisely created counters to each and every play style; you just have to think a little and be willing to change your class. But all in all this is a breath of fresh air to the world of shooters. Great game for a small price. Expand

copies cod in a way that any sword/knife can probably kill u in one shot really ticks me off the buggy lobby system and the unfair teams are frustrating 2/10 would give it a 1/10 but i guessed since it is a fps i should be raging all over the place

I rate this game a good solid 8 because this game is awsome. People saying this game is bad beyond me it's an arcade game so there is not meant to be much to it like a full retail game like battlefield 3, so I think it earns the level I gave it

It's the best of all worlds, whimsical like the classic batman comics and intense like a hardcore game of call of duty... It's fun, but matchmaking can get a little dicey and for $15, I can live with that.

a solid team fortress style multiplayer game with a variety of unique maps, weapons, items, and special abilities. Great customization, you can edit your player to your hearts content, the gameplay is average and can bee buggy sometimes.

Recently replayed this game after seeing it was free for Xbox gold members. I believe that this game is still very solid and fun to play. Having the larger audience is nice because there were actually people that have not been playing the game since it came out 2 years ago. The humor is fun and the art style is interesting. I love that it is in the batman universe and is a multiplayer.Recently replayed this game after seeing it was free for Xbox gold members. I believe that this game is still very solid and fun to play. Pick it up if it is still free on Xbox360, it is worth playing for a few hours. :D Expand

Gotham City Impostors is a buggy mess of a game. The plot and character models are stupid and don't make any sense; the graphics are very poor, and the shooting is fun, but that fun is limited. I get my ass kicked on a regular basis. In fact, I am thrilled on those rare occasions when I'm not the absolute worst playing in a match. Even so, this is an incredibly fun game.

With me being a person who doesn't like cod, this game is a great alternative. It's not as serious as cod and it is so much fun! I've spent so many hours playing. The wacky characters, the fun weapons, and the overall feel of it, is just really great!

I actually really loved Gotham City Imposters. It's a shame it stopped being supported so quickly.

Overall Gotham City Imposters is a fun and fast-playing multiplayer game with a great sense of humor. If you're looking for a multiplayer shooter that you can jump into now and again for some quick fun, it's certainly worth a spot on your Xbox 360's hard drive.

It isn't quite as polished or diverse as it should be. [Issue#83, p.102]

Ultimately, the game's sloth-like progression of the first six or seven hours relies far too heavily on each player's patience. [Issue#120, p.99]
