Jan 26, 2023Easily the literally worst piece of garbage ever made by Square Enix, since the Xbox 360 era.
And still a piece of garbage even today.
You should avoid this trash, especially if you are looking for a jrpg, since this is definitely the worst I've ever played.
Automatic combat system, trash summons, trash plot, with literally 0 citys, and 0 NPC.
A sh/t corridor game, the worst kind of -

AngesterXApr 21, 2010Very pretty, but very boring. I played for about three hours before I realized I didn't care what happened to any of the characters. The fighting style is based on auto, which wouldn't be so lame if it wasn't time based fighting (no incentive to try out other moves). I assume a lot of people are going to like it, but I returned it to the rental place before it was due.

Mar 12, 2012Ill start by saying I was a massive fan of near enough every final fantasy game before this (except XI) but I must say that this game is nothing like the other games. This is a very bad thing . there is no over world it is soooo linear and also the battle system is terrible

Dec 6, 2016I have absolutley nothing positive to say, this game is complete and utter garbage. All you do is walk in a linear line from one stupendously long cut-scene to the next. You can't even over-level yoursself if you're struggling to beat a boss, it's the most linear and restrictive RPG I've ever played. I hate it.

Mar 6, 2017One of the worst Final Fantasy games ever made, if not the worst Final Fantasy game ever made. The only thing amazing about this game is the fact that it spawned not one but TWO sequels.

Dec 8, 2016This game is far and away the worst Final Fantasy game ever made. It almost universally makes players cringe. Between a mess of a story and uninteresting gameplay, it's a wonder this game sold anything other than preorder copies.

Sep 21, 2010Its a beautiful game, but it fails in the aspect that it is too linear and it still does not beat FFVII for story and variety. The battle system, while no doubt some will love it and some will hate it, i was disappointed by it. These flaws are i can only give it a 9

Sep 23, 2010While the fan reaction to Final Fantasy XIII is one of the most polarized that a Final Fantasy game has seen since the arrival of Final Fantasy IX, I find myself firmly on the fence. It's a great RPG, but it takes a lot of rather daunting risks with the traditional formula that fans have come to expect. Unsurprisingly, not all of them turn up roses.

May 16, 2013Such a tragic letdown. After years of being the first name in console RPGs, Square has had nothing but a trilogy of beautiful polished turds in it's last three numbered final fantasies.

The streamlined, focused structure eliminates potential tedium without dumbing anything down, and the battle system strikes an elegant balance between strategy and fast-paced action. Stunningly beautiful graphics and a pervasively meticulous level of polish throughout only add to the experience.
-
We can't assure it is a turning point in the series, but it manages to make fights fun and it's no doubt an outstanding game.

Official Xbox MagazineWhile the game's first 10 hours still give me pause, the 60 magnificent hours after those initial steps onto Cocoon make up for the tunnel-vision tutorial. [Apr 2010, p.68]
