    Why do people hate this game? The shooting is good along with stellar melee and finishing moves, aswell as that it's pretty funny. Also the minigames rule

    So i played this in 2023 on my XBox One via backwards compatibility. I always wanted to try this game knowing that it was produced for 15 years and because of that it became a classic in some strange way, I prepared myself that it will be a bad game before i started.....And it was..I mean,it is not the worst game ever,i finished it (altough it probably has the worst controls ever). ItSo i played this in 2023 on my XBox One via backwards compatibility. I always wanted to try this game knowing that it was produced for 15 years and because of that it became a classic in some strange way, I prepared myself that it will be a bad game before i started.....And it was..I mean,it is not the worst game ever,i finished it (altough it probably has the worst controls ever). It took that long time to produce, but it looks like it was rushed and made in 6 months. It has a few intersting missions and enemy models, it definitely had the potential but at the end it is a bad game. Length is fine, i took my time and it was probably worth for the money i paid (3,4 dollars). I liked the interaction with the enviroment but it should be made much better. At some points, the game is VERY VERY hard, but i think it's more from the glitchy production than the real difficulty. For example, i beat the final boss from the first try, and i had problems with some flying barrels which is hard to evade and they are insta kill, and the flying Octopus-brain things are hard and sometimes you need to have a little bit of luck to beat them because of bad controls. Overall,im glad that i beat this iconic game just to be sure that it is a big junk. Also, fps is too low at some points, and the graphics are awful. The only thing that is rendered good and realistic are b**bs. And i am not kidding. It is the only thing that looks good in the game.… Expand

    One of the funniest games I have ever played with it humor and jokes and I also love it gameplay and I also like boss fights too and this game is amazing and people say it’s disappointing because it took like 15 years to make it had mixed reviews and this is a great fps game no one know what people say about it I will always enjoy it

    well. guys i pick up this game. 1 year playing this no players at the servers online(obiously). load times so goddamn long, very classic controller the game basically its funny but really you paid 60 dollars this c**p? are you crazy? i paid 5 usd for this. my point at this is your choose for buy it or not. 5/10

Graphics look awful, gameplay and multiplayer are dated and the humour is the epitome of stupidity. Nevertheless, some ideas are funny and the difficulty is challenging. Hands off Duke fans!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game is one of the worst i ever played and i will play it in my **** life, i couldn't even stay 3 minutes in this game without criticizing something that happens, loading every 10 minutes where you stop in almost the same place, stupid bosses, humor idiot, duke walks like a son of a **** useless objects, and he could spend the whole day talking about **** but the biggest **** is when you get the car, you drive it with the joystick more after the **** loading screen you walk with RT THIS IS A **** when the enemy dies and drops a bomb the bomb goes at you as if he is alive, when you are under a platform and the enemies are on top he starts throwing grenade for no reason and the grenades for some reason do not damage them, and the bugs that are everywhere can’t play this **** without bugs, and the game doesn’t change in the entire gameplay and it’s always the same, and the duke is moaning when you enter in a car, get off the ground, jump, get out of the car and wed and the whole game, and the complete opposite of 3D that the focus was different, this is a ****ty version of Halo that is even my favorite game, to finish the only good thing in the game are the interaction levels (which are only 2 ) that are very Duke Nukem style but that's all, the rest of the game sucks and I wouldn't recommend this **** to my worst enemy… Expand

    Este game? Apenas consegue trazer sua ruindade em memória, mesmo que o próprip Duke seja engraçado algumas vezes.

    Ok Randy Pitchford, please make this game, along with Alien Colonial Marines, available as Xbox One Backwards Compatible games. Per Major Nelson, it's up to you guys to make this happen.

    I gave both games a 10, because I really enjoyed them, despite some flaws. The DLC for both games are actually even better than the base games. So Randy, I'm waiting.... Sign those forms...     Sacré tour de force que de cumuler les défauts de jouabilité d'un jeu d'une génération désuète et surannée (et pour cause, 13 ans de retard Monsieur le Duc !) aux tics de la génération actuelle, c'est-à-dire tout ce qui fait qu'Halo est Halo (quels que soient les numéros) mais évidemment, ce qui marche avec Halo ne fonctionne pas avec le cadavre du Duc (revenu des morts et ressuscité àSacré tour de force que de cumuler les défauts de jouabilité d'un jeu d'une génération désuète et surannée (et pour cause, 13 ans de retard Monsieur le Duc !) aux tics de la génération actuelle, c'est-à-dire tout ce qui fait qu'Halo est Halo (quels que soient les numéros) mais évidemment, ce qui marche avec Halo ne fonctionne pas avec le cadavre du Duc (revenu des morts et ressuscité à l'insu de son ignorance).

    Ainsi, la vie qui remonte toute seule et le fait de ne porter que deux armes par exemple est un choix grotesque pour un jeu aussi rétro que le Duc Pour Toujours. Sans oublier ces maudits points de sauvegarde automatique également !

    Du côté rétro qui a remonté le temps jusqu'à nos jours et qui ne fonctionnait déjà pas à l'époque, on peut citer la progression par énigmes alors que Monsieur le Duc est pourtant réputé pour sa beauferie inégalée. Bourrin le Duc ? non juste chiant et depuis toujours ! A l'époque, c'était certes bien pire puisque les niveaux entiers étaient des énigmes à s'arracher les cheveux. Personnellement je n'ai plus le temps de regarder des solutions pour résoudre de tels jeux de piste : j'appuie sur "eject". En fait, à l'époque je m'amusais surtout à faire des cartes rigololes pour le multi avec l'excellent éditeur intégré, le "Build" mais point de cela ici évidemment !

    Le Duc à la bourre est desservi par un moteur Unreal qu'on a du mal à reconnaître tant ce dernier est à bout de souffle : temps de chargement à la limite du scandale, crénelage à gogo et fluidité très discutable. Un bon point quand même : le doublage de Monsieur le Duc par le doubleur de Schwarzy, Sam Fisher (et Batou dans GITS !), l'excellent Daniel Beretta. Mais ça ne sauve pas les meubles hélas.    … Expand

Duke Nukem Forever takes a step backwards with cheesy humour which is simply not funny, boring generic game play and uncontrollable vehicle and turret sections. There were some moments of enjoyment, however I feel most of these were nostalgia from seeing something recognisable from Duke Nukem 3D.     First, let me start with the bad. The graphics are definitely not as good as they should be for a game made in 2011. The loading times between scenes and deaths make you contemplate if it would be faster to restart the game itself. The controls are very rigid. And finally, if your looking for a game with a deeply involving plot with intriguing storyline, then you obviously don't know the Duke Nukem franchise and are too young to be playing this anyways.

    Now the good. It has all the Duke Nukem adult humour and lines. (Granted borrowed from Bruce Campbell) Pretty much all the classic weapons and enemies, plus a couple new ones. Multiplayer follows the traditional classic pre CoD formula of picking up new weapons with an XP system to unlock items and themed girls for your penthouse and accessories your player.

    My overall opinion: This game is just simply okay. It doesn't really bring anything new to the FPS genre or to the Duke Nukem franchise. A majority of the people will be buying this game simply for nostalgia, in which case this game does deliver. Also being able to buy a game with a more adult sense of humour is also nice. Multiplayer will keep you occupied for a little while as long as you are not too much of a Battlefield or CoD fanboy. I would say wait for this game to go down to the 20 dollars before buying it.     There is nothing wrong with this game in my opinion. I liked the story and the game play and found everything worked well. The controls and weapons were good and I thought the game was funny and lots of fun to play. The load times are a bit slow but that is my only small complaint. I don't understand why this game is getting so much hate. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

    Big Duke fan here, got a laugh or two from the jokes, had a nostalgia trip, but this game just feels unfinished and unpolished and not fun. The classic duke humor is still there, but that's just about it.

    A used purchase for 5 dollars, I bought this game expecting a laughably bad experience. Instead, Duke Nukem Forever pleasantly surprised me. While not a groundbreaking title, and plagued by ugly graphics, long load times, and bland humor, I found myself actually enjoying this game far more than I expected. A decidedly average shooter compared to its predecessor, Duke Nukem Forever stillA used purchase for 5 dollars, I bought this game expecting a laughably bad experience. Instead, Duke Nukem Forever pleasantly surprised me. While not a groundbreaking title, and plagued by ugly graphics, long load times, and bland humor, I found myself actually enjoying this game far more than I expected. A decidedly average shooter compared to its predecessor, Duke Nukem Forever still manages to deliver fast paced gunfights, reasonably well designed weapons, and several good ideas (shrunk levels being a particularly outstanding example).

    Incredibly common and dirt cheap these days, if you see this game around for a good price, don't pass it up. It's well worth it to play a game that's a legend in its own disappointment, and you may even have some fun along the way.    … Expand

    In fact, i think you spend more time on loading screens than playing the game.

    Damn this game was bad. After Years of waiting, we got this piece of crap. I have to say this - duke nukem games always was overrated, that being said this game is also overrated compared to meta score (4.4? for what?).

    I'll say this real quick, unless your a fan of classic Duke Nukem, you will hate this game.
    Lets look at the positives first:

    NOW the negatives:
    The graphics are dated, the story is just there for you to kill things and the environment puzzles are ridiculous.
    Unlike some people, who complained about Duke Nukem Forever's "The Hive" level and it's derogatory view of women, I will only say one thing. It's Duke Nukem.
    It is offensive, the entire series thrived on being sexist. The only reason it's a problem now is because it's a different generation. Does that mean I agree with it? No it does not. But that doesn't mean that I'm offended by it either.
    On the level design I have to say they failed. It takes forever to get to your goal and some levels end without one alien being shot. The Horror!
    It can be a fun game if you let it, but go in mindful of what your playing.

It kinda shows. This game feels like it wants to be a new shooter but can't be. It's pretty bad. If you want a new, good shooter, get Battlefield Bad Company, CoD 4-BO1 or damn near anything else (justThis game is infamous for being delayed for 13 YEARS (from 1997-2011).     Is it really that bad? Ok, it's not a great game but, its pretty decent. It's a very funny game. The graphics are pretty good and the gameplay is fun but has some issues. There are some glitches in and they are pretty bad. And there needed to be more checkpoints or the ability to save when you wanted. Overall, it an ok game.

The physics are poor, the gameplay is poor and the humour is poor, there is nothing on offer at all beyond the games introduction. As a big fan of Duke Nukem 3D IPossibly the biggest flop in gaming history, 12 years in the making and you can tell as the graphics fluctuate between the different console generations, I swear there are Playstation standard textures scattered everywhere.     this game is very good for what it's been thought 13 years in development hell it turn out good I like the story the music and we got to see a few bit of **** but I want to see more and graphics are not that good but there ok the Multiplayer ok it's not the best some of the min games are fun(:

    Ill say this down right. I'm only giving this a 10 out of spite for the people that hate this game because it's NOT call of duty. This game was a step in the right direction for the it's genre that could have pulled FPS games out of the creative black hole it been stuck in since CoD was thing.

    The potential for a fun but simple shooter is here, but even with Gearbox at the helm Duke Nukem Forever is clearly a hastily-cobbled sum of unfinished parts. It could have been epic if it was released 3 to 4 years ago, but nowadays there are new rivals for the throne.
