I've been a fan of this series since i played on the PS2 and was extatic when i found out over a year and a half ago that it was coming out on 360. This is one of the most addictive games you will ever play. I highly recommend picking it up since it also has one of the lowest pricetags you will find for new 360 games.

You land on sqaures, claim a property by summoning a creature to guard it. You can raise the value of the real estate over time. You use creatures to battle and take over opponents real estate. When your opponent can no longer pay his rent, he loses and you claim his existing holdings.

Cards can be creatures, weapons, armor, spells to affect the game (some in very large ways), or how many spaces you move on your dice roll. You can even sabotage opponents dice rolls.

Expect many review sites to butcher the reviews due to the continued ignorance and lack of vision on their part. When you play againt someone in the game, expect the game to go as long as some Monopoly games. You can choose short small "boards" with 1 opponent or large ones with many opponents. All whom use their own decks. You gain cards at the end of each win. This game has endless replayability with a persistance in the ability to slowly build a nice library of cards to build decks from. One of my favorites and I can't wait for this title to be released.

Culdcept Saga is a fantastic blend of luck and strategy. The game play has a higher learning curve than some games, but the turn-based nature gives you time to contemplate your choices before you make them. After a few games, I haven't found anyone who wasn't completely hooked.

If this game was any more addictive, it would be illegal. I never expected to see a sequel to the outstanding PS2 game, but here it is. Goodbye, free time. Goodbye, sick days. Goodbye, sleep. Goodbye, social life!

This game is getting absolutely SLAMMED on all the usual suspect video gaming websites, but one thing I've noticed is that the community is never really happy with the review. It seems like the purported "niche" market games like this are geared towards was a bit bigger than say...IGN accounted for.

I would question the randomness of the dice when playing the AI. Example scenario... suspend a single player game, return to the game and play 5 turns noting the dice rolls. Quit to title menu and go back to the save point. Play five turns again and your first few 3-5 dice rolls will be identical. Expand

This is one of the most addictive games I've ever played. With the xbox live online matches I see myself playing this (along with Smash Bros. brawl) for years and years to come!

Negatives: - Noticeable game slowdown when a large map is heavily populated by animated creatures. - Unable to pause game during AI turns. Expand

Culdcept Saga has so many glaring flaws. The cutscenes are some of the ugliest I've seen since the PS1, featuring the kind of voice acting that B-movies would be ashames of. The story is truly excrable, being not only boring, but utterly indecipherable to boot. So it's truly a feat that the gameply is sufficient to overcome these hideous shortfalls. The tactical and strategic depth is such that the allure of deck design is truly enthralling. The opportunity for underhandedness late in a game is thrilling. The achievements are reasonably well designed, giving another twist to the desk designing and gameplay required. This game is surprisingly addictive. If you ever played a CCG your going to love this. If your looking for superior voice acting you should already know this isn't for you. Great game. It strays from typical console games, which I find refreshing as well. Hours upon hours of fun gathering cards and playing through the story line to get the E cards and then playing online. Lots of possibilities for different decks and combinations.

The story is shit but the mechanics and depth are amazing. If you like CCGs, pick this up. I've been averaging 4 hours a night on this since it came out in the US.

I love this game. The blend of RPG, JRPG, SRPG, and TCG is so unique. Plus, just when you think you have your deck sorted and built to biased perfection and you get lazy because you think you can play on autopilot and win the game reminds you with a game over screen that you have to constantly think about your strategy throughout this game.

This is a great strategic blend between Magic the Gathering, Monopoly, and basic Stock Market trading. Be forewarned - a modest game can take HOURS to complete; however, if you are into deep strategy and complex, long form gameplay you won't be disappointed.

  1. In the end, Culdcept Saga is a title where your mileage is going to vary greatly depending on your tastes.
  2. Culdcept SAGA is not for everybody. This is a slow-paced game with ugly graphics, a steep learning curve, and a terrible story line. Yet despite all of those imperfections, this is one adventure game that I will wholeheartedly endorse ... just as long as you're the kind of gamer that can handle it.
  3. Culdcept Saga does have one major addition over its predecessor: online play. While local multiplayer is still an option, Namco Bandai has included four-player online play in Culdcept Saga and it works like a dream.
