E.B.Jul 16, 2009One of the last truly great Genesis games. A 2d beat em up with a twist, jumping around sketches in a comic book, complete with amazing animation and top notch combat. It has aged well and theres definitely a challenge in completing the game. Highly recommended!

MarkDSep 4, 2009One of those forgotten classics that didn't quite get the attention it deserved, partly because it came out towards the end of the Megadrives lifespan.
Make no mistake though this is still a hugely playable, innovative game even today. If you're a fan of old school scrolling beat em ups this is unmissable. -

Mar 28, 2017A Sega Mega Drive/Genesis classic for modern consoles. This is a quality game that is well worth a play through, If you've never played Comix Zone before then you're missing out.

Jul 18, 2018Despite having some overly basic controls, Comix Zone deserves its cult status for its unique art style and satisfying gameplay.

Jul 8, 2021An amazing and wonderful game that is amazingly faithful to the comic book elements and brings the gamer into the happy and creative world of the comic book! Really bold!

Mar 22, 2022Such a unique game with an amazing presentation. As a sega genesis lover, you'd be sad to miss this gem, so I recommend you play the game via SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis Classics!

The "enhanced" visual setting makes the game look worse than the classic view and the dodge move is almost impossible to pull off.
-
The game is arguably a little too tough, with plenty of ways to lose health but few to top it back up again, and there are a couple of precision do-or-die leaps that act as stark reminders of the game's unforgiving vintage. Those caveats aside, Comix Zone still impresses with its ideas and execution and is a definite highlight of SEGA's retro line-up.
