Jul 18, 2012The story of this game just doesn't particularly stand out from any other FPS game, and the multiplayer doesn't live up to what was left by Infinity Ward in Modern Warfare. However, despite being an average game in the previous respects, the innovative zombies mode and the way it is incorporated into the game make this a stand out title among others.

Nov 18, 2013The pinnacle of the Call of Duty franchise. It all went downhill from there. Honestly, I enjoyed the crap out of this game and still do now 5 years later. It makes me feel old.

Nov 4, 2012Second best Cod game ever(slightley beaten by cod 4 mw1) Campaigns great, mulitplayers epic and zombie is awesome. Cods suck now a days but the good ones will never be forgotten. Call of Duty: World at War 9.3/10

Nov 28, 2012This game has some good ideas such as zombies which makes ppl get hard but some of the maps are kinda gay and the tanks are overpowered . The dogs get kind of annoying and sniping doesnt exist in this game
-
Jun 25, 2013The game may tread too deep into some decidedly grim territory at times, but "Call Of Duty: World At War" still makes for an impactful WWII shooter with some awesome gameplay additions to the franchise.
-
Oct 3, 2017Call of Duty: World at War is more of a side-step then a step forward in the Call of Duty series. Reverting back to it's WWII roots, World at War brings the multiplayer formula from CoD4 and essentially puts a WWII skin on it. The introduction of Zombies serves as a positive sign to come for the series.

May 28, 2013I like the veteran playthrough, like it. haven't play co-op, zombie, and multiplayer that much. the 7 is mainly for the satisfaction after finishing the game on veteran.

May 26, 2013Treyarch might be one of my favorite game company for this. This is the most bloody, exciting, and explosive Call of Duty since Finest Hour and Medal of Honor! Its just to bad this is the last WWII CoD in the franchise.

Dec 7, 2013Campaign is really good. I love playin Coop. I love this game. This game, Modernwarfare2 and Modernwarfare are the only ones that I've played that aren't copy cats.

Jan 19, 2014I didn't play this game very long, I shot one guy in the head then my screen was cluttered with a notice telling me what I had just done with points underneath, I don't want my immersion taken away by on screen numberwang. This game took a tired concept and made it worse with no efforts to do anything good with the franchise. This game was truly the final nail in the COD coffin.

May 29, 2014Graphics: 9.0 Sound: 9.0 Gameplay: 9.0 Fun/Story: 7.8
A consistent and solid FPS. Great graphics and maps design. Perhaps it should be more polished to get higher score. -
Jul 14, 2014This is one of the best call of duty games that not only tries to focus on making the campaign really great but also by making the multiplayer really great. Zombies is a great addition for multiplayer and campaign can get a bit boring after awhile. The story is the best I have seen in a world war 2 game and the graphics are great.

Oct 19, 2014This is easily my favorite COD game, the story is just amazing. a great WWII shooter. the multiplayer needed work but it was fun nonetheless. The characters were unique and interesting. Just an example of a good game.

Nov 1, 2019Treyarch’s take on WW2 is historically accurate that will make you experience the terrors that happened in the past as you play their story. By porting the COD4 engine over to WaW, the multiplayer and the infamous arcade mode is what started it all before it became a gaming trend in COD history. And this is probably the best damn single player campaign they have ever done.
-
Dec 1, 2014This was a good game overall. I liked the fact they decided to go with the WWII theme one last time. The Zombie Mode was also really enjoyable for me. It does seem like they could have done better on the campaign, however. It is also unfortunate that there are a lot of hackers on the multiplayer part of this game.

May 21, 2023Played it again via backwards compatibility. Just a simle, good old CoD campaign. Descent story and characters, and good locations. Not the best one out there, but definitely a good game. Final mission really felt good.
-
Oct 21, 2018A fantastic campaign and fun zombies mode is what made this game stand out at the time alongside its fun multiplayer that despite being fun wasn't as impressive as its predecessor Call of Duty 4

Apr 3, 20179.1 - Fantastic COD. Revolutionary in terms of the Zombies mode, which, on Steam had awesome custom maps in addition to the original. Multiplayer was generally fair in terms of the weapons and perks, and maps were really well designed. Campaign was also very fun as you could play cooperatively as well.

Jul 25, 2017great game i got this a while back and i cant stop playing it has a great hit box system and is fun in general the campaign even though there is only from what i know its still fun to play over and over for hours.
-
May 21, 2019This game has the weakest multiplayer and story of the Call of Duty games that I've played (with the exception of Advanced Warfare for the story), but the introduction of Zombies bumps this up a ton in my book.

Dec 19, 2019The campaign is really good but it still has flaws like how the enemies throw grenades with pin-point accuracy. I was enjoying the campaign until I got near the end, the Japanese part. It seemed repetitive and I stopped playing for about a month until i got back to playing. The multiplayer is pretty fun. The zombies mode is also really good and saves this game from being rated lower.
-
Jul 24, 2020I wasn't able to play multiplayer because when i played it it was either empty or filled with cheaters BUT it has a really memorable and enjoyable campaign about the 2nd world war and the zombies at the end was icing at the top

Jun 26, 2021I wish I was old enough to play this game back in its hayday, but unfortunately I was only seven when this came out and all I had at the time was a Nintendo 64 and an NES.

Sep 15, 2019Multilayer is an absolute blast, sound design and graphics still hold up very well. Music is superb and it doesn't shy away on showing how tough war really is. Classic Call of Duty. A must buy even in 2019.
-
Jun 26, 2021This game is an excellent production of game industry, providing expected and accessible gaming experience.

Jun 4, 2020what a game just dont get the ps2 vers cause it sucks like the xmen ow ps2 game. i dont know wich i got first but i sure as hell did not learn my lesson the first time
-
Jan 18, 2022A dull and repetitive experience... Both campaigns had a lot of potential but it didn't really worked for me. Russian part was much better with better variety of chapters at least there were some sneaky part. Too many brainless shooting and moving forward without any deeper sense. Little plus for first zombie Mode and multiplayer although they are both dead at the time.

Apr 28, 2022fond memories of this game, i dont think its the greatest, but it was my first cod
-
Aug 1, 2022It's not bad but I didn't find myself blown away with it in anyway. The campaign was great but I didn't think the characters were compelling enough for me to care. I also wish they worked a bit more on the soundtrack, the music for me, plays a big role on immersion.
-
Dec 24, 2022Answer: 75 characters is between 10 words and 19 words with spaces included in the character count. If spaces are not included in the character count, then 75 characters is between 12 words and 25 words.

Feb 9, 2023This game was my childhood, and it always will be. Such a shame that online is pretty much just a baron wasteland, as it would be a great experience to play this game online again. I feel we desperately need a re-release of this game on modern consoles, not a re-master, as I want the game to be untouched, as the game already is great.

Aug 29, 2023Best campaign you cant change my mind, and also this game is the reasons zombie mode exist. I cant talk about multiplayer because its full of hacker but the servers that aren't infested whit hackers are good. :D
-
Sep 3, 2023A too generic shooter. The story is too short and the multiplayer is not at the level of the other games in the saga.
Awards & Rankings
-
Call of Duty: World At War needs better character development and more "oh my God" moments. However, it's still a terrific first-person shooter. The combat is tight, the presentation shines and the multiplayer, particularly Nazi Zombie mode and co-op campaign, will keep you blasting enemy soldiers for weeks.
-
Treyarch did a remarkable job of breathing new life into the WWII shooter. They followed the conventions outlined by Infinity Ward to a tee and, as a result, created a shooter that is every bit as good as last year's entry. Of course, there isn't a whole lot of innovation this time around, but the increased Multiplayer options, new settings, and great enemy A.I. should more than satisfy all but the most jaded Infinity Ward fanboys.
-
Although the campaign storyline isn't nearly as engaging as the one seen in "CoD4," there should be enough memorable set pieces and intense sequences to keep you riveted throughout. The addition of a co-op mode brings a great deal of replay value to the proceedings, especially once you start throwing the death cards into the mix. Ultimately, it's the multiplayer and co-op action that will keep us coming back for more.
