    The pinnacle of RPG FPS games. A gripping story that doesn't shove the narrative in your face. The most important character in the game is the world, Rapture. The setting, tone, combat, and game systems work so well together and is the ultimate "shock like" title to date.

An interesting story, plenty of nice embellishments and an original weapons system make up for a slightly unsatisfying combat system that relies upon your "respawning" when you are killed, which makes enemies more a nuisance than a threat.     Finally finished and played Bioshock 1 for the first time, The story and characters are all great. The levels have great atmosphere but could have been better designed to feel less repetitive. The combat in this game is super fun and satisfying, also the different powers and abilities give you tons of ways to playthrough things again and again.     One of the games you should point to when you want to prove to someone that game are an art form.For the first time in my life a game challenged me on an intellectual level when a game designer designs a game you dont ask questions you just play the game the designer wants and bioshock is the first game i have played that challenged that notion.     Played this for the first time 2 days ago. Started it and finished it in the same day. The game was amazing. The setting of Rapture is such a damn good place. You feel trapped yet it still looks amazing. The Big Daddies are creepy yet cool looking, the Little Sisters are creepy and saving them is creepy.     Gran sparatutto in soggettiva: grafica e sonoro di alto livello, ottima giocabilità e un'atmosfera molto particolare, che richiama gli anni 50.
    Dinamiche varie e giusta longevità, alternanza di armi da fuoco e superpoteri molto interessante.
    Anche la trama è intrigante e ben studiata (cosa piuttosto rara nei giochi di questo genere).

    An absolute masterpiece. I played it in 2022 for the first time and my word does it hold up. I miss the days where we got a lot of good high quality linear games that were only 10-15 hours long. This is a must play!

    Dude? People who havent played this should, even if Bioshock 2 was bad, and Infinite was ok, the sort of soft horror this game gives off is what i loved, and it was extremely solid. Bioshock 1 is the best.

    Cool world, story, weapons, upgrades and mechanics. love the water.

    Donde Bioshock flojea es en algunas mecánicas.
    El minijuego de hackear corta y mucho el ritmo, siendo muchas veces injusto al ser aleatorio. La banda sonora apenas tiene algún tema que pase al recuerdo y la recta final es muy mala con un jefe final lo más insípido que he visto en años.    … Expand

    The plot is extremely intriguing and dark; it involves a City in the likes of the myth of Atlantis, the Lost City but taken further to the point that evil alien-type creatures are invading the city and the political system.

    Talking about politics, this video game has a sub-plot involving political strategies and an ancient political system accused of being corrupt and cruel for a futuristic City.

    To make this better, we have futuristic and spectacular weapons that will let you eyed open. You won't see more complex and impressive weapons in any other game. Most of them are deadly and deliver extremely impressive and violent results.

    Overall this is the most atmospheric game created for xbox 360. Don't look further and buy this game. I won't recommend it for a specific audience; it's a game for everyone.

I loved the ambient soundtrack and the music; Ken Levine gave this game 100%. The moral code is a bit too much black and white and the only ending that BioShock needed was the good ending but considering all that it's still fantasticBioShock is not perfect; no game is perfect but BioShock is so unique and original. But for whatever reason at around 3/4 through the game (just after the Atlas plot-twist), the quality of the game performs a nosedive and quickly becomes incredibly bland. Vibrant and colorful environments are replaced with a series of grey bland corridors. The game stops creating new elaborations on its combat and instead just throws a bunch of enemies at you. The one interesting idea the game has in its final moments is turning you into a Big Daddy, which sounds so cool on paper, and yet they found a way to make it boring! The majority of the game is great, but its final stretch is enough to transform it into a mediocre experience for me.… Expand

    Bioshock is a classic of the seventh generation of gaming and I believe it's game that most people into gaming should experience at least once. What the game does so well for starters is it's atmosphere and world building. The city of Rapture that it takes place in is so beautiful and it will draw you right and make you want to explore and learn more about it. Now while I did say the game is beautiful some textures and areas certainly show there age but the art style is where it shines and gives the game it's character. Along with that the music fits very well and give you this sense of wonder or terror at times. And the political commentary present in the game and it's critiques on capitalism is done wonderfully with out feeling like it's completely hitting you over the head with it. And the story telling present in the game along with it's environmental storytelling is also done fantastically. And not to give it away but the twist that comes a little over half way through the game is defiantly one of the best twists in gaming to this day.

    Now I could go on with praising the game and yeah I really love the game however revisiting it now I do see some issues present that feel the need to bring up, For starters the gunplay is quiet sluggish by todays standards and so trying to land accurate shots just feels awkward to control at times. Although I will say I do still enjoy using most of the guns in the game it's just that they don't feel fluent to control. The plasmids on the other hand while cool and many of them are fun to use a lot of them I found to be useless a lot of the time and just found myself using like 4 of them a majority of the game. A common complaint among players that I agree with is the two different endings and how one is objectively worse in both a narrative stand point and a gameplay standpoint because in the long run you will receive less rewards by the end so really what's the point of the evil path. And the final boss as everyone who has played knows is kind of dumb and doesn't really make sense but I can forgive these two blights on the game as they were apparently the only prerequisites from the publisher for the game so whatever. Overall the game is still fantastic and I would say a definite must play for most gamers out there.    … Expand

    The story of Bioshock is simple in concept, You play as someone whos plane crashes in the middle of the sea and following the light to a lighthouse, decends into the underwater city of Rapture run by the ruler/bad guy Andrew Ryan. What follows is a epic story/quest to not only escape but help those who want out as well. I don't want to say anymore than that as this is a game you really need to experience first hand yourself. Audio diaries scattered throughout the world flesh out what the city USED to be like and adds a extra layer of depth to the story and game.

    Gameplay is also excellent in bioshock. It is a First Person Shooter, However what makes this unique is the special powers you can get in your arsenal or "Plasmids" as they are known in game. These powers allow you to do crazy things like shooting electricity at your foes or freeze them or use telekinesis to throw objects at them. You don't get all these powerups at first so as you progress you get stronger and stronger! To maximize your power and potential though you need to go after the big brutes knows as Big Daddies...These brutes are the hardest creatures to take down but if you can take them down and rescue or harvest the Little Sister (Which also detemines if you have the good ending or the bad ending) you get your ADAM (Currency) and get even more powerful. What makes this so clever is that if you want to go for the good ending, you dont get alot for it but you get the good ending, however if you want to make the game easier for yourself, you can go for the bad ending and get powerful BUT you will be bad in the process. It is the constant battle of good v evil which makes it just superb.

    Final thing to mention I think is the world of rapture itself. This city is very immersive, one of the most immersive worlds I have played in. The way the city is falling apart and parts where the water seeps into the environment is very well put together. Overall well designed and a BIG part of the game. It is almost as if the city itself is its own character.

    In conclusion, I think it is safe to say this is one of the all time greatest games that came out on the Xbox 360/PS3 era of consoles. There is a remaster which includes all 3 games in this series together in one bundle. If you have never played this game or series, I would say...Would You Kindly?    … Expand

    BioShock was the next level in game industry, like HALO CE and Half-life and while it was released alongside two other masterpieces, BioShock felt more novel and fresh.

    Bioshock 1 is still a classic, and probably the best game of 2007. Bioshock showed games still can combine great story-telling with timeless visuals.

    This game is nothing less than a masterpiece but why i gave it a 9? Well because the second time i played this game i was a little bit disappointed with the endings, they felt really rushed and unsatisfying. But other than that this game is one of the best games ever made alongside some other masterpieces like Halo CE and Half-life.

И если сюжет, как и прежде держит в напряжении, то механика боя, стрельбы,Страшно себе представить, казалось бы, еще вчера исследовал удивительный мрачный подводный город Восторг, рубился с большими папочками и с прочими неадекватными его обитателями. И это было действительно увлекательно, круто и атмосферно. Но как ни крути 13 лет уже отбрасывают густую тень морального устаревания. И если сюжет, как и прежде держит в напряжении, то механика боя, стрельбы, поведение вражеских неписей и прочее сопутствующее уже не выдерживает никакой критики. Хотя графоний в недавно отремастерированной версии вполне еще сносный. После Doom Eternal, конечно, сложновато воспринимать Bioshock серьезно. Но в общем и целом, фантазия разработчиков подкупает, ибо не каждая игра сегодня способна похвастаться таким разнообразным арсеналом не только оружия, но и вспомогательных навыков будь то атака полчищами пчел, заморозка, гипноз большого папочки и прочие интересности с удовольствием в той или иной степени растасканные со временем конкурентами по цеху. А взлом камер, роботов и сейфов мини-игрой в бодрого сантехника до сих пор вызывает бурю эмоций. Если резюмировать мой очередной заход в Восторг, скажу, что нынче Bioshock уже не способна безоговорочно захватить моё внимание и доставить неописуемое удовольствие от процесса как это было раньше, хотя я готов признать, что она до сих пор остается небанальной со своим характерным геймплеем и почерком. Вот бы замутить продолжение подводных приключений с прицелом на новые технологические возможности, то я вот такое дело бы ждал, ведь потенциал у франшизы огромный и он далеко еще не исчерпан.… Expand

    Bioshock is one of the best games released on the Xbox 360. Its clever and thrilling story is a blockbuster in comparison to many of the primitive and unimaginative shooter games released around the same time. A wonderful steam-punk mix between FPS and RPG. Must have!

    An amazing game. The story, characters and the setting are all unique and interesting. Gameplay is fast and satisfying. Only downside is the hacking minigames which really slows down gameplay and is more annoying than fun and engaging.

    Какой же классный геймплей в этой игре. Ничего подобного в других играх просто не было.
    Закрученный сюжет, который раскрывается по мере прохождения и держит до конца. Геймплей и сюжет не делятся, не надоедают друг без друга (привет Death Stranding и MGS5), идут вместе до самого финала.
    Мне понравилась тогда система прокачки, крафтинга (в последующих играх её серьёзно урезали), для шутеров, не РПГ, это было здорово!
    Ну и что мне нравится в крутых играх это конечно АТМОСФЕРА, она просто великолепна, на 2007 год подобного я в играх не видел!
    Я прошел её на двух платформах и недавно купил и прошел её на PS4, жаль совсем без локализации.
    В 2010 вышел сиквел (который многим, почему то, не понравился), на мой взгляд, просто идеальный сиквел. В котором было тех же щей погуще влей + новый сюжет, что ещё можно требовать от сиквела!
    Про Infinite говорить не буду. Игра мне понравилась меньше чем 1 и 2 части.
    В прочем игра жива и сейчас, советую пройти её всем кто не видел. При том, что она бесплатно раздаётся сейчас в PS Store!    … Expand

    Truly one of my favorite games of all time and I played this game to death. Recently replayed it and found that my first impressions have not changed. Shooting mechanics and so on were nothing new, very much the same as everything other shooter out there. What sets it apart, the skills and how fun the mechanics can be with the variety of options you have to take down enemies.     As good as it gets when we are talking abut story driven FIrst person shooters! Constant story twists left and right sheik delivering some of the best gameplay of its time. The atmosphere of this game is engulfing.

Every piece of this game is encompassed in atmosphere with a story that may be one of the best in video games. Rapture is a wonderful yet tragic backdrop to the gameplay, of which is on par with games like half life 2. That said it is not perfect, aiming down sights is a bit of a mess and the camera item is not entirely balanced but overall it really holds its own.

    Even in 2019, this game is still really good. I think this is one of the more unique game i know. I really had fun in my playthrough, from beginning to end. The atmosphere is fantastic and you can approach combat in a lot of different ways. The only con is the hacking game who can get repetitive. Otherwise, I can easily recommend this game who deserves my 9/10 rating.

    This game is quite amazing to be honest, the atmosphere is very immersive and intense, the story is thought provoking, dark, and grim. The characters and dialogue are very well written, with very tense Quentin Tarantino-esque dialogue and writing, the gameplay is great as well but with some flaws, though linear, there is some exploration through the levels and moral choices in the game,This game is quite amazing to be honest, the atmosphere is very immersive and intense, the story is thought provoking, dark, and grim. The characters and dialogue are very well written, with very tense Quentin Tarantino-esque dialogue and writing, the gameplay is great as well but with some flaws, though linear, there is some exploration through the levels and moral choices in the game, plus there is an RPG-like upgrade system for your weapons, it's pretty deep and gives you freedom on what you want to upgrade, there are many ways to fight every battle, but the controls are a bit clunky as you have to switch between plasmids and weapons, speaking of plasmids, there are a variety of them from ones that freeze your enemies to ones that zap them, and the game is very long too, it took me around 15 hours to complete my first playthrough on Normal, so there is value for the dollar, if you are looking for a thought provoking, intense, and atmospheric adventure, then Bioshock is the game you're looking for, it is a masterpiece… Expand

I would say that despite iconic characters, set pieces, and chapters that you'll probably never forget, there is an ultimate discomfort and tedium, especially in the middle/latter half that make thisBioshock is intense, suspenseful, difficult, demanding, punishing, diversified, and enthralling. And to top it off, despite a timeless moment near the end of the game, the final conclusion was remarkably anti-climactic and had me scratching my head rather than with my jaw wide open (Infinite).     I honestly haven't completely 'played' this game myself, because i'm a giant baby who can't stand jumpscares while playing by myself. But! I have played enough and watch my brother and others play it enough to know I absolutely love this game. Its graphics, the atmosphere, the characters, the designs of the city, even the damn music is lovely! I just adore how this game makes you feel andI honestly haven't completely 'played' this game myself, because i'm a giant baby who can't stand jumpscares while playing by myself. But! I have played enough and watch my brother and others play it enough to know I absolutely love this game. Its graphics, the atmosphere, the characters, the designs of the city, even the damn music is lovely! I just adore how this game makes you feel and immerses you into the story and area you play in. Not to mention the story and the setting are very refreshing and new. The city of Rapture is just amazing to explore and find out new clues and background info. You get to know the city and its people and how they decide into madness and corruption. And the characters are written pretty great and enjoyable to listen to.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best of the franchise. Bioshock 1, without a doubt, is probably the best game I’ve played underwater. Great gameplay, fun interactions, gives you the chills, and sometimes can be very frightening with the great atmosphere. You play as a character who doesn’t talk one in the game and you either have the option to kill or revive (forgot what they are called) girls (it not as weird as that sounds). If you do kill them you get extra (whatever that stuff was called) and if you don’t kill them you get less (of that stuff). SPOILER: Whatever you do with them does effect the story outcome-END OF SPOILERS.

    Just to help you avoid the spoiler above, I stated a new paragraph. Anyway, tons of tons of killing that will make you tired but I’ve never been bored of this game. I kept going and going to see what happens. The games does have a boss battle that is rather easy and dumb. Im going out of order here but when you play there are people talking to you, the bad guy, good guy, and other guys that persuade you into their judgement but ignore that do what you want to do. The story is quite unpredictable which kind of makes the game a lot of fun and makes things crazy.    … Expand

    Little Sisters: Meninas geneticamente modificadas e seu objetivo é coletar ADAM,ela não atua como inimigo,porém,é uma peça fundamental para o sistema de moralidade* dentro do jogo,elas são protegidas pelos big daddy's* por conter ADAM em seu corpo,e ser alvo dos Splicers.
    E claro,o maior simbolo do jogo,que representa a capa.
    big daddy's: Só atacam se forem atacados ou ver suas "Filhas" em perigo,possui uma broca em uma de suas mãos e são extremamente resistentes,ao derrota-lo lhe da acesso a sua Little Sister,sua escolha do que fazer com ela( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) se aplica ao sistema de moralidade* que interfere diretamente no gameplay e no final do jogo,existem duas opções,Mata-la e pegar todo ADAM e ficar mais forte e consequentemente deixar o jogo mais fácil,ou liberta-la de sua condição mental,ganhando um pouco de ADAM e pequenas recompensas durante encontros com outras Little Sisters.
    Level design:Definitivamente um "immersive sim",embora seja um jogo de tiro linear,existem muitas possibilidades de como jogar,o mapa e grande e cheio de caminhos secretos,onde para acesa-los é necessário explorar e achar sua chave,por exemplo,se você não conseguir achar,não se fruste,existe outras maneiras de acessa-las,basta apenas o raciocínio do jogador para explorar as possibilidades,são muitas possibilidades e isso tudo,para conseguir acesso a uma área que não faz parte da sequência da história,explorar é totalmente imersivo,orgânico você dita o andamento do jogo.
    Mas não apenas da exploração não linear que esse jogo brilha,a narrativa é contada por registros de áudios,que agem como coletáveis,la é contada toda a história da cidade e como a sociedade ruiu,um lore fantástico e complexo.
    A visão de Andrew Ryan foi inspirada no Objetivismo,de Ayn Rand*,e Atlas(Nosso guia durante o jogo) faz referência a "A revolta de atlas" (livro de Ayn Rand*)
    A ambientação de Bioshock é encantadora,simplesmente a melhor que eu já vi em um jogo,uma cidade submersa,em uma distopia,Imersiva,com estilo art déco e luzes de neon refletindo sobre as inundações,de tirar o fôlego.

    This game has got just the right amount of creepiness to make it scary but just the right amount of features to make it truly fun to blast through enemies, The story in this game is incredible and has you wondering right till the very end. Rapture is a one of a kind environment for a game to take place and is up there with the rest of the great videogame worlds.

    Un peu de piratage de tourelles et de caméras via un mini-jeu à la con qu'on peut heureusement contourner assez vite par d'autres méthodes. A cet égard, le jeu offre toujours le choix au joueur, que ce soit dans les armes, les améliorations ou les fameux pouvoirs... on a même droit à deux fins (légèrement) différentes.

    Le jeu est toujours fluide et agréable à l'oeil, la maniabilité et l'interface sont excellentes, bref tout coule de source et tombe sous la main là où on l'attend. La carte est perfectible mais a le mérite d'être là et se révèle utile. Bien sûr, Bioshock abuse des allers et retours dans un environnement assez grand et se trâine un peu en longueur sur la fin.

    Quant à l'histoire, oui il y en a une (!), elle surprend sans faillir à certains moments-clés. Effets sonores très travaillés, doublage français irréprochable. On n'en dira pas autant de la musique absente ou dispensable ou même souvent désagréable quand elle se manifeste.

    BioShock, the original 2007 masterpiece by the once-great Ken Levine. Brilliant story, smooth gun-play, innovative mechanics, atmospheric setting, BioShock has everything you would want in a great game. If you haven't played this masterpiece, pick it up either on this gen, or on the remastered version that came out last year.

    El primer juego y este son muy buenos y es muy recomendable para jugar una historia buena ambientación muy bella no como gráficos de xbox one o ps4 pero es una pasada ,pero jueguen esa es mi experiencia.

    I played this 9 years ago and fell in absolute love. As some one who loves philosophy, psychology, and Objectivism this game was a thrill ride. It's honestly one of those you need to play it to understand.

    Bioshock it is the definition of clever and intelligence put inside a game! The only cons I have for this incredible experience is the last boss fight, pretty lame!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After all the reviews that I have done, I had ignored the fact that I didn't review this classic gem of a game before Bioshock 2 and Infinite. Let's lay this grave to rest.

    One of the great progenitors of the Xbox 360/PS3 Era, Bioshock is a wonderful, beautiful combination of all the right elements executed perfectly: A consistently compelling story and narrative; frightening, bone chilling environments that beautify and show the collapse of society through anarchy; a myriad of well functioning weapons, mechanics, tonics, and plasmids at your disposal. While Bioshock is not without it's flaws, it's one of those game that no matter how many times you play it, you can find yourself warped into the past of Rapture and it's present state, collapsed after the dependency for Adam became too much and Andrew Ryan trying desperately to hold onto the last visages of his reign over his underwater city; the mystery behind your connection with Andrew as well as the realization of you being subliminally controlled by someone who you thought was fighting on your side; endless replay value with the plasmids of which can be used at your discretion in any matter seeing, with a number of solid combinations of gunkata to eliminate your enemies, of which are inspired and menacing in perspective.

    Not only that, this game breathes the atmosphere of Rapture so evocatively that it still resonates in my mind to this day. Occassionally I still get a hankering to play this materpeice that doesn't necessarily have all the edges roughed out, but provides so much enjoyment on your part, from the gunplay, to the scenic environment inside and through out, and the overall theme and imagery of the world.

    Let me explain some of the flaws. so it is indistinct whether which weapons have ironsights or not (something that Bioshock 2 fixed, but don't consider that as it's saving grace), as well as it being awkwardly tied to the right stick. Hacking is more tedious than difficult, resolved to a pipe swapping system (although this would make sense considering that the world of Rapture is hydro-electrically powered). As for plasmids, while all have their uses, electro bolt will be your most useful as, once again, everything is powered hydro electrically. Not only that, most security systems, such as scanner towers and turrets can be stunned with electro bolt (although I have heard word that using frost bolt can make the flow of water in the hacking pipes much slower), as well as most enemies being stunned in the process. Incinerate! will be second useful, but it gets outcasted by the fact that water practically surrounds you in everywhere that doesn't have a proper water seal on the interior, so enemies are inevitably going to seek to douse themselves out.

    One big part of the narrative that I still have a problem with is the realization that Atlas is actually Frank Fontaine in disguise; you go and confront him and it becomes essentially a big boss battle against an oversized gorilla infused with adam. It's a bit of a clunky final setup that doesn't match near the intensity of reaching Andrew, whom is menacing in his approach, is shown with the sympathy of a man who tried to build his own destiny, having to watch it all fall apart because of circumstances beyond his own control. It's one of the few times that, despite all the obstacles he laid out for me to get to this point, makes me sympathetic of his plights of success, one of the few sympathetic antagonists who doesn't do evil things to do evil things. As for Frank Fontaine, he is as atypical of a antagonist can get, so having him be the final boss inexplicably didn't make much sense as a narrative highlight. Nevertheless, it is nice to have closure with the person who made you unknowingly suited his own agenda, and not without a bit of a morality side to it. Although it is somewhat grey, it basically comes down to 'if I don't get adam, i have to kill girls to get more adam' method; as long as you look for all the secrets, you can keep being a goody good good guy. So it's the dishonored trope that you really can't play your way unless get a pang of guilt for doing so.

    All in all, this game will be one of the big staples of which any post-utopian nightmare environment will be lived up to, and while it isn't necessarily one of the flagship titles for the release of the 360, Bioshock will be brought down as one of the finest Xbox 360 games, hell, one of the prime games of this decade the likes of Half Life or The Last of Us.    … Expand

    This games environment,story and gameplay still holds up to today and still give that refreshing and original feeling. I found the most joy in the progression in the game as I upgraded my weapons and ability's. Although the game is amazing, it is not perfect with the biggest concern being the difficulty.     In my opinion this is one of the top 5 games ever made. It's got the best style, atmosphere and story of any game every made, hands down. It's creepy but never jump scares you. It's absolutely brilliant.

    This game is a true example of how a shooter video game should be. I think it will go down as a timeless classic, rivaled only by legendary fps games like Half life 2. Super original, weird & immersive, I love this sh*t. Not a 10/10 though, as I always look for replay-ability in games as a strength, & this fails in that department.

    Original and refreshing, has an amazing storyline aswell as an amazing atmosphere and setting. Enjoyable combat, maybe a little bit repetitive for some, the game paces well too.

    In a nutshell, beyond any shadow of doubt, BioShock is an excellent single-player shooter experience. The undeniable quality of this title and its emphasis on true and not pseudo-mature storytelling and character development make it a must-have for every self-respecting gamer.

    Its weak link is its unsatisfying no-skill-required combat, which might aim this one just over the head of the average Halo fan. But if you want to get a little fancy, there's a lot of fun to be had with some of the game's more indirect fighting methods. It builds an amazing atmosphere by using terrific graphics and sound to set a creepy mood. But BioShock's real strengths are as a compelling work of interactive fiction, and as a unique ride through a warped world with some great payoff built into its mysterious plot. If that description has you even the least bit interested, you won't be disappointed one bit.
