That said, I enjoyed this game far more than anything else I've played this year, and it is much better than the sum of it's parts, definite game of the year contender.

I am honestly speechless. Bioshock Infinite is one of the best video games I have played in the last decade. It has the greatest video game storyline I have probably ever played with complex twists and turns that will make your mind melt. I've been a part of the Bioshock since the first game back in 2007, and it was so revolutionary, I thought nothing could compete with it. Three years later, Bioshock 2 was released and I was disappointed with its short run through time and weak plot. Two years later Bioshock Infinite was shown at E3 and people were informed that it would take place in a different setting with a different storyline and usually in a series, whether it be movies, TV, or games, is usually not a great sign of the product being good. When Bioshock Infinite finally released this year, I was instantly blown away, the actions and gameplay mechanics were so great that I was almost in tears, it had so many cool aspects to it, it felt so good as if someone was throwing free money at you. My hands were shaking the entire playthrough with happiness. By the time I finished the game the storyline had already made my brain explode into 1,000 pieces and I was honestly crying that I had to finish such an amazing game that doesn't come around often. Bioshock Infinite isn't just a game, It's a living, breathing experience.

bioshock infinite is a great example of phenomenal game and it will be mentioned till the next one comes out. awesome gameplay, compelling story and not bad graphics either and this would be an experience everyone would enjoy, except COD fans of course they just wont bother. P.S the two gun limit is because of how many guns there are so stop complaining about it people.

In the first game, the powers and the gunplay flow naturally from the dark and edgy environment, and the gameplay comments on and expands the ideas laced throughout the environment. Here, though, the powers and gunplay, while extremely well designed and implemented, don't flow from the environment. It's like the gameplay and the environment coexist but don't interact. Some professional reviewers have commented that the violence is actually a distraction from the environment, and I agree. Doesn't mean it's not a fascinating a highly enjoyable game, but don't expect the emotional whomp of the first Bioshock. Expand

Peculiar style of game. This reason makes this game even better. Visual is vintage mixed with modernity and kinda beautiful. Story is well-elaborated and funny, as playing this game. Linearity is flowing and works very well. A fair final to serie, even for who didn't play the another two previous games. An amazing mix of sci-fi, first-person-shooter and breathtaking visual.

Being a fan of the claustrophobic settings of the previous games, I was very dissapointed with the sudden transition to such a large environment, I enjoyed the older games better (just my opinion) the game did excell in gameplay and story, but it just wasn't my kind of bioshock.

Although the gameplay is quite similar to the first Bioshocks in terms of essentially being a shooter whilst giving the player various powers (vigors or plasmids), Bioshock Infinite appealed a lot more to me due to its world and the vibe that naturally comes along with it. In the original Bioshock we went into a lighthouse which took us to a wonderful and claustrophobic underwater world. In Bioshock Infinite we go up instead of down and one of the many amazing moments of this game is the first time when you set foot and discover that bright, seemingly peaceful place in the sky. You immediately get the feeling that something is off, which is up to the player to discover in the rest of the brilliant single player campaign which will make your jaw drop at the end! I also liked that the main hero had a voice this time, compared to the earlier parts, which immerses you more into the game. Finally, a special mention has to go out to Elizabeth who, like many others have already said, is one of the best videogame characters ever written!

Bioshock Infinite is one of the few games where I was disappointed to have finished the campaign so quickly, simply because I wanted to enjoy the world and story a bit longer. The game has made a unforgettable impression on me and is an instant classic!

This game is a masterpiece, it can't be said any other way. Irrational Games has created another amazing world for us to dive into and explore its deepest secrets. Combat is varied enough with the help of vigors. Buy lots of ammo as their is lots of combat.

Only real negative is some of the objectives in the mission dont seem to exciting.

It's honestly better than some movies out there, the idea is THAT good. Some of the enemies you will encounter seem a bit unnecessary, mostly the bosses, and aren't as interesting as they were in the first two, but it doesn't affect the game or matter much, considering how awesome and amazing the rest of it is.

The gameplay is more the same but you can't complain (apart from the massive leap in difficulty when you meet the handymen) however this time the creepy atmosphere is within an almost Disneyesque world set in the clouds made up of the same standard of artwork that was put into Rapture. The story is fantastic, the end had me thinking for two days, piecing together all the things I had seen while playing the game and seeing them in a different light after the final twist and immediately wanted to play through again and it felt like a different game when you are looking for the significance of the answers rather than just the answers you found in the first play through but in the first play through you don't know the questions till after the twist. The characters are just as colourful as the original while at the same time not kissing it's ass by copy and pasting the villain structure. This game is a must buy. Expand

Bioshock Infinite has received countless awards and more ten out of ten's than I can count. However, that does not make those true.

This game a good story. Yes, good, not amazing, not life changing, but good. With no spoilers the game lasts for what seems like forever to give you just a good ending which is unacceptable. With the build up and lore of Columbia you expect a fluid, amazing ending but it fails to deliver.

The combat is terrible. The combat has resorted to the "Call of Duty Syndrome" of releasing an onslaught of enemies on you for you to kill. When that said "wave" of enemies is defeated you progress a little forward, then another wave of enemies is there for your disposal. Repeat.
There are some sections of the game that get extremely tedious in which you have a "boss" to kill while grunts are attacking you while the "boss" is reviving the grunts you have previously killed. This is just there to pad the game...

The mechanics you have known to love like different weapons, upgrading your weapons, hacking, vigors (formerly known as plasmids) have been reduced to an extremely basic state. The weapons have basically been doubled however, you can only hold two. Going from holding eight unique weapons with a different type of approach and feel to two similar, watered down guns ready to pump out ammo.
    Hacking is gone. Just gone.
There are eight vigors and those too feel alike in use. The only one I had fun with was Undertow but all the others basically are auto kill or distraction.
Upgrading your weapon is useless almost. The chance of you keeping the same two guns throughout the game are very slim because with all the enemies you go through ammo like crazy. So you have to pick up other guns that your enemies drop so when you upgrade Sniper Rifle all the way then have to switch guns makes all that money you spend go to waste.

What does the game do well besides a good story? The graphics! I am not one to praise/fault graphics unless they enhance the experience or hinder it. This game looks gorgeous and I mean that. When you shoot up into the sky at the beginning of the game and take that first glimpse of Columbia, well its breathtaking to say the least.

Is the game worth picking up? Not really. Just a generic FPS with amazing visuals.

The gameplay gets pretty dull and has the same issues that previous Bioshock games had. They don't throw many unique scenarios at you and would rather just throw more and more enemies at you.

    Warning: Spoilers
Bring us the girl, wipe away the debt is what Booker Dewitt (Troy Baker) has to do in the newest BioShock game. Set in 1912 during the growth of American exceptionalism, former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, is sent to the floating air-city of Columbia to find that young woman known as Elizabeth (Courtnee Draper), who has been held incarcerated there for most of her life in a life style bird cage, protected by a mysterious creature known as Songbird. Though Booker rescues Elizabeth, the two are pursued by the city's warring factions: the nativist and elite Founders leaded by Prophet Zackary Comstock (Kiff VandenHeuvel) that strive to keep the city for pure Americans from their view as un-American, and the Vox Populi, a rebel group lead by Daisy Fitzroy (Kimberly Brooks) representing the minorities. Booker finds Elizabeth to be central to this conflict, and learns that she possesses extraordinary powers to manipulate rifts in the space-time continuum that wreak havoc on Columbia. The City in the Sky leave the depths of Rapture to soar among the clouds. The flying city is a beautiful and vibrant world that holds a very dark secret. It is found by the beliefs of Christianity and the worship of the Founding Fathers as religious figures, while also a police state that enforced racist and sexist attitudes on its citizens. Yes, the game has some racism, but its story is based on 1912 where racism was in its prime. This game isn't for the young gamer, but for mature audience anyways. It' a new world, way different to the damp, dark and Claustrophobia area. While the game doesn't offer free range gaming, and often limited. It's in rich with beautiful colors, details, and Easter eggs. Example: The Barbershop version of "God Only Knows". I miss Barbershop quartets. I love the steam punk, and Harry Turtledove feel to the game. To understand more about the story, I think it's very important for the player is able to locate audio logs, Voxophones and film projectors Kinetoscopes so that they will expand on the history of Columbia beyond those events occurring within the game. The player controls Booker throughout the game, eventually working with the AI-controlled Elizabeth. Having Elizabeth around, doesn't feel like an escort mission, you don't have to protect her, and she is very helpful as she gathers up money, vigors, and ammos for you. She also can unlocked doors and use her power to help fight hostile forces. Elizabeth felt like a Disney like character and works against Booker's grim appearance. Like previous BioShock games, the player uses a combination of weapons, gears, and psychokinetic powers granted through vigors. You can played on normal (easy, normal, and hard). All of them are a great challenge, but never to too frustrating. Enemies such as Handy Men, Patriots, and Sirens will make this game interesting. If not, there is the sky-line. A roller coaster, type ride for the player. There is also a 1999 mode will make you a pro and change the dynamics of the game. The faults of the game are that there are no altering endings like the previous Bio Shock's games. At the end of the game you realize why your choices don't matter, this was done purposely. This is why everyone should accept why there aren't any alternate endings. Still, it would be awesome to have a choice. If there's one thing we learned from this game is that in life you may have a limited amount of choice, but the potential outcomes are infinite. The game is less open and mazy. I wished this Songbird was also a boss instead of just a cut scene. The two weapon limit. The battles like the last battle needed better design. I couldn't really get a chance to buy all the upgrades I want and there is not a New Game+. The Vigors could've used more buff. Last, there weren't any puzzles or problem solving areas like the other Bio Shock's games. Still, the game is amazing and kick-ass but I don't see a sequel for it. Not because it's bad, no way is BioShock Infinite a bad game. So far it's one of the best games I've played in 2013. But unlike the last two BioShock games which even when you escaped from Rapture the city is still down there, and there's possible sequels for it. But the ending for Infinite, mind blowing ending by the way and the way it's told doesn't feel like it's setting up for a sequel if you know what I mean. Absolutely fantastic game! It's already become one of my all-time favorite games. It's a fun gameplay and having pleasing visuals. So give it a try. Game on, my fellow gamers.

This game unintelligently tries to force other First Person Shooter trends and mechanics into it and it just weakens what already existed in prior Bioshock games, while not in anyway capturing the feel of the games they’re trying to imitate.
I tried to finish this game, I really did. I spent hours in it and was probably about 70% through. But good god is the combat atrocious in this game. And it was never “incredible” in the other games but there were many satisfying mechanics none the less. In this game the upgrades are so basic and boring it’s as if all the RPG elements have been removed.
Anyway, boo. Uninstalling it from my Xbox One now.

Bioshock Infinite is my least favorite of the Bioshock Trilogy. And that really comes down to the gameplay which I feel is a real step down from Bioshock 1 and 2. While 1 is pretty stiff in how it controls I still think the gameplay is more satisfying and I'm not a big fan of the change to only carrying 2 weapons in this game. While 1 is pretty stiff in how it controls I still think the gameplay is more satisfying and I'm not a big fan of the change to only carrying 2 weapons in this game. Because I can only carry two weapons I didn't feel much need to upgrade a lot of the weapons seeing as who knows when I might get that gun back or how much Ill use it not to mention it doesn't really change the gun much other then it's stats basically. Which isn't as fun as in the other games where visually they'd change and you could get some more wacky upgrades potentially. And the weapons themselves feel more like your standard shooter afair no weird weapons like a drill or harpoon gun which is kind of disappointing. I'm also not a big fan of the vigor's which replaced the plasmids. Not only is there purpose in the narrative really not important or explained very much in the the main story but they also don't feel as memorable or useful in this game.

The general flow of gameplay in general feels a lot more like every other shooter. What I mean is that in the first two games you'd explore rapture and the enemy's you faced weren't really looking for you all the time you'd sort of walk in on people and a times you could avoid them. In this one combat encounters happen in big rooms typically with a large group of enemy's waiting for you so the game is taking you along from one big enemy encounter to the next. Enemy types are fine for the most part but with out big daddies the game lacks an enemy with the same risk and reward system that they provided. And so instead they just have a few bigger and more bullet spongy enemy types. The handy man being my pick for the worst Bioshock enemy not only feeling kinda out of place to me but also being just really annoying to fight with there big size and tendency to get right in your face. This all connects with the setting and atmosphere which I'm personally just not as big a fan of. I do like the look and feel of the floating city of Colombia when your just walking around and seeing people live there lives. But it's just not as interesting as Raptures glorious city turned nightmare for me. Granted I am a big fan of horror and horror themed settings so that definitely plays a role.

Now what I did really love was the story which kept me going through the game. While it's defiantly a departure from the other games focus on more "grounded" concepts and messages about capitalism and socialism. But the story while maybe a bit over complicated is really good. The character you play as Booker is an actual character who speaks and has his own opinions unlike the other games which makes him more interesting although it makes it harder for the player to actually feel like were in his shoes. Elizabeth is a great character and as an AI companion she's really helpful giving you salts, health and ammo all the time and only ever got in my way once. Although I feel part of that I felt was to compensate for the lost of being able to carry multiple health packs and eve syringes to replenish yourself at any time which is a change I'm also not a fan of.

I know I've complained a lot in this writing but I do genuinely still think this game is good and worth playing. It's just when compared to it's predecessors I feel it made a lot of miss steps or steps backwards in a lot of departments. And that the game made some rather strange changes that I felt weren't necessary that resulted in the game play feeling a lot like every other game in the genera and so lost some of what was special. But what the game losses in gameplay it makes for most of it in it's story and characters.

While Bioshock Infinite is a solid game, it lacks so many great things. The Gameplay is so short and linear and does not want you to explore and the sandbox elements are really lackluster and useless you will find yourself using just one or two type of guns most of the Gameplay, but the story is great and the ending is way better that Bioshock 1 and 2's endings.

Fuzzy-headed narrative and thematically irrelevant auxiliary mechanics make Infinite feel sloppy even when it's working. Combat increases in frequency and decreases in impact after the Hall of Heroes, so for most of its length the game sinks towards a deflated ending rather than rising towards a climax. However, that slow descent starts from a great height, so there is still much to value in Infinite even as it drowns in its own shortcomings.
