It's a shame this version never got a professional review score metacritic as it deserves being highlighted as a completely separate entity.
Thoroughly enjoyed this game and can't quite believe just how much kadokawa butchered the wii u version.

I love this game. It's disappointing that they brought this game down because of the mediocre Wii U and 3DS ports. The Wii version is a beautiful game in the vein of Yuji Naka's past games such as Nights into Dreams and Sonic the Hedgehog.

I like this game, it's far from perfect but it is certainly unique and I'm glad to have experienced it. The problem is, it's not always easy to see where you're going and the camera control is bad, you have to point at the edge of the screen to turn the camera but it's not as responsive as it should be and it tends to slow down the action considerably. I would have much rather used the Nunchuck to control the camera but this was not an option. The game can also be a bit repetitive, each level generally follows the same routine, you traverse several floating islands while attacking a limited variety of enemies but every level still managed to be fun. I also found the boss fights to be very engaging and entertaining. Expand

It is an amazing game. Rodea is made by Yuki Naka (Creator of Sonic). it feels like Sonic and Nights. It's just a complete shame how this game was held back for about four years and the wii u version really brought down the wii version. The controls for it feel great speaking that it only uses the wii remote only.

This is a game that I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who is fan of the

This is a game that I HIGHLY recommend to anyone who is fan of the Dreamcast era, gamers who like fast paced games, and even people who want to try something new. Be sure to get as soon as possible because this game is going to extremely rare sometime soon.

What a fun game! I enjoyed the story and Yuji Naka continues to make great games. He is the man behind Sonic the Hedgehog's early years and of Nights into Dreams.

Even though it arrives a few years late, at least we have the opportunity to try this version of the game, which clearly is the "good one". Everything makes sense on Wii, and even though it feels a little bit outdated, it still is interesting and fun for those who know the game they're buying.

Rodea the Sky Soldier proved it could soar on the Wii; it is just a shame that it will be doomed to obscurity.

My advice? Buy Rodea the Sky Soldier for Wii U, toss the Wii U disc into a nearby sewage canal, pop the Wii disc into your machine and let 'er spin! [Issue #18 – November/December 2015, p.73]
