Without wishing to sound like the kind of grumpy gamer you’d expect to object to this harmless update, Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! is a classic case of “if it isn’t broken, don’t try to fix it.”

A pale shadow of the original turning a perfectly constructed platformer into a bland retread.

On the gameplay side of things, Rainbow Islands: Towering Adventure! is a fair conversion of the arcade original Rainbow Islands' game design for WiiWare -- so the handful of fans who've loved that game since the '80s will no doubt be delighted to see the series making a comeback today.
