The fan in me loves this. Great move sets to beat up enemies, epic boss battles, a unique level raising system, and it is fun. The game however gets repetitive quick with too much fetch questing, level grinding, and a bare bones two player option but overall it's a fun game. Although monotonous it can be enjoyed.

I really haven't played too many anime-based games. That may be because a vast majority of them are sub-par. Not all of them, of course, just most. However, in 2006, One Piece was still being dubbed by 4Kids, so I was conflicted as of the fate of a US release. As of late, FUNimation has gotten the US rights to One Piece, and one of the first things they did was announce a US release date for an English dubbed version of Unlimited Adventure. Which is one of many things this game got right, it uses FUNimation's new voice cast, and they sound great. A fan of the new dub (which began airing on Toonami in September 2007) will instantly notice the characters voices. Not only do the dub actors voice their respective characters (quite nicely I must add), they also both re-voice characters that appeared in the 4Kids dub, and characters that haven't appeared in the US dub at all. Gameplay-wise, the game is pretty fun. Each of the eight Straw Hat Pirates start out with only one or two attacks, but quickly gain new ones as they progress. Motion-control is used for things like fishing and bug-catching, but also some special attacks as well. It might get repetitive to use the same attacks again and again, and starting out with only one or two attacks might end up with you taking a little bit of damage early on. The levels, while not overly massive, are still pretty big, and it can get somewhat easy to get lost. You do find maps, but you might get lost a few times before you do. And one flaw with the big levels is that you cannot save in them, and must find your way back to your "camp" in order to heal and save. It'll get annoying, especially if you urgently have to stop playing. I might be biased, but I like Unlimited Adventure. Check it out if you're a fan of the show. And if you aren't, it's still worth a look, at least. Expand

I love the One piece series. My answer might be biased but this game was very enjoyable. The leveling system was interesting and the boss fights were great. The story is a little silly though.

I liked One Piece and I really enjoyed this game, the mix of exploration, construction, fighting ... The title definitely does not lie, it's an adventure on its own. You can catch bugs or other animals, catch fish, cook food, develop items and fight a horde of enemies and characters from the One Piece universe that you love and enjoy. It's really fun to play and I couldn't stop playing once I started, basically it's all just grinding, but for some reasons, I found it really fun. I loved to explore the game, build new tools to progress further and complete the animal encyclopedias.
My favorite thing about this game are probably the boss battles which are really hard and you feel so much accomplishment once you beat certain bosses.

This game captures every aspect that makes One Piece great. New original island with lots of exploration.

The game has an amazing crafting system and combat. You really feel your on an adventure with the straw-hats pirates!

I feel like this game has been inspired by the Zelda games.

As promising as this Lost-meets-Animal Crossing premise sounds, however, the game as a whole becomes a bit tedious. [Feb 2008, p.87]

Frame-rate issues, unimaginative combat and adventure gameplay, and multiplayer that sags leaves Unlimited Adventure in the position of not quite being able to compete with the One Piece games of the last generation.
  3. If you don't love One Piece, you won't like this game. If you love One Piece, you will. It's really that simple. For fans of the series, this is the best One Piece game yet. For others, it's decent, but nothing great.
