    I mean c'mon this MarioParty has to be extremely awsome. I mean its on the wii, The coolest system EVER. I mean 6! new extreme boards! Billion Kajillion new minigames! and like 14 Characters! All for the wii remote! The Last thing i can say is that this game is Number ONE

    Awesome as ever. Get some friends, some drinks, and have a party. Not for the geekiest gamer, there's not a lot of challenge, single player sucks, moving around the board is entirely based on luck, etc.etc. Playing this alone would be only slightly better than playing Monopoly solo. It's a friggin party! Get some friends who you can stand to have around your stuff and who make Awesome as ever. Get some friends, some drinks, and have a party. Not for the geekiest gamer, there's not a lot of challenge, single player sucks, moving around the board is entirely based on luck, etc.etc. Playing this alone would be only slightly better than playing Monopoly solo. It's a friggin party! Get some friends who you can stand to have around your stuff and who make you laugh, then play. Trust me, it's fun.     This game rules. The low reviews made me a bit skeptical. But, after bringing the game home and playing it with the family - I'm sold. This is the best family game on the Wii. We also do multi-player with MonkeyBall, Sports, SSX Blur, and Sonic - but this blows them all away. If you want a great 4 player, multi-player experience - this game is it.     If you have friends over, you can;t go wrong. 70+ mini-games, great wiimote/nunchaku use, and, best of all, coin-sucking vampires. Need I say more?

    This is actually my second favourite Mario party after Mario party 2... I loved the boards (especially King Boo's board), the story mode was fun as hell, and even the mini games were pretty decent. The most fun is definitely playing with friends.

    The peak of man's creation lies within this game it's Mario Party but with PERFECT motion controls implemented into it, you can play as Waluigi in it and the ugly micro Bowser is gone for good, the mini games are top tier and the boards are amazing!

    This is literally my most favorite Mario Party game. The minigames are funny and the Party Maps are pretty fun to navigate. My most favorite minigame from there was called Cardiator and that 1 vs 3 minigame where you have to block a player that’s on a skateboard from skating in the road. The gameplay is very good as well.     This game is Great. This game deserves a ten. Only if they didnt have the random frame. But after a while you get used to it. The mini-games are also the best so far, and the Boards are crazy!

Don't bother wasting your time on complaints because different people like different types of games- and for those who dont like this one fine. Be happy with what yo've got, not what u can get. (The only stupid thing is that the credits last forever and you can't skip them. But hey, at least they are entertaining- unlike most games.)… Expand

But if you want to play like this, you can! That's the beauty of it. You can costumize the party to your gaming pleasure, even Tag-Team Battles (Board-Game-Wise) are possible. Graphics are terrific, others may insult them but that may be due to a slightly broken Wii (It may be damaged) or a rubbish TV. I have a 47 inch widescreen HD Philips flat screen.     There is a lot of strategy and planning, but generally, you will get an advantage by winning a lot of mini games.

    It is BS to call this game bad, and say it is solely based on luck.

    This game is awesome and so underrated! One of my first Wii games. The minigames are very fun. The graphics are good. The party mode is great. I really liked the fun bazaar and extras. Mario Party 8 one of my favourite Mario Party games and if you don't like MP8, you're silly as JB. You should definitely go and buy it.

    This game is friggin awesome. It was my first Wii Game and I conquered the whole game because it was that awesome and if you don't like MP8 you are silly as Justin Bieber. Why the heck is this game is under rated? WHY?! I love the Fun Bazzar,Minigame tent,and the maps are epic. The lucky space is my all time favourite spot to land on. I know it is 2015 but I recommend you pick it up.

    I really don't get why Mario Party 8 got a bad rap. It's a great game, the mini games and boards are unique, and the game is overall a blast on multiplayer, but eh on single-player (literally every Mario Party). Overall, I think this is underrated and deserves more love. 9/10

    Easily the peak of the Mario party franchise. Nintendo knocked it out of the park for this one. They fixed the controls and they tweaked the story and I really think this is the most important thing. It’s not often Nintendo reverts their mistakes, but Mario party 8 got the franchise back on track for a glorious near masterpiece.

    I bought this game never really having played its predecessors and me and my wife love it. Playability is the downside... though this is probably due to the fact that we dont have kids or parties... so its just me and her and normally two of the hardest CPU players. Overall we love the minigames, though some are annoying and the games are normally to long.     I don't understand why there is so much harsh feedback about this game. I feel it fits the Wii perfectly. A lot of people said brought nothing new to system compared to games we've all played already like Smooth Moves or Rayman but no offense to anyone there is only so much you can do with that Remote, the system isn't limitless. Overall it would be nice to have more games even if some were similar or derivatives of each other. Game play is a bit long a "standard" game of 15 turns takes about 1.5 hours, this is not A fun game to play with 2-4 people. Best with 4 really. I would agree that there is a high degree of randomness to it but i think that is part of the fun who wants to playa game for 1-2 hours if they already know who is good and going to win. If you are more "hard-core" switch off the bonus stars and play on the Tycoon board it requires the most strategy and rewards those who win mini-games the most. Overall fun game with friends with a good replay value, but not in any way a "ahrd-core" game.… Expand

    It's fun every now and then.I would play it with friends but not by myself as no Mario Party is fun by yourself that's why it's called Mario Party.Sure they kept the GC graphics for this game and the gameplay has sort of been weakened through repitition.This isn't my favorite Mario Party game cuz
    my fav ones are Mario Party 2+7.

For all you hard core gamers out there who dislike all party games and only enjoy FPS's or RPG's then don't rate this game bad.     It 's a fun game in the series that uses the motion remote. There a many kind of candy during the game. And the boards are all different. With the Koopa hotel one standing out because of it unique gameplay. There a even three single player games.

    I don't know why so many people dislike this game, I love the minigames, every board is unique and the music is amazing. Even if single player gets boring try very hard mode once you unlock it and you'll get a challenge. This game should have been in the Wii launch games since it does an amazing job showing what the Wii can do.

    It actually upsets me quite a bit that Mario party 9 has a higher rating than Mario party 8. In my opinion, mario party 8 was the last good mario party and there are plenty of reasons why. This was the last game where they actually had original mario party rules, you had stars and you bought those with coins, and you could also steal or swap stars. After mario party 8 they started doing stuff like putting everyone in a big cart so that the turns would go faster, they stopped doing minigames every round, they got rid of stars and coins, they ruined the game. They made it no longer fun, no longer frustrating, nothing that made mario party so amazing. Mario party 8 wasn't perfect and motion controls aren't always something I prefer to play with but it is fun to play with friends. I know Nintendo can do better than the last few mario partys that they have released, I know they can make one fun one for the switch. That's all I want. The maps in 8 were good, they weren't perfect either but they were better than just a figure eight like they have in mario party top 100 which makes every player move at the same time. Mario party wasn't that fast but there is no reason to slow it down because people enjoyed it. They had one of the greatest franchises ever and they are just throwing it away. It isn't too late but they need to get their act together soon before they just lose their mario party fans altogether… Expand

    Gotta admit right now, this game was lackluster I mean REALLY lackluster. And some minigames are really impossible to play like FLIP THE CHIMP THE WORSE MINIGAME EVER, Kartashprohe, and Bombs Away. The characters are a good part added and some of the minigames are great so I would go with the game is decent.

    I know some people do not like this game and I can see why, the wii mechanic should never really touch Mario Party and the game is getting a little repetitive. But still I love this game cause its a plain simple Mario Party game! No crazy mechanics, except the motion controls, its just a basic mario party games that does have some flaws but is fun either way!

    perfect game but the boards are 10-20 mins long and even if you have like 3 stars in the end of the board you will always loose coz you need to be a lucky person to get some of the bonus stars and win

Most of them use the motion controls but there are some very good button minigames as well. The character selection is the best besides Super Mario Party, with everyone from the previous game returning and adding Blooper, who was a funny choice, and Hammer Bro. As for the boards, most of them are just decent, but then there is my favourite board of all time, Koopa’s Tycoon Town, where you invest coins into hotels to get stars, and you can steal hotels from others if you invest more coins than they do! There are a lot of extra modes which adds replayability. The orbs have been replaced with candy items which are just as fun to use. While Mario Parties 9 and 10 deserve the excessive criticism they get, this one absolutely does not! It’s a blast to play and a very solid entry in the franchise.… Expand

    It has a best use of motion control, but to be honest I still feel like playing gamecube game due to 4:3 aspect ratio and gamecube resolution. Even boards feel like they are just remake from mario party 7, they have a good quality(Koopa tycoon tower for example) In conclusion, if hudson worked more in it, it could be a true masterpiece

    Why do people pretend like this is an affront to humanity? It's far from the case and provides the best multiplayer experience I've had in a Mario Party for a while. I recommend this to almost anyone who won't have a stroke over motion controls and being similar to Mario Party 7 in graphics.

The characters are great, the music is so good, the modes are 50/50 in terms of if they work, but if they work, they are fantastic. At first glance this should be the worst MP made till that moment, but the fun there is to be held, the modes you can play, the characters you can choose play as just makes it up for me big time with everything that is wrong. Yes, you will be frustrated because it sometimes just doesnt make sense, but is such a good MP in terms of what a MP should be and you are going to have great fun with this game, it is also by far the best MP on the wii dont talk to me about that… Expand

    The Mario Party series continues with Mario Party 8. While the graphics are not impressive, the party games are. Adding motion control to the games does add some variety.

    This game has fun party mode the mini games are so exciting but can be boring to unlock. The mini games are the best part of the game. There are heaps of really cool characters. I play this with my little brother and we both enjoy it.

    Playing the game without friends is well, meh. But get some friends to come over, and this game becomes exponentially more fun. Boring single-player, but the multiplayer is enough to make you consider buying this game.

    You wonder whether this is a good idea for getting subs or LOSING THEM.
    Overall a pretty aggravating game that I have only given a higher rating than a 6 to show that I'm not just hating Mario Party for the sake of hating Mario or Parties its just that other games make for better parties I find than this game.

    This was the last decent Mario Party. It was alright some of it was boring but overall it was a decent experience. Yes computer play sucks but if you have friends you'll have a blast!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As expected from the Mario Party series, the game consists of Mario Party boards and minigames as well. But what stands out from this generic expectation is that the graphic designs are a major improvement from it's predecessors. Some graphics may be blur but is compensated by a sheer and lively background music that is considered as quite "catchy".

    The story is still generic, majority of the minigames and some other game options and selections in the game are not enjoyable and is like it was just added to include some functionality for the game which is in my opinion, is not necessary to be included.

    At least they manage to pull of wonderful board games with satisfying results along the way. I enjoyed the most in these board games is the "Koopa's Tycoon Town" board game because it resembles just like monopoly and seeing that you can buy those luxurious hotels makes you feel quite satisfied, enjoyed, and competitive that you can afford those fancy properties. That board game makes you care about those gold coins that are now look like valuable tokens that must be earned immediately.

    Overall, the game is still a decent Mario Party installment. Just enjoy the great board games and you can still have a wonderful time here. In my opinion, some minigames and other game options are boring and makes you think that "should it not be added, because it is not a necessity and quite ruins the game, overall".

    Despite the motion controls being very clunky for many minigames, the boards are not that bad, and the candy gimmicks are quite original. The best feature is hands down the Characters Roster. I mean, you can play as Martelkoopa!

    Mario Party 8 is the most recent Mario Party that's actually good (mario party 9 crappy gameplay). I enjoyed playing as hammer bro and blooper, but thought that the star carnival was very hard. Too many minigames were luck based. The pace was also too slow.

    I like the Mario Party formula, but they really aren't putting any effort into these anymore. The only thing new is how the mini games use the motion sensor now, but it's not that well done. Every other Mario Party I've played has been better than this one (3, 4, 5, and 7).

Following the success comes Mario Party 8, which is a huge disappointment and a waste of time. It's all about luck. If you are in dead last with only 1 or 2 more turns, it's possible to jump all the way to 1st place and vice versa. That sucks.     Its a good compilation of mini games that has a rather descent story mode and a fun multi-player experience. Using the Wii Remote adds in a small factor of motion game that could have been taken to another level.

    One thing that makes it enjoyable to play at is the board games but for the rest, they are dull and unenjoyable. The soundtrack is okay, the graphics are top-notched but the story is weak and cliche-ridden from other Mario game.

    The boards in this game are actually pretty cool, although there are only 6 of them including the unlockable Bowser board. The downfall of this game is that none of the minigames are any fun. The N64 Mario Parties are way better than this. Mario Party 8 has no minigames that I really like or look forward to or am excited about when they get drawn from the hat.

Some elements were okay, but I strongly disliked the fact you had to either buy the mini-games with your tickets or play the boards countless times to see all of them. After you earn all of them, the game has a little more thrill. Having a friend really upped the ante for the amount of fun, but all-in-all, not that great.

    This game just doesn't hold up and isn't very good. The maps are unique and fun enough, but this game has it's downfall with the minigames. Over motion control reliant, once you've played a couple of them, you've played them all.

    Mario Party 8 is a major disappointment. The minigames are simple and fun, especially when theres split screen multiplayer, but the series never really improved on it's flaws. The board game is luck based, requiring no skill at all. While it may seem like a perfect opportunity for anybody to jump in, it's moreso a waste of time. Any system which rewards failure and punishes Mario Party 8 is a major disappointment. The audiovisuals would have been acceptable 3-4 years ago, but in current standards, they are awful. I see little ways that this game has improved upon Mario Party 7 and even Mario Party 4. Most of the minigames you missed from the old games didn't come back. Nintendo put a very little amount of effort into this game. The final product shows.… Expand

    I tried to like this game, i really did. But it's impossible. It's ironic, the creators of the mario party series promised new boards, minigames, characters and much more everygame. But it's exactly that premise that makes this version worse. They messed up the beloved formula by adding on to much things. I liked when we had regular items and now there's candy!? The boards used to be so cool and large... now they're straight and tiny. The single player game is terrible! It's not 4 players playing. It's 2 players playing. With barely any minigames. The only reason I gave this game a 4 was because the minigames. They use the intuitive wii remote to create fun to play minigames. But since you have to play through the dreadful game to get the minigames it's kind of a pain. I don't reccomend this game. :(… Expand

It's either two sensitive or to stiff, there's no in-between. I litteraly was doing a dance from Elite Beat Agents (Makes no differnce) and I beat the AI. I'm not kidding. Speaking of AI why is hard mode like playing with a 8-year old? However this game has a strange appeal to it that sucks you in and you can't get rid of the game. It's like quicksand. This game was desinged for little kids who think they have a cool game but get ripped off after playing it. One last thing I would like to add is, why is the game so slow? It took me two days to finish a 50 turn game and almost half an hour to finish a ten turn game! Then they give you the option to buy these figures of characters in the game. Why though, to show that you had enough patience to play through this game so can look at these action figues? I don't think so.… Expand

    Looks promising, but other than the mini-games, the wii-mote doesn't come into play other than deciding how many spaces you move on the board. The mini-games were too difficult to figure out in time to actually do them, and the computer players get unfair advantages over human players...every outcome is by totally random luck!

    The graphics are poor, and no widescreen. The minigames are rehashes of old ones, often same game with slapped on controls. The boards introduce little if any changes, cosmetic or otherwise. Very poor "minigame game" in an already crowded market (3-4 of these collections in 6 months). Overall definitely pass on it, not really even worth renting if you own any of the older ones.

    Eight installments is enough. I played this, hoping to have a classic Mario Party formula, but I was really disappointed in the overall presentation. The minigames rely too much on luck rather than skill, and the graphics are a mixed bag. Some minigames have clunky and frequently unresponsive controls. Yes, there are a lot of unlockables, but those tend to be mostly sound tests. Lame.

    All of our complaints about previous games – the slow pace, the lackluster single-player affair, the loose attention to detail – all remain and with Mario Party 8 we can add another criticism: ignorance of the Wii remote.

    A really disappointing (but, as mentioned at the start of this review, inevitably still entertaining) Wii debut for the series. Perhaps the next game will truly take advantage of the Wii controls through and through.
