It's a disheartening slurp backwards when compared to "Eledees," but there are enough unique ideas here to warrant a rental when it comes out in the UK. [JPN Import; Nov 2007, p.46]
-
It's too bad the developers felt they could coast along on the strength of a handful of good ideas. [Ocvt 2007, p.121]
-
Dewy's Adventure has some admirable qualities to it, but the control issues keep it from truly shining.
-
Unfortunately, for all its charm and interesting controls, the game is seriously hard. It requires a large degree of precision and finesse in your movements--a single misstep and you can wave goodbye to Dewy.
-
games(TM)Dewy’s Adventure feels like a full-blown game rather than a collection of brief remote-based tasks that have seemingly become the Wii norm lately. [Oct 2007, p.125]
-
Nintendo PowerIf you can preserve through one world, though, the rest of Dewy's Adventure offers a pretty good time. [Nov 2007, p.99]
-
If you can get past the obnoxious level of cuteness and wearisome controls, though, you'll uncover a cheerfully fun Wii platformer.
-
A fairly disappointing title. It is clearly marketed to a younger audience but because it is so hard to control Dewy, it will most likely turn them away.
-
Dewy's Adventure is too cute for adults and too frustrating for kids.
-
Dewey is a little over the top for older gamers, but a little too complicated for really young gamers. Either way it provides a decent amount of fun and a very unique take on your average water droplet.
-
With levels and controls akin to Marble Madness, as well as slick platforming elements and a refreshing combat mode, Dewy's Adventure will satisfy the kid in you, while maintaining an environmentally conscious message without being overly preachy.
-
Finding all one hundred of Dewy's friends, known as the Eaus, on every level is a real challenge, so the replay value is there.
-
The unique gameplay is appealing, but the lack of depth and variety is disappointing.
-
Dewy's Adventure has all the conceptual makings of a great platformer, but in the end the developer's ambition has fallen short of that goal due in large to the title's control scheme, which never feels tight and responsive and always feels slow and occasionally even unpredictable.
-
I just can’t imagine how a youngster without all of my adult patience would feel playing this game thinking it’s the one to get while waiting for a Mario title. Make no mistake: this is not Super Mario Galaxy; it’s more like Wii’s Lair.
-
There are some rough spots, and it’s far too challenging for its preschool target audience, but older players that can get past the glucose-coated exterior will find it to be a decent platformer with a fair share of challenge.
-
Dewy's Adventure has some great ideas and many gamers will like the simple pleasures it provides, but hardcore platform fans will breeze right though this one like a box of Oreos.
-
Edge MagazineThe meat of the game remains enjoyable yet underwhelming. [Dec 2007, p.96]
-
Games Master UKFrom the makers of the brilliant "Eledees" this is a confused let-down. Worth a rent at best. [Dec 2007, p.75]
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKKonami's willingness to put the Wii's controls to good use without making a gimmick-laden game pays off once again - Dewy is great fun, if slightly infuriating for all the right reason. [Dec 2007, p.78]
-
A very annoying and superficial piece of work.
-
It marries the Wii's control system with good old-fashioned puzzle-platforming; its scope isn't exactly broad, and not everyone will love the controls, but any fan of this endangered genre will find something to like in its reflex-testing level geometry or amusing puzzles, if not its gaudy looks.
-
Konami has done a very good job in creating another cool and likeable hit for kids with a Wii.
-
Dewy’s Adventure is too simple for experienced gamers, placing far more emphasis on its “hey, neato!” motion sensitive controls than on actual gameplay.
-
For those tempted to play a different kind of platformer, Dewy's Adventure may be very attractive. However, it may also become infuriating due to the peculiar playability.
-
Maxi Consolas (Portugal)Although it seems to be designed for a younger audience, it feels best suited for veteran gamers that struggle to find the challenge and difficulty of games from the past. If you belong to the last category you might be thrown off by its childish looks. If you belong to the first, you might not react well to its frustrating moments. [Jan 2008]
-
The poor camera work and awkward controls work against the player, leaving them with a frustrating experience few will have the patience to put up with.
-
Dewy's Adventure lacks the focus of a dedicated puzzle game or platformer, but to its credit, it is the only game that has tried to put those genres together. The developers pursued a risky experiment, and the results are sometimes frustrating.
-
Those willing to put the time in to grasp the game’s frustrating controls (Monkey Ball maniacs perhaps) will most likely squeeze a lot of fun out of the game. The rest of us, however, are better off steering clear.
