    It has a fair share of problems of course but it's still kind of playable and not too bad

    If you bought the game bundle of the Wii and Wii U game, make sure to do what other reviews say and ignore the Wii U version. I felt that a disservice was done by releasing a bad Wii U version and not the Wii version instead. The Wii version is a classic.

    This game take pages from Nights into Dreams with the Sonic Adventure game mechanics. I have to praise the Wii version more because it was the one I played more than the Wii U version. The story isn't anything special, just a typical game you would play back in 1995. I like how all you need is the Wii Remote to play, using only the d-pad to move around when you need to. The Wii U version however is a port of the 3DS game and has completely different mechanics. The first thing you notice is the flying now has a gas meter... WHY? The other thing you might notice is that you now need the nunchuck to move. If you can find the package that has both, pick it up and give it a try.… Expand

    Good game involves RPG elements to evolve the skills, collect items, extras, good soundtrack, good story, visual type anime and more. This game is unique in a generation where almost everything is more of the same.

    Amazing game that has me hooked! There is a learning curve to the control but, as Yuji Naka stated, becomes natural after some practice. I loved the WiiU version so much that I bought the 3DS version too and am very satisfied, the graphics seem great to me for such huge worlds on the handheld. After playing these two versions for some time, I tried the Original Wii version (Yuji Naka andAmazing game that has me hooked! There is a learning curve to the control but, as Yuji Naka stated, becomes natural after some practice. I loved the WiiU version so much that I bought the 3DS version too and am very satisfied, the graphics seem great to me for such huge worlds on the handheld. After playing these two versions for some time, I tried the Original Wii version (Yuji Naka and team created) and see so many differences, they really are two separate games. The WiiU and 3DS have a leveling system that is more like an RPG. Each play through will earn different parts and items you need to gain faster flight, weapons and more. I found that you will not receive the same items when defeating the same enemies so it leaves a lot of surprise and challenge. High replay value! The Wii version, while I do not have as much time logged yet, is truly wonderful on it's own with lots of little details not found in the WiiU or 3DS. The differences are very welcome and do not bother me at all because of the other new options and gameplay experience. I see this as a real treasure and am surprised that the reviewers that cannot see the magic. Really? Sure, there may better looking and easier to play games on the system, I have them too. This game is very different and a beloved addition to my library that I do not regret purchasing both the Limited edition version from NIS and the 3DS launch version. Gooooooo Rodea!… Expand

    Compelling New Game with a learning curve.

    People are really ignorant, this game is wonderful both are, Wii as well as Wii U both have a Compelling art style and both have a learning curve, but once you've adjusted to the controls it plays equally smooth.
    Just give the game a chance and stop being ignorant.

    The Wii version bundled with this is the real deal; a Nights-style game with open stages and really challanging score challanges. Not free of problems sure, but a nice game.

    I'm usually not one to complain about Nintendo exclusives but "Rodea the Sky Soldier" on Wii U is a really bad and broken port which took out the life the game had. The Wii U version is visually lifeless with a terrible colour scheme, graphics look straight out upscaled from the 3DS version to the Wii U in what you get are semi-HD graphics. It still looks pretty awful despite the effort.I'm usually not one to complain about Nintendo exclusives but "Rodea the Sky Soldier" on Wii U is a really bad and broken port which took out the life the game had. The Wii U version is visually lifeless with a terrible colour scheme, graphics look straight out upscaled from the 3DS version to the Wii U in what you get are semi-HD graphics.     On the Wii U version they tried to make "Rodea the Sky Soldier" into a traditional 3D platformer but it honestly feels terrible because the game was never made to be played this way and so trying to play faithfully won't get you much enjoyment out of it. That is, unless you enjoy playing broken and terrible games as some people find enjoyment in said games and media.

    All in all "Rodea the Sky Soldier" on Wii U is only worth getting for the Wii version disc (+ reversible Wii cover) that comes bundled with the first print. Just don't play the Wii U version. It's horrendously bad.

    Lastly, I've given the game a 3 out of 10 because the physical artwork looks nice and the first prints' all come with a reversible Wii cover as well as the originally intended Wii game disc. "Rodea the Sky Soldier" is easily one of the worst Wii U 2015 games I've played.

    Play the Wii version, it's much, much, MUCH better than this pile of crap. It's like this one is an entirely different game! And they don't allow you to play the proper version unless you buy a first print crappy version!

    Somewhere buried within The Sky Soldier is the kernel of an idea that defies gravity, as well as our expectations. Sadly, despite Naka’s best intentions, Rodea never hits those heights.
