Vast improvement over the original. The two biggest changes the game makes is the set camera and high score mechanic.
The game has an excellent camera, especially compared to the original, showing everything you need to see, and just enough for you to catch on to secrets. The game has an excellent camera, especially compared to the original, showing everything you need to see, and just enough for you to catch on to secrets. The camera also helps make the game more platform based than the original, a concept that is echoed throughout the reapplication of the power-ups such as Fire Pac's ability to glide.
The high score mechanic changed how the game gets played itself. The normal Pac-Man boo power, normally useless in the original, becomes so necessary for scoring high scores that the game introduces switching between your current power and normal Pac-Man, outside of a few power-ups. This system changed how the game was built, 3 bonus collectible like star coins can be found in all normal levels, giving a 2x multiplier at the end of a level to help with high scores, coin's giving you temporary bonuses, health ups in stages, it all works together nicely in the best of application of High Scores I've ever seen.
There are also challenge levels, 3d shoot-em-up levels, and unique bosses that change the game. They feel very polished and add tons of replay value.
The story is better than the original, but if the game didn't have a story at all it would still be better than the original. It would have done better with scenes from the show than the in game cut scenes and the voice acting is just as bad. The story, while they try, doesn't seem to go anywhere, so you'll be good to just skip all the cut scenes they present. The graphics are basically the same as the original, and thus a bit week but it doesn't hurt the game at all.
By the end, the game is full of imagination and fun. It's very easy, seemingly throwing lives at you, and will only challenge you in High Scoring all stages. Overall, its a fun experience, doing the Pac-Man franchise justice.… Expand
