This is my favourite game to bring out when friends or family come over. All my younger siblings love playing the various modes. If that is working together in the co-op modes or fighting each other in the versus. It also has some great single player content, i have loved the donkey kong inspired one. I keep coming back to try and beat my high score!

This game is begging for a switch port, it’s so good. Metroid Blast, Zelda: Battle Quest, & Pikmin Adventure are the highlight attractions. This is how you do a party game.

Nintendo land was seen by Nintendo as a 'Wii sports' to the Wii U. It is a lovely 12 minigame compilation, with each game based on a Nintendo franchise. It is a lovely 12 minigame compilation, with each game based on a Nintendo franchise. From 'Mario Chase', where you just literally chase your friends down as mario, who will run around a map to avoid being caught, to even 'Takamaru's Ninja Castle', where you use your gamepad to shoot shuriken towards the TV to shoot oncoming ninjas popping on your TV. There are a few very strong suits Nintendo land has, with the first one being the looks. In every detail and character this game just pops and looks as lively as a nintendo game based on this idea can be. The second one is the multiplayer. Not every minigame works for everyone, But the thrill and excitment i had with games like 'Mario Chase' and 'Animal Crossing: Sweet day' just running away from my friends and hoping to not be caught is just beyond everything i have played before. The gamepad also uses 360 degrees gameplay, where if you turn around, the screen turns with you, and a minigame like 'The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest', where you hunt down enemies with either your bow and arrow or sword, looking around you like the opponent actually stands on the left or right from you genuinly feels like a mini VR effect that adds to the experience. The last one is easily the most important. It works for the glue to all the points i just made, and that is the overall theming. If you complete/play levels in these minigames, you get coins. You can use these coins to play a targeted drop game to touch certain points. If you get all the points, you unlock a lucky box that drops anywhere on your Nintendo land theme park. You can open these and each box has something different. From soundtracks of the minigames you can put up on in the backround to unlockable things you've witnessed while playing the games. Not only does this theme park gets more and more full, you can unlock over 200 (!) different items. This also of course looks fantastic and adds so much more play value to this game. The few flaws this game has become apparent while playing, but are also easily said. This game SHOULD have been a pack-in title with every region, not only Europe (for the most part). The other one is the comparison with Wii Sports. Anyone wanted to try Wii Sports, and for good reason. Anyone knew they could play what was on screen for that game. This looks more like a game you leave your kids to play, wich also makes it WAY harder to understand than Wii Sports. If you put in the time, or grew up with wii sports and now are in the position to play it with friends/kids etc, you will fall in love with at least a few of the minigames, i am convinced by that, but thinking it might look to complex because of some of the controls and/or gameplay is also easily understandable. Still, this has the potential to be the best multiplayer experience i ever had. I didnt grew up with it, wich makes it somewhat harder to put my nostalgia aside, but it is technically a way better game than Wii Sports is, but the Wii Sports has a bit more replay value and is a lot better of a showcase. Still for today's price and fun you can have, this is a huge recommendation and i must have in your collection. Expand

So, I have averaged out all the opinions and made an honest decision. Nintendo Land is one of the games that came with the Wii U at launch. It was basically the only good game. It was high-score based like Game & Wario, but in a good way. There were 12 mini games, 6 of them 1 player, and 6 of them party, or rather 3 party and 3 party-ish. Every one of them was good, but I had favorites, like Sweet Day and the Balloon Fighter one. Each of them were based on a Nintendo game, retro or new. Mostly retro. You’d gain coins from getting high scores and beating the levels in the party-ish ones. You use them in a lottery to get prizes.

I love Miis. I love any game with them. This game uses them, and has a toy-ish look to them.

The games can eventually get repetitive, and this is no Wii Sports. Other then that, this is a top-tier party game.

-There's legitimate difficulty in the single player modes.
    Cons:
-The Metroid and Zelda party games require wii motion plus with multiplayer
-6 of the 12 party games are single player only outside of the attraction tour
-3 of the party games are multiplayer only, which is a shame, because they're the 3 best in the game.
-Takamaru's Ninja Castle controls very unintuitively and can be frustrating.
Summary: An easy contender for the greatest party game Nintendo has made with amazingly fun gameplay, with or without friends. Any Wii U owner should give this game a try!

The music is really good, and the setting of a theme park fits the game very well. The biggest problem with Nintendo Land is that most people might not understand the minigames first time, mainly due to the fact that for you to enjoy the minigames the most, is if you have some knowledge of the games they are based on. When I played this game with my parents, it took them a while to not only understand the controls, but also understand who they were during the minigames, but overall I would give this game a 9/10. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Nintendo Land is absolutely amazing. The fact that this was packaged in with the Wii U is a plus itself. This is my go to party game on Wii U and I love playing this.

The competitive multiplayer games like Mario Chase are the stars of the show. These are very fun with people screaming and laughing whenever we play them. Single Player games are fantastic too, I particularly enjoyed the F-Zero game which was very competitive when played in the Attraction tour where lots of games are played to score points.

There are few flaws to this wonderful game. Some of the games are just so good, that none of the others are played and just seem to get forgotten. Mario Chase, Animal Crossing Sweet Day and Pikmin Adventure are all so good that they make other games like Octopus Dance and Balloon Trip Breeze feel a little bare bones and almost like they're missing something.

This is a wonderful game. Highly recommended

Nintendoland is another game that is hard to rate as its enjoyability really depends on the experience of the player(s) and how many players will be playing. For someone who is well-versed in gaming I could see this game potentially being a bore. On the other hand with a group of friends I bet this game could be a blast. I was pleasantly surprised at the novel ways NintendoLand taught us to use the wii u gamepad. I loved the colorful graphics also. They are very cute, bright and just pop. I liked that each game was simple yet brought a certain amount of depth as you progressed through each game so you were facing new challenges and would not get too bored. I also like how it saves your score and you can try to beat your own score or other players scores. This game was a huge step up from something like wii sports in my opinion. Everything was well executed. The main issue is if you don't have the right amount of players or right crowd, NintendoLand is not going to be one of your go to games. Instead it would be one of those games you pick up every once in awhile when you got some company over. Expand

Nintendo Land is the kind of game that can get someone hooked for days on end. The game can be very addicting because of the minigames that are in the actual game. Games like Metroid Blast, Mario Chase, Pikmin Adventures, Donkey Kong’s Crash Course, and 12 others. The game that I loved to play when the Wii U first came out was founded by the game company Nintendo. The composer of the game is Ryo Nagamatsu. If you would like to buy at these days in age it costs roughly $9.99

Since the whole game is filled with other minigames there really is close none or no plot at all. Some of the minigames have a story behind why you go on adventures, for example, The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest. The setting of the whole thing takes place in a theme park surrounded by the entrances the sperate minigames that ar readily available. The games themselves all have their own settings such as Takemaru’s Ninja Castle which takes place in a ninja dojo. When I first started to play Nintendo Land was pretty curious as what kind of game it would be because on the case there was all these different characters, gadgets, and gizmos.

One feature that I really like to play around with is the Attraction tour which is a train that takes you and a friend(s) through multiple minigames. Opponents pick the minigames and they play them to get points where sometimes they can swap and you could get the lowest person’s points. Another thing is when my dad is watching TV and I want to play “Nintendo Land” I can’t because I need the TV to see what I am doing in the game. Octopus Dance is a game within Nintendo Land where all you do is stand up and move your arms to a test dummy and get a score on how well you did, so that is one of the games that can get pretty boring after the first ten minutes of playing it.

A group of people that I would play this with is Mario fans because people like that would probably like the overall game. I would recommend this game to people who really like Nintendo. I would not recommend it to people who only like to play the Xbox or Play Station. It is rated E10+ for “Cartoon Violence” and “Crude Humor.” My final word on this game is that it is a “good” game.

They could have tried to make better single player minigames, and a larger variety in maps or modes for some of the good minigames (Luigi's, Mario Chase, Metroid). The remixed music is great and the new music in the game (Nintendo Land night theme in particular) is mostly wonderful. This game was a fun party game to play to get a hang of the Wii U Gamepad. It's a nice bonus as part of the deluxe bundle but as a standalone game? Even though Nintendo Land was released as a launch title for the Wii U, I didn't get the chance to play it until recently. Was it worth the wait? I'm still not quite sure. I'll be going over each minigame individually.

The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest is team attraction that involves one swordsman and archer. It's really well designed and represents the Zelda universe in a good way.

It's very fun to play with a friend and it's great to see games in which players can actually work together for once instead of yelling at each other. Pikmin Adventure, another team attraction, actually has a nice little story to go along with it. A dark version of the park's host, Monita, must be stopped and the space captain Olimar has to team up with Pikmin to defeat her! This minigame, like Pikmin 3, is gorgeous and very unique.

Metroid Blast is kind of boring. It doesn't really ever feel like you're doing much or doing anything meaningful. The mode in Metroid Blast is the more fun of the two modes featured (the other one is working together). Competitive attractions are perhaps the most fun to play. Mario Chase (in which a Toad works together with two Yoshi carts to catch Mario) is super fun to play and it uses the GamePad well. Luigi's Ghost Mansion is just as unique. A ghost must defeat Luigi before time runs out or vice versa. I usually lost but you know a game's good when you want to keep playing it after you lose!

Animal Crossing: Sweet Day is both intense and cute at the same time. One player controls an elephant villager who must escape Copper and Booker (dog guards...get it?) and place a certain amount of candies and place them in baskets. Yoshi's Fruit Cart is: meh. That's all that needs to be said there. Octopus Dance based on the old Game & Watch games is surprisingly pretty challenging. You have to memorize dance moves and try to copy them; thankfully, only by pressing buttons and not actual dancing.

DK's Crash Course is a pretty unexpected minigame. I would have expected Donkey Kong's minigame to be based on Donkey Kong Country, not the original arcade game! Like Octopus Dance, it's challenging but it is much, much harder! Takamaru's Ninja Castle uses the GamePad to a great extent as you throw ninja stars at other ninjas. It has a very Japanese-like atmosphere and it conveys the tone of the original game (Mysterious Murasame Castle) well. I have very few memories of Captain Falcon's Twister Race but none of them were pretty. The last minigame Balloon Trip Breeze is based upon Balloon Fight. It's basically the exact same thing. Still, I really like this one.

Overall, Nintendo Land is a great minigame compilation even with a few dud ones (Captain Falcon, Yoshi). It's questionable why there are minigames based on The Mysterious Murasame Castle and the Game & Watch series but not ones based on Kirby, Star Fox, or Pokemon...am I the only one that finds that odd?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Every game included in this is great. Some get old fast (looking at you Yoshi Kart) but they are still fun the first couple times that you play them. Others are very deep and complex. We had a blast playing through Zelda, Pikman, and Metroid co-ops. The ghost game and animal crossing are also fun with 3+ players. Chasing Mario with Toads wasn't my cup of tea, but if that's something you like, you'd probably get a lot of mileage out of that as well. However, a big problem with the multiplayer versus games (ghost, animal crossing, and mario) is a lack of levels. Each only has 2-3 different levels - would have been way better if there were at least 10 or so.

For single player, we played Donkey Kong and the Balloon one the most. They are both challenging and lots of fun. It does suck that once you die, you have to start all over from the beginning, but I guess that just makes beating them all that much more rewarding. The octopuss game was actually very challenging, which was nice because most "simon says" games are difficult to make challenging. Yoshi Kart is nice for strategy, the Ninja game is a decent "first person shooter", and F-Zero racing is fun as well. Overall, there really aren't any bad games included in this, and you'll get a good amount of time out of each of them.

The main downfall is that there is no online multiplayer mode. Would have been awesome to be able to play Metroid against others.

I must not be the target market for this one, because I just don't see the appeal, but my kids seem to like it. Just seem like a bunch of cheesy demo games, not very well executed. At first i thought this was a silly gift to increase the deluxe value, but the truth is that it is a very nice game. It makes a great job teaching how to use Wii U and gave a lot of fun to my family at the same time.

After each game we pass the pad to the next player in the circle and continue on. Hours can pass so quick without notice. There are also solo games which use the gamepad in very unique and fun ways. But these too are not just single player and a second player can help out with a wii mote. I couldn't fault any of the games in particular but I would say that Metroid Blaster was definitely my most played and the game I had the most fun with. Take the game for what it is, a fun game designed for bringing people together and you will get hours of entertainment. If you want a purely single player experience that exhibits all of the games qualities then this is not the game for you. But hey, that's just my opinion, I still did have a blast playing some of the solo games on my own. This is my most played wii U game to date. Its replay value is off the chart. Expand

For me this game is an all around great launch title for the Wii-U. The art direction for the game is one of the most unique things about it and really does, in some of the mini-games, show off the capabilities of the system. If you are getting a Wii-U this is a must.

Y'know, I really liked this game. Excepting a few Mini Games, of course, but I will get to that.
Legend of Zelda: Battle quest was enjoyable. One thing that was annoying is you just had to spam arrows, but you had to spam arrows with or without charging them up. The Wiimote fighting in this game was better.
Metroid Blast was awesome. The ship gave you a lot of freedom, but it did make

Metroid Blast was awesome. The ship gave you a lot of freedom, but it did make everything a little easier. Especially when battling someone else. However, it was still very good and I liked it.
Pikmin Adventure was not as good as the other two, especially as all you did was tapped the screen over and over again. It was still good, though.
Mario Chase was the house favorite. My 21-year old brother and his friends played it all the time. Definitely the best multi-player oriented attraction.
Luigi's Mansion was also good, like Mario Chase was.
I didn't play Animal Crossing: Sweet day. I just didn't get it, and being the guards made my head spin.
Yoshi's Fruit Cart was okay, but barely missing the fruit did make me mad, it wasn't enough to make me stop playing it.
Octopus dance just wasn't fun. You lost if the stick is too far off, and the jerking of the gamepad was hard to keep up with.
DK's Crash Course was pretty fun. After about 5 times around, I finally got to the last area. However, it is so hard I always die on it. It is very hard at that point.
Takamaru's Ninja castle was fun, but the scrolls never worked for me. You have to try to do it 10 times, and by that time, you are dead. still a really fun game.
Captain Falcon's twister race was very fun also. I found myself trying to finish it again and again.
Baloon Trip Breeze wasn't my favorite, but I did like it more after I got Balloon Trip on the VC.
Overall, some games aren't that fun, and some are very interesting. Good game, but I would only get it with the Deluxe package.

Nintendo Land is a compilation of 12 minigames called 'attractions'. Each one is based on a Nintendo franchise, eg zelda. This forces you to coordinate, and is very fun. This is just a single example of a minigame. Completing every minigame is very difficult and takes loads of practice, increasing the lasting appeal of Nintendo Land. There are 6 multiplayer attractions- 3 co-op 3 competitive. Each is blast. The competitive ones especially make creative use of gamepad and wiimotes together. In Luigi's Ghost Mansion, one person, who is the ghost, looks at the gamepad and four people look at the tv. The people with wiimotes are all luigis who must capture the ghost, who is the gamepad player. But the ghost is not visible on the tv. However, the gamepad player looks at the gamepad so that he/she can se him/herself. Whoever you play as, it's one of the most fun experiences I've had all year in games. Sadly, there are no competitive options in the remaining six minigames, but they are great fun anyway. Nintendo Land is the first game you should buy for your wii u. Expand

If there are two things Nintendo can do right on a regular basis its making good local multiplayer games (something that I wish other developers would do better). The other thing is they know how to make fun and interesting mini-games that are also worthwhile. Nintendo Land is by no means perfect, but it is a fun introduction to the WiiU that is worth a look. Especially because it showcases some of the most unique aspects of the WiiU that no other game has done yet, and I fear no other game will be able to do quite as well.
The game features a variety of fun mini games all based around Nintendo's existing properties with Pokemon and StarFox being noticeably absent from the games included. What's up Nintendo, didn't feel like giving us another ride in the Arwings? What about a return to the rad mini games of Pokemon Stadium fame? The games included are still fun and interesting. You have a mini racing game from F-Zero. A fun co-op game from Zelda as well as one from Pikmin. Mario, Luigi, and Animal Crossing all have competitive modes that are a riot to play. Meanwhile, Yoshi's and the Game & Watch's mini games don't quite measure up to the rest of the roster.
You'll quickly find games you like more than others and probably brush the ones you don't care for under the rug. I know the most played at our home is Zelda because we had one friend obsessing over beating the game. A good time, but it did get frustratingly difficult at times where even good teamwork felt like it didn't help.
That said, all the games feature the WiiU pad in a different way, each showing just how unique this device is and giving us some ideas what we COULD expect from the WiiU if developers where complete that were too afraid to make a game for such a small install base. The idea of having a full map for one player while the rest have none and have to look for him/her is actually a cool idea and very well implemented.
All-in-all, it's a short game you probably won't play without your friends to have some fun. The games aren't mindblowing, but they are all interesting in one way or another. It's certainly a game I'd recommend for the WiiU, if, for any reason, to have SOMETHING to play on it. But if you can't shell out the $60 for it, I wouldn't. But, nonetheless, fun and unique, which is certainly something I don't see much of in most other games.

There are a few dud mini-games, but Nintendo Land does a good job at highlighting the strengths of the new system and the potential of asymmetric multiplayer. [Feb 2013, p.64]
