Nintendo decided to double down on this shocking twist to the Mario party formula and most people agree this is one of the worst Mario party games. Not only gameplay wise does it not seem to make a lot of sense, it also ruined the story. Truly one of the darkest ages for the franchise.

This game is rigged... and I love it! Out of that, i think it's a pretty decent Mario Party game and that actually the title for the worst game in the saga goes to Mario Party Advance, not this one...

Just like Mario Party 9, except it’s even worse here because they brought back the car after all the backlash it got, while they should’ve reverted to the old style. If there is anyone who actually likes the car, they probably haven’t played any of the classic games and don’t know what they’re missing. There are only five boards in this game which is less than any of the previous main Mario Parties, and while they are okay, none of them are very memorable. The character roster is mediocre, while it was awesome seeing DK playable again and Spike was an interesting choice, many fan favourites are missing. I did enjoy a handful of the minigames, but at this point it’s an inevitability. There are a couple of different main modes this time around besides the traditional Mario Party. We have Bowser Party, which is only fun if you’re playing as Bowser and it’s very lopsided as he has way more dice and an advantage in his minigames. Then we have amiibo party which is kinda similar to the classic games, except you have to have an amiibo to play it and the boards are really square... literally. This game is extremely mediocre and if it wasn’t for the minigames, I would probably give it a negative rating. Expand

I don't get it, they changed the formula. We had a great formula in the past Mario party games and they threw it out of the window in Mario party 10. Unlike it's reputation suggests, Mario Party 10 is not Satan's creation, and is instead a very fun multiplayer experience. I'll talk about each mode plus a few other things Mario Party 10 has to become a nifty game. So let's a go!

Mario Party: Mario Party 9's (I will compare this game to 9 a lot.) Mario Party mode was fantastic. The party car was a great way to swap things up, the 1-2-3, 0-0-1, 1-10 and Slow dice blocks provide great strategizing and Mini Stars and Mini Ztars can be used with these dice to screw up your now ex-friends. I should also say 9's events and minigames were suprising and fun to play through. Mario Party 10 changes things up, which results in a gorgeous yet faintly lacking Mario Party mode. They added a lot of new dice so that the dice arrrrre *takes deep breathe* 1-6, 1-2-3, 0-0-1, 4-5-6, 1-10, Slow 1-6, Slow 1-2-3 and Slow 4-5-6. Wow. That's cool and stuff, but a number of the great events from 9 are taken away and replaced with 'Jump at the right time to avoid the lava bubbles' or 'Oh no, there's
more Bowser Spaces! What I will say they improved though is the Bowser Spaces. Here, whenever you land on a Bowser Space, you tremble and drop your Wii U remote (Or Pro Controller if you're a true gamer) in fear, however in 9, Bowser would actually HELP you instead of being like 'Damn it! It's Bowser.'. But I digress. Speaking of Bowser...

Bowser Party: Mario Party 10's advertising focused on Bowser Party more than ANYTHING else. Hell, I remember thinking this was a Bowser game or something. But now I see why. It's because Bowser Party is a great multiplayer mode. Here, the 1-2-3 dice blocks are just a way to fill up your inventory, and they appear A LOT. If you have no idea what I mean, think of Mario Kart 8's coins from the ? blocks. They suck, and when you could get a Blue Shell, Mario yells 'NO!' and screws you up. That's what the 1-2-3 dice blocks are. Also, to save myself from talking about the boards, I'll rank 'em here.
    1# Chaos Castle (Bowser Party)
    2# Mushroom Park
    3# Chaos Castle
    4# Whimsical Waters (Bowser Party)
    5# Haunted Trail
    6# Mushroom Park (Bowser Party)
    7# Whimsical Waters
    8# Airship Central

amiibo Party: Alright, I'll just sum it up; amiibo Party sucks. This game would have been better than 9, if this damn mode didn't exist. All you do is slowly roll some dice over a board that's about 25 spaces long, and whenever the hell you want, you can randomly spam your amiibo to get huge advantages and claim about 7 spaces of the board, and you can roll like a 29 if you feel like it. It sucks and goes to show how Mario Party should not become a territorial game.

Achievments, Minigames and other stuff: Yeah, Achivements are cool when they're not in Mario Party, and Minigames are good. Yeah.

Mario Party 10 I didn't like it, my problem: Bowser's minigames for example: Bowser's square can't be moved and players, fire is very easy to dodge, electric ones are easy and boring, Extra: they are short, all the coins, tennis and facing against Bowser Jr. are boring and Minigames and the table and that doesn't make SENSE. I don't like it in this game.

Easily the worst Mario Party game. This game reuses the same gameplay as 9 which most people didn't even like in the first place, so I don't understand why they would return it. The minigames are okay, and Bowser Mode can be fun but sometimes it doesn't feel very well balanced.

Similar problem with Mario Party 9, but this time, the minigames are part of the problem. The problem was that it lacked randomization. In other words, about 70% of the time I replay a map, I end up getting same exact minigame. And once again, the cart driving concept returns. The Bowser Party mode, however was an alright inclusion, but it still lacked competition either way.

The Mario Party mode still has the cars again, but the boards and minigames are very fun.
The Bowser Party mode is unbalanced towards both sides (Team Mario gets a lot of lives and moves while Team Bowser is overpowered in the minigames), but it's still a lot of fun imo.
The Amiibo Party mode might just have squares for boards, which sounds disappointing, but I like the spaces, the gameplay of playing a minigame every round, and the special features of specific boards.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mario Party 10 is a mixed bag. The Mario party formula from 9 has returned but has also been expanded. Bowser Party has been added and is actually very fun. But a third of the game is locked behind an amiibo paywall so some people may only experience Mario Party and Bowser Party.

Firstly, the minigames are very good. There are a lot of skill based games which do not get enough praise. Ice Slide You Slide and Peepa Panic are both very good, competitive and intense skill-based games. Bowser Party is also a nice addition. It has its flaws such as bias but the general experience is a good one.

It is the Mario Party that is the problem. The style from Mario Party 9 has returned and I'm not too happy about it. Granted, it is better than 9. It is still far below the quality seen on the N64 and Gamecube. While the minigames are good, they appear so rarely in Mario Party mode that you may have a whole game with only 3 or 4 minigames.

Overall, while it has its flaws, Mario Party 10 has many good aspects which does provide a solid experience. However, for Wii U party games, I recommend Wii Party U instead.

“Mario Party 10” is a party-based game where you can play with friends or cons (computers) that try to beat you in minigames and in party mode. There are three different game modes to play from and they are Mario Party, Bowser Party, or Amiibo Party. It is kind of like you are living game pieces playing on a giant game board where the enemy is always Bowser, Baby Bowser, or some other miniboss. The game was published by Nintendo and released on March 12, 2015. The game was developed by Nd Cube and released for the Wii U starting at a price of $49.99.

When I first discovered this game I was really happy to see another “Mario Party” game had come out. I loved the last game, “Mario Party 9” that I knew that I would enjoy the newest release very much. So I asked for the at Christmas during 2015, but unfortunately, I didn’t get the game until the next Christmas where I did get it and I was so happy! So, what I did on that Christmas morning was, I played the game hoping that it would be great because since I loved to play the last release a lot. I was kind of disappointed to see the final product because I just didn’t get that feeling of excitement while I was playing.

People that I would recommend this game, are people that just like to have a party any date and time. I would not recommend this game to people who are very social and actually go out and eat with friends and family unless that person would happen to be a gamer. “Mario Party 10” is rated “E” for everyone of all ages. My final word about this game is the word “ok.”

My overall experience with the game is surprisingly not as exciting as I thought it would be. The minigames are probably the best part of the whole game which is not a very good thing because the main picture is supposed to be all about the party mode. Graphics are pretty good like most Nintendo-published games, as well as the controls, they’re pretty easy to learn and get the hang of quickly. I definitely did enjoy playing this game for the most part because of the feature of being able to select any minigame when not in party mode.

I have played all of the Mario Party games, and my least favorite ones are definitely 10 and 9. I think that it's really essential to have the players moving separately on the board, and that there are all kinds of items you can use to mess up with them. These enable you to have some sorts of tactics how to win, but in 9 and 10, it feels like you can't really do anything but rely on luck.I have played all of the Mario Party games, and my least favorite ones are definitely 10 and 9. I hope that they will make Mario Party 11 more like what 5, 6 and 8 were, but with a lot more content and variety so you don't get bored or run out of stuff to unlock so quickly.

Why do you do the horrible gimmick YET AGAIN and why do you NEED to have a wii u remote why can't we used the gamepad. The boards are bland, the bosses are so easy and the minigames are in total meh. And the modes are mediocre. But some of the minigames are decent and the graphics do look great. But still the game is bad though, really bad.

Mario Party 10 continues the downward spiral of this once proud series as the single cart method of the world board detracts from the board game charm present in earlier entries and the inexplicable reduction of mini games leaves one wondering why they are even playing in the first place.

The game continues to give you practice round opportunities, which gives players a better understanding of how to play.

The Kart mode returns, Bowser and vs bowser adds a new twist, the amiibo mode brings it back to the original. Minigames have the arcade and wii remote style of previous entries. Gamepad is also used well with unique controls for Bowser. The Tournament, Bowser tournament and extra modes in the sub menu are also alot of fun.

Definitely a must for the Wii U.

The variety this game has is awesome, and the snappy titles for all the mini-games make it easy to know which game to play! I have been a Mario fan, and I always will be.

I hope that if Nintendo releases a Mario Party 11, they try and make it like Mario Party 1, 2 or 8, which had a lot of fun mechanics, a variety of minigames, boards spendable items and such. An online mode would be pretty appreciated next time too (without removing the 5 players on same WiiU modes)

The fact that you have to land on a specific space to play a minigame takes away the excitement of coming back from 3rd or 4th place if you win; it's dumb. Sure, kids may enjoy it, but this game really stops the party. If you want to play Mario Party, you'd be better off playing 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8 rather than play the lackluster newer versions.

Once you catch up to them, you're all force to play a Bowser minigame. This minigames focused on getting rid of all the hearts from all of the players. Once that player run out of hearts, he or she is out of the game, unless the remaining players managed to restore their hearts. I also like the addition of Rosalina & Spike to the mix. Rosalina is my favorite character, and Spike is a interesting choice. Finally, the minigames are pretty fun, too.

But this game does have some flaws. One of my bigger problems in the return of the vehicle gameplay from Mario Party 9. It wasn't well received in that game, and it doesn't do well in this game. It takes away a lot of the fun stuff the old format had. Another thing is the lack of content. There aren't many modes, boards, and I which there were more things to unlock. The minigames, though fun, also had some things lacking. I'm specifically talking about 2-vs-2 and 1-vs-2/3 minigames. I way kinda disappointed that there were only 10 minigames in both of those category.

This game does support amiibos. Taping an amiibo from the Mario series will unlock amiibo mode, where a board based on the character you placed can be played on. Those amiibos are: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Wario, Rosalina, Donkey Kong, & Bowser. Any other amiibos allows you to play scratch cards to win Mario Party Points, which are used to unlock stuff.
The amiibo mode used the old gameplay from Mario Party 1-8. Where you collect coins and try to get as many stars as possible. While I like that they did return the old gameplay, I don't understand while it's only in amiibo mode. Also, the boards are particularly the same, just with different stuff add on it.

Overall, Mario Party 10 is mostly fun when you're playing with friends. Bowser Party is a blast, and the minigames are fun, but the lack of content can turn you off. A game for family fun, or if you're a fan of the Mario Party series.

I don't see how sharing 1 car is a bad thing, it gives the game more depth and it's hilarious when you set people up for epic fail.

Only gripe is the game doesn't have enough main boards in my opinion. Playing the same 6 boards may get old after a few parties. I don't like the idea of buying Amiibos for boards...That said, even if you have the same group of friends over every time, this game should last you a good 3 to 4 parties, given that I had only paid $30 for the game I think it's well worth it!

I recall one Party Mode game where I won all the minigames, yet I still lost due to random chance working against me. In addition, the gameplay from Mario Party 9 where all players move around together in a vehicle returns, which in my case, is a negative point, as I preferred the individual movement from other Mario Party games. However, unlike in Mario Party 9, the individual movement is still present, although to a limited capacity, as it is only accessible through amiibo Party mode, which, as the name suggests, requires a compatible amiibo figure to play. On top of that, the amiibo Party boards are quite linear, which is disappointing, considering that more money needs to be spent to purchase an amiibo. Regardless of the negatives, Mario Party 10 has positive aspects, such as the minigames being as fun as ever, especially the new Bowser Party minigames, which I had a blast playing. Gloriously colorful graphics, beloved characters, simple formula, astonishing Nintendo Sound Delight, quite a lot of really fun minigames... Really, what is here not to love?

Quite a few things, sadly. See, I am a newcomer to the series. I know that earlier installment of this game had a different core of a mechanic, in which each player had its own pawn to move around the board, strengthening the sense of competition. You could easily see who was triumphing and who was falling behind. And therefore, I understand Nintendo decision to change it and drop all players into a single vehicle, so all of the players progress the same way and the victory is mostly decided on how well they are handling themselves in the minigames and of course on a stroke of luck. Less frustration, right? And you know what? It works! Thanks to this change in the core mechanic all players are always engaged 100%, because no one have a feeling that they are horribly behind others with no visible chance at redemption and victory.

And that is the point in which Bowser Party mode fails to some degree. I /love/ the idea of this mode. Gosh, it's pretty darn brilliant! A whole team of friends fighting not against computer, not between themselves, but against another living player who not only try to outwit them in various mischievous ways on the board but also will test his buddies mettle in brutally delightful minigames of carnage, where as Bowser we aim to eliminate other players swiftly. It sounds, looks and at first plays beautifully, it looks like so much fun!

And it is! Sometimes, that is... The biggest failing in Bowser Party is how uneven the games can be. We play one time, and it's amazing - lots of tension, narrow escapes, reviving buddies by winning hearts, minigames pretty much every round... It was a total blast! But then we play another game, and it's the Most Boring Thing in the Universe. Bowser tosses like a pansy and can barely catch the party once or twice in the course of whole game... Basically turning the whole experience into tossing a dice and moving through the board. Thrilling? i don't think so.

The elimination also kills the fun, it's a usual problem with the 'you are out' mechanic. It's a party game, right? I and /all of my buddies/ wants to have fun, right? So how can they have fun when I basically out them off the game? I had a game once when 3 out of 4 players were eliminated halfway through the map and until the very end of the game they never jumped in... And so 3 people were just watching 2 others plays. Riveting.

And to add another minus to the list above... /THREE/ boards? THREE? Huh... The boards are lovely, both in look and design, and they offer quite a bit of fun, but since they are always adamantly the same, the replayability of them dwindles rapidly away. Shame!

Why 7 then out of 10? 7 is quite a high grade, it means "it's good, It's fun, but it is flawed enough to not be considered great in any way". And that's MP10 for me... It's beautiful. It sound amazing. It /offers quite a few sweet thrills/ and you will have fun with it. But it lacks meat on the bone, so to speak, and on occasion it will let you down...

The mini games in 10 are quite fun tho, some much better than others and are a nice break from the rest of the game. They still have 2v2 , 1v3 and free for all mini games and Bowser will show up often to rain on your parade. Some of the more frustrating elements have been toned down in 10 like Boo stealing your stars over and over but that doesn't mean the game is without it's headaches, You can still go from first to last or last to first in a few turns with blind luck witch can be easily frustrating. Mario Party 10 is a fun game for a few rounds but after 2 or 3 times around the board you will find yourself, well...bored. Games like Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 seem to do a much better job for games to play with friends. Fans of the Mario Party Series should try to find themselves of number 8 or check the Nintendo E-Shop for some of the classic Mario Party titles. Expand

I thought this game was going to be absolutely terrible when I saw that they brought back the car from MP9. The gimmicks weren't selling it for me, so I wrote it off as more IP abuse. When a friend brought the game over, I was pleasantly surprised. The main mode "Mario Party" is almost exclusively random and quite dull, but the other game modes is where this game truly shines.

Bowser Party offers a huge shift in strategy and competitive balance that this franchise sorely needed. Sometimes it can seem like the coms are out to get you, but the team-based all-on-one gameplay is refreshing and offers great contrast to the free-for-all that is usually the case for Mario Party.

Amiibo Party (compatible Amiibo required) goes back to MP roots and gives each player a spot on the board in which the goal is to exchange coins for stars. The minigames are more balanced now with 1st being awarded 15 coins, 2nd getting 10, 3rd getting 5, and last getting nothing so there isn't such a huge gap between the person who wins the minigames and everyone else. The game is also quite generous with giving players special dice, so you can actually use strategy in planning your moves rather than it being totally random. You can even unlock more boards and extra stuff for your amiibo through playing - now that's a reason to play! It's a shame that they didn't include more stuff like Boo, a shop, or bonus stars because this could have been the definitive version of Mario Party in my opinion. My only issues with this mode is that you can't choose how long the game lasts, you have to touch the amiibo to the gamepad for literally any action, and the player with the amiibo sometimes gets extra items which gives them an unnecessary and unfair advantage. Trust me though, the fun of this mode outweighs the negatives.

There are also achievements and unlockables which give you a reason to come back and keep playing the game. The extra modes are actually pretty fun and help diversify the game's content. The most unfortunate thing about this game is the relatively small amount of content compared to other Mario Partys. There are only three boards for Bowser Party and the only type of item in Amiibo Party is special dice, which is a shame because those are the best two modes. If Nintendo adds more boards/minigames through an update, this game could be as good (or maybe even better!) than the N64 masterpieces, and that's really saying something.

I picked this up from Nintendo's eShop looking for a party game that all my friends, gaming or not, could get into and this is perfect. I was relieved to find the end game random star dump that made the n64 and Game Cube versions feel unfair and the winner arbitrary. There are still end game start rewards but they aren't the game changers they once were, now they feel more like tie barkers.

The mini games are fun and varied, I also liked the two main modes. Bowser party felt sort of unfair for everyone but me playing as Bowser on our first go though, but we got the hang of the mini games and it become much more fun. Classic mode was fun right out the gate. I have amiibo for the amiibo party but I have to admit I don't see using it much, but nice touch.

If you are looking for a party game to include your friends that aren't into Mario Kart or Smash this is perfect. Ideal for larger parties as the games last 15 to 30 min each, you need next to no game experience to get the hang of this and it's easy to put down and pick back up.

I could play with friends and it would be entertaining. Problem with this is that this mode only has 3 boards and it gets boring after a bit. The mario party mode is boring and that is because of the car. The car does NOT go well with this mode.... They should look back at mario party 8 instead of mario party 9. The car doesn't work in my opinion. Then the mini games. I personally like the mini games. It was much better then 8 or 9's but they do lack variety in some minigame modes (like 1v3, 2v2 and the 4vboss)

but overall I'm not completely disappointed it wasn't a franchise killer unlike mario party 9. I think nintendo has a chance to make a mario party we can all love. But nintendo is also running out of time and ideas.... so only time can tell if the next installment of mario party will be a end or a successor.

Good family fun! Mario Party 10 is not an amazing game, it is (much like other games in the series) fun when playing with friends or family. Being able to play as the nemesis - Bowser, is definitely the most fun addition. On the negative side, the game is by no means deep and the unlockables are anemic. Great fun as a board game with variety.

This game is very good in terms of its colorful graphics but the vehicle is why less people are getting it. For me I personally enjoy with the car of without the car. Maybe can just try to at least play the game for once and focus it on other reviews. But this game is good but not better than MP9 due to Amiibo Party

Nintendo's latest entry in the Mario Party series tries many new things. One of the highlights is Bowser Party, but when you play Bowser Party, Bowser gets to roll more dice and Bowser always seems to win every mini game. But what really frustrated me was when if you didn't roll a number high enough to reach Mario and the others, Bowser gets another chance to roll and that's not fair. It might seem cool for other people because they always win, but there is really no challenge what so ever. There are new mini games and new boards in Mario Party mode but offers very little variety and you won't find yourself playing for so long. I personally say that the game is al least worth a rental for families who have kids or teens who have an actual party. But I say its not worth a buy. Expand

Quite shocked at this newest instalment, claims to be 30 minutes took under 10 and the bowser mode is terrible. What happened to mini-games? This is, in my opinion, the best of the "Party" games so far, In this game, players go through a mini game filled board, trying to reach the end of the track in first place and with the most points. Points are given for various reasons, most of which are winning mini games. This game mode is called Classic Mario Party. This seems simple enough, but Mario Party 10 takes this familiar game style and turns it on its head a bit by adding Bowser, and calling it….Bowser Party. Very creative. Bowser races around the game too, but instead of trying to win, he is simply trying to wreck everything and make your game less fun. He does this by swapping rules in games, inventing painful Bowser based mini games where your players are smashed, burned and swept away. Sometimes he just steals all your points. My son thoroughly enjoys the Mario Party line of games and was incredibly excited to play as Bowser in this most recent addition to the series. The game is well worth it for the little guy, he loves playing as Bowser and enjoys it even more with extra people playing. The more, the better. The game also supports Amiibo figures to unlock added fun in the game, as well as a special game mode called Amiibo Party. My son loves it, my husband loves it- it's good for everyone here. We all also like using the Amiibo as well. Expand
