A great conclusion to Klaus' saga.
The story is really short, obviously made for those who have played the complete series (as it should), but I think it leaves too much to the player's interpretation without giving decisive answers.

I just felt that the final part of the story was REALLY rushed and could have been done better with just 1 or 2 hours more. At the start, I didn't even realized I was at the final boss.

The gameplay is where this DLC tuly shines.
The already fun and interesting gameplay of the base game is even better in this expansion, allowing the player to perform various tactics even more easily, without making it too easy.
The characters are a joy to play as, I never had so much fun playing a Xenoblade as in this one!

The world map is HUGE and connected without any sort of loading which is REALLY impressive, definitely a step forward from the base game. It's also is more memorable and with much mkre activities to do in it. The DLC does, in fact, incentive exploration by giving a lot of bonuses to the active player, which is something 2 and 3 completely missed.
The map is also a great gift for those who played 1 and 2. Really nostalgic... I'll miss this series.

Likely the overall best expansion of Xenoblade games overall, with great systems that completely encourage explorations and beating enemies, and a great cap to end the trilogy. I do worry about the items being used to create aether lifts and more as towards end if you focus on main story more i found to be barred by the black stones, i think they should refine that as many will focus on main story and do a handful of exploration locking your progression with items still worries me. For the story i found myself a bit confused, i think they lore dump things a lot all at once a few times but its overall solid. The combat switch up is great and compliments things though i think classes were more fun, and i still think if they are doing mmo enemies should have attack lines/ boxes and more interaction as at times. Its still has some issues with ally AI and other factors. I do think from base game hero quests are very much missed as blue quests in this game feel a bit basic in comparison. Overall an excellent addition worth it if you have played all the games, looks like something that could be strong for future titles. Expand

+Characters don't feel one-dimensional and there's lots of focus on the group and their personal struggles, wich is something that the previous games also had but not to the same extend and I'm glad to see more of it here.

+Combat is advanced and complex and gives you seemingly infinite options to set-up your party. It's fun but din't go in this game thinking it's a full on action-JRPG

+Combat is advanced and complex and gives you seemingly infinite options to set-up your party. It's fun but din't go in this game thinking it's a full on action-JRPG cuz it's not. It's more of a tactical/strategy JRPG except it's not turned based.

    +Music is peak as usual.

+The areas look dope and are fun to explore, tho don't go in this game thinking it's an open-world game like BOTW, cuz it's simply not that and not trying to be that.

+The graphics are better than ever. Great artstyle with great graphics (For the Switch, at least)

-The areas are very large (especially in the later chapters) but unlike in Xenoblade X, there's no sprint button wich this game could use for sure.

-When you're fighting in a small area with lots of enemies at once the game becomes hard to follow visually. Now yes, there is an indicator showing your position relative to the enemy you're targeting but it's still a mess sometimes. I feel like they should give us the option to disable damage and healing numbers since, when you think about it, you don't really need them. Sure it's good to compare the damage output of your party members n' stuff but you can already see all the stats in the character menu so just give us the option to turn of all these damage/healing numbers so that my screen doesn't look so bloated in crowded fights.

-The dialoge isn't bad but sometimes it feels like the characters point out pretty obvious things. Mainly early game.

-This is not the dev's fault but sometimes I had frame rate drops in ceetain areas. This is just a Switch issue, not a Xenoblade issue.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Xeno series is so F*****G SPECIAL YALL. Just wow. I’ve sat with my thoughts for months on this DLC & can conclude that this would easily be my GOTY had it been a full experience. I honestly prefer Future Redeemed to the base game of Xenoblade 3 & we all know how great that game was! I even kind of wish we got this over the top fan service in 3 lol. It was a shorter experience than the Torna DLC, but Future Redeemed may be the best DLC I’ve ever played.
The only negative I can think up is that despite all the fan service we get, of which there’s LOADS, we didn’t get to actually see a lot of the characters that were referred to outside of a flashback or two and that makes me sad. I wanted to see everybody grown up with their families & whatnot like THAT photo from the end of 3. I wouldn’t have complained if they weren’t voiced either, I know getting that many VAs back for a DLC is unrealistic, just have had the parties of the last 2 games show up somehow & I would’ve been set for life. Knowing the story I understand why they didn’t show up, but post credit scenes exist damn it! Give me my unrealistic fan service NOW!! They honestly really did go all out on the fan service, referencing even the smallest things from the first 2 Xenoblade games that made me go “OH YEAH!” and point at the screen like Mr. DiCaprio. I just wish they took that one extra gigantic step to satisfy my lizard brain! The new characters Nikol & Glimmer also feel kind of underdeveloped due to the short length of the DLC, while I fell in love with Matthew & A almost right away. I also wish things had a bit more a definitive ending but I’m not opposed to leaving it open if it means Takahashi will keep making stories in this universe contrary to what he’s been saying!
Everything else is basically perfect though. MonolithSoft have the best devs around & they even refined parts of 3 that I didn’t know could be improved upon. The exploration is TOP TIER, I spent hours away from the main quest just to explore which is very rare for me to want to do since I instead tend to want to progress the excellent stories in these games so badly. I’m so happy they added additional context for some things in the base game of Xenoblade 3. The rewards you get for exploring are SO satisfying, plus seeing even more locations fused together from the first 2 games is just amazing to witness. The new affinity scenes give us even MORE fan service, so many of them are great callbacks & genuinely heart warming. I could see myself attempting to 100% this DLC, that’s how addicting it is. The main storyline here is fantastic to no one’s surprise. I was glued to the screen every single second of it. I even called off work just to binge the whole DLC in one day, I couldn’t put it down! I NEEDED to know what happened next. I played this DLC before I played the Xenosaga trilogy & still have yet to get to Xenogears, but the little bits of fan service we got for those underrated gems would make me scream with joy had I gotten to play them first. I had every intention to, but Nintendo shadow dropped this DLC. Oops! Godcleaver Shulk & Chadosaurus Rex are also the best things to happen to me in the last year. I’m gonna miss these characters & everyone else they’ve traveled with to death if this truly the end of the Klaus saga like intended. If you haven’t PLEASE play the entire Xeno series y'all. It’s the best story I’ve ever experienced in gaming.

Great characters, beautiful vistas, a ton of incentive for exploration, fantastic tracks, a story that builds upon the entire franchise and closes the Klaus saga. Very polished gameplay, tons of new QoLs. Looking foward to the future of the franchise!

It's hard for me to feel strongly enough about a DLC to give it anything higher than an 8, so this is high praise. Even if you never had any intention of returning to Xenoblade 3 after clearing the game, much like I had, Future Redeemed is more than a compelling enough reason to pick up the Expansion Pass to gain access to it. Part of me wishes it could have gotten a standalone phyiscal release like Torna did, but understanding all of the baggage attached I can't exactly say it was the wrong decision to keep it shackled to Xenoblade 3's DLC. In a year as stacked as 2023 has been, it might have been hard for it to stand out - but nevertheless, Future Redeemed remains one of the best RPGs of the year, and any Xenoblade fan on the fence should make an effort to play it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed is an absolutely essential component of the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy. Combat and exploration are tightly refined to keep things moving along, so there’s never a dull moment unless you choose to take a breather. The story relies heavily on nostalgia for its emotional moments, but fans will be pleased that some of the loose ends are finally tied together, albeit with knots they likely didn’t expect.
