I'm playing this on a switch oled in handheld mode only. My only complaints is that the sound is to low. I play gas guzzlers extreme and fast and furious the rise of shifter and I can barely hear wreckfest. Wreckfest plays no different than the other games. It looks really good and has good destruction. I also played online. My wifi comes from my cellphone provider. I noticed no frame rateI'm playing this on a switch oled in handheld mode only. My only complaints is that the sound is to low. Add a point if you play it on your TV. Other than that it has nice detailing and good hd rumble feedback Expand

Since I hot this on the PC I have been waiting for it on the switch.
I only have a switch lite.
DO NOT GET THIS FOR THE SWITCH LITE. Seeing the track ahead for this game is essential or you are crashing off course and may as well quit the race there and then. On the switch lite you may as well be playing with blinkers gaffer taped over both eyes. If you do see ahead when cresting a rise

If you do see ahead when cresting a rise etc the distance/time is so short and the car handling so ropey compared to the 'on tracks AI' you will go from 1st to 16th after a tiny excursion followed by a mullering from the AI behind you once you rejoin the track.

I'm the type of Switch player that mostly buys ported games that I also own on PC. Wreckfest is one of them.
Overall the concept and gameplay of Wreckfest is awesome no matter which platform you play on. So I won't be reviewing the game in general but mostly the port.

Overall the concept and gameplay of Wreckfest is awesome no matter which platform you play on. So I won't be reviewing the game in general but mostly the port.

Like I said before I'm a player that mostly buys ports on the Switch that I also own on PC. I've seen a lot of great ports (like Redout, Mutant Football League, Minecraft, Borderlands) and I've seen a lot of bad ports (MXGP3, GRIP to some extent, Road Redemption) and honostly Wreckfest is one of the best ports I have ever played on the Switch.

If you've played or have seen Wreckfest on PC, Playstation or Xbox you already know it is a pretty demanding game hardware wise. You'll need a decent mid end or high end PC to be able to run it on a stable 60fps and even then you can have frame drops.
So when they announced Wreckfest on Nintendo Switch I was a bit scared that the game would run like a potato and would be downscaled so bad that the graphics would look like a PS2 game.

However, this is not the case. The game runs smooth, the graphics are awesome and it has all the content it does on PC and other Consoles.

The graphics are amazing for a game of this caliber on the switch. Of course you will notice that it isn't as pretty as on the PC or Console but no one is expecting that with the Switch's hardware. Nevertheless it looks very very good and personally I think it's one of the prettiest ports I have played.

The gameplay is basically the same as on PC or Console. All the gamemodes, tracks and cars are there and the damage you deal or get dealt is as good as on PC or Console. However, the amount of racers during a race is reduced to 16 (that's 8 less than on other platforms). Which I think is done because it would otherwise stress the Nintendo Switch too much. I think this is a bit of a bummer but it doesn't take the fun away.

Both handheld and docked run perftectly. It's great to play on a big screen and be able to take it with you without any blur for both docked and handheld.

Like I said before all the content is there as well. The only thing missing is the DLC in the European version. I'm not sure why but the European version will receive all the DLC's on the 30th of june 2022.

I would recommend this game to anyone that is looking for an exciting, arcade racing game with lots of content and a lot of damage!

Graphically it’s what I expected, it’s ugly and low resolution, a lot of pop, but I’m OK with it ,it’s to be expected, it’s definitely playable especially portable. What I’m not OK with is multiplayer performance, it’s very very bad, I never had any issues with online games, I have very good Internet speed.

the problem is the cars clip into each other and there’s a lot of issues with control because of lag, you basically can’t control your car - it steers in directions you’re not steering. It kills all enjoyment, so I would say it’s only a single player game

"For those looking for a very different racing experience, Wreckfest offers hectic fun that runs surprisingly well considering how nice it looks. The difficulty may be off-putting to some gamers, but being any easier would ruin this intense experience."

Not a fan of games that involve cars because they are usually boring but this game is an exception. This game is actually fun and it's a miracle it runs so good on Switch - must buy!

Singleplayer part of the game is fine, graphics are ugly though. Multiplayer is pretty empty all the time, also multiplayer network performance is pretty bad for me, it lags a lot, other games work great for me. So I would recommend to buy it on discount

The Switch doesn’t have many racers that offer the same kind of thrills and excitement as Wreckfest at its best.

Wreckfest on the Nintendo Switch is a fantastic technical achievement. It’s an absolute delight of a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously, yet still offers enough depth and longevity for avid racing fans.

Wreckfest is an intense, fun, action-packed game that brings together arcade style racing and vehicle smashing, and it works great on the Nintendo Switch. With plenty of options and game modes to choose from, Wreckfest is a varied and complete experience and one which should be on the radar of any fan of car-smashing action.
