The official reviews here are garbage. I created an account just to put this review up, the switch store is littered with shovel-ware at the moment and it's hard to work out what's worth the time with a lack of official reviews from trusted sites on these smaller titles and no internal rating system. Combine that with these try hard reviewers from these middling sites trying to make a name for themselves and it's easy to be dismissive of anything not made by an established developer.

Everything this game does it does well, the design, art, music and writing are fantastic.
Expect a little bit of a grind - that's what this game is, it incorporates design elements of a 'clicker' a genre that is openly and unashamedly labelled as 'time waster'. So get over that fact and enjoy this game for what it is, fun, addictive and suprisingly varied in it's systems.

There are mini games and spaceships to unlock, weapon customization that keeps things fun and fresh and a variety of enemies throughout different levels, the writing is a delight.

This game is a perfect fit for the portable nature of the switch but If you still aren't sure, i'd encourage you to try the demo.

There was a lot about Vostok Inc I liked. It's 80's art style makes it stand out against other indie titles that tend to go towards a pixelated art style, which I think is oversaturated the indie market. It's first few hours are so fun to play! You are making progress, exploiting new worlds and making tons of Moolah. However, the game quickly becomes a grind that does a poor job of guiding the player through that grind and bringing them out the other side. It took me over 20 hours to beat this game! I'd say half of those hours was spent wasting time, destroying asteroids to keep my managers happy and waiting for my Moolah to go up. If the game was over in 10 hours I would have left feeling I got a return on my investment. However, the grind made me feel like Vostok Inc was a chore or a job, something I had to chip away at to finally reach the end.

Vostok Inc. is something of an oddity. It offers some competent shooter mechanics dressed up with some playful satire, unique concepts, and plenty of gameplay for those who seek it. But the overall experience feels lacking, uneventful, and repetitive, especially when it comes to the click-fest sim components.

If the idea of bringing these two styles together is something to praise, it doesn't feel like a gratifying experience and it ends up becoming too repetitive once the novelty factor wears off.

From an interesting mix of elements comes a stylish game that manages to be fun, at least for a while.
