Verlet Swing is one of the most outlandish games I’ve played in a long time. The presentation is simply delightful in a weird drug-induced kind of way, and seeing what was in store for me next was something that helped push through the frustration that cropped up. The core grapple gameplay is fun, and the levels were generally designed well. However, it’s evident they were designed with mouse and keyboard in mind, especially towards the latter portion of the game.

It is a very repetitive and simple game without a whole lot to really offer. It tries to appear like it has heavy Vaporwave influences, but I struggled to really see any traces of its influence throughout the game. If having an occasional dolphin and some neon lights constitutes as Vaporwave then I guess this could technically count? The levels all feel the same, the overall tone and look of the levels never changes enoigh and there are no new mechanics introduced throughout the game. Repetitive gameplay and level design doesn't mix well when you're repeating said levels countless times just to beat them, yet alone go for a better score. I got bored within about one hour of playing, and can't see myself going back anytime soon. This feels more like an IOS game than an actual indie game. Full Review »
