Unlock the King is an inventive take on the classic game of chess. It will certainly help if you are familiar with the rules of chess, but the game challenges you a new way, unlike any other variation you might have experienced.

All of the peices have the same moves as they do in a real chess game. I was addicted from the first level, and of course just like any other puzzle game the levels get more difficult as you progress thought the game, I'm on level 17 so far and it's getting more challenging. If you're a fan of chess, or in my case if you love puzzle games don't hesitate to get this. I think i got it on sale for like $1.99 But i would easily pay $10 to 15 bucks for this game. 10 out of 10 Glad this made it to the switch. Expand

This game has been a lot of fun. Been playing it for not even 14 hours and made it up to level 71. ...which is where my issue comes.

I use the switch docked 99% of the time so when I got up to level 71 I could only move one piece in one direction and then the next square moved out of the map and I couldn’t reach it. I was about ready to give up on the game, as disappointed as I was, and find something else until I remembered the game had touch controls.

I undocked my switch and touched the tile I needed and completed the level, so at least I now know the game isn’t impossible. However, the fact I had to use touch controls in a game that’s touch and controller compatible makes me think it wasn’t properly tested before release. It is only on version 1.0.0 so it’s new and I can’t complain too much, but maybe they’ll fix this issue in the future.

Game gets a mediocre rating from me for now.

At this point in the game you are able to move the position of some squares in the puzzles, and the puzzles sometimes have you move a square outside the initial level bounds.
Because of this oversight, levels 72 onward are inaccessible.
This bug can also be encountered earlier, in level 59.

Good puzzle game, but the developer failed to fully test this port before release.
Would also like to have seen some colour coding of buttons and their corresponding squares, and perhaps tracks showing their path.
