This is an absolute blast of a Game. For anyone who is tired of these thousands of Soulslike and Rouguelikes in a pixelbox, give this one a Go. For anyone who is tired of these thousands of Soulslike and Rouguelikes in a pixelbox, give this one a Go. It is different, very complex with a lot of different adjustments in terms of Character, Combat and Equipment. You really need to dig into the game mechanics which can be pretty overwhelming at first. Its about the same with the Lore, there is a good Read in the game, but all that should not bother anyone who is looking for a very unique game. I am playing for about 18 hours in normal Mode and I can tell you this Game has a wonderful atmosphere, a great score, a good written, but indeed very cryptical story, nice Pixel Graphics and a very diversified Combat system. Indeed it is important to think about your Organ-Choice, Tech-gear and your consumables, because the difficulty-curve makes it necessary. As soon as you feel weak, just try another adjustment within these pretty deep Skills and Item-Systems and there you go again. Love it. Combat is nothing too Special, but works just fine for me, sure it can get pretty heavy at time with more and more enemies on Stage, but when the strategy works with your Character Adjustments you will be fine. That is the magic with the combat. When you die, you know there will be another way to progress within your own preperation and skills. There is a good learning curve here as long as you keep beeing patient. It is definately not too frustrating although it can be challenging at times. The only downside to me is, that the LoadingScreens are way too long and too often. Some people will surely hate that, but to me, Iam so deep into the game now, I am getting used to these little pauses every once. By now my favourites (Indie) Game in 2022. Give it a try!! Expand

Simply put, there’s too much going on in Undungeon. It feels like several different mechanics ratcheted together. But none of it is cohesive. Moreover, the story is too complicated; you must read a novel every time you interact with someone. Finally, the controls feel cumbersome, and the numerous loading screens take you out of the experience.

I was hoping for something special with Undungeon, but sadly was utterly disappointed. This is an example of a game where less could have been so much more. It overburdens players with overly complex systems that weren’t intuitive or fun. Granted, it has stellar artwork and a cool premise, but that’s not nearly enough to fix what’s already broken. Despite tinyBuild’s recent track record of publishing high quality games, this is one I absolutely cannot recommend.
