Unbound: Worlds Apart is an amazing platformer/puzzle/metroidvania that hits all of the right marks for me. They managed to create a game with very unique puzzle mechanics while ensuring it was visually stunning with a wonderful soundtrack. The puzzles start out easy and get progressively more challenging but the checkpoint system ensures that it isn't punishing. If you're a fan of Ori or Hallow Knight, you can't miss this. Taking inspiration from both you are tasked with challenging some excellent puzzles and precision platforming, with a cute engaging story and an even cuter protagonist (Soli). However do be careful of the precision platforming, I nearly broke my switch in two out of frustration.

At times the game gets a little atmospheric which only serves to aid in your immersion and enjoyment.

Great title in its own right that pays homage to its inspiration sources. 10/10 would be a cube again.

This game deserves a high score. Such crisp controls, platforming and puzzles. It can get challenging at times but the checkpoints are so forgiving and encouraging. It’s not super difficult, just a little bit of challenge & a whole lot of brain teasing fun.

This is one of the best Metroidvanias I have EVER played. The game makes a great first impression with its graphics and music, the graphics look amazing and GORGEOUS!!, and the music sounds beautiful. The game's whole gimmick is also very fleshed out and makes some very fun and interesting puzzles. I highly recommend this game if your a Metroidvania fan

Excellent game if you like games like Celeste, Ori, and Hollow Knight then this game is for you. Really good puzzles and platforming with a unique mechanic that you don't see often in games. Maybe it was inspired from Titanfall level? Also, the graphics are just amazing.

While they weren’t initially very well-represented on the Switch, in the past 2 years the Metroidvania genre has been thriving thanks to a wide variety of indie titles. With that in mind, doing things a little differently would likely be a good idea, and that’s where Unbound makes a case for its potential success, by leaning a bit in the opposite direction most titles choose. With that in mind, doing things a little differently would likely be a good idea, and that’s where Unbound makes a case for its potential success, by leaning a bit in the opposite direction most titles choose. While exploration and rewards for persistence are building blocks all titles in the space should have, and that are represented well here, rather than placing an emphasis on combat as most games do within the space, Unbound leans into the puzzles instead. Through the creative use of portals and a variety of powers you’ll wield as the game moves on you’ll be able to navigate through some tough challenges that vary in style and difficulty, making for an experience that never is quite able to get dull and that will put you to the test in some cases to work through how to properly make your way through some intricate maze-like level design. While perhaps not as ideal for the action-oriented set I found the more cerebral approach in this case to be satisfyingly refreshing compared to the norm.

Unbound: Worlds Apart is a game that looks and sounds wonderful, with a central gameplay hook, and it keeps players on their toes. Plus, with a lenient checkpoint system even the most difficult parts feel less daunting. Aside from some performance hiccups on Nintendo Switch and a passable story, this is definitely worth a look or two.

Unbound: Worlds Apart is a fantastic addition to the metroidvania timeline. It remains unique whilst encouraging what people love about classic puzzle platformers. A super exciting concept is perfectly executed by Alien Pixel Studios, and takes the form of a captivating, melancholic adventure for all.
